More restriction with humidity or higher temps?

Recommended Posts

I live in Louisville Ky and we have had a huge change in the weather in the last week or so. We have had 90% humidity and temps in the upper 80's and 90's. My band was done in Oct so this is my first summer with the band. My last fill was 7 weeks ago and I have pretty good restriction. For the last week or week and a half I have not been able to hardly eat at all. Sometimes even liquids come back up like slime. For instance,

b-fast..1/2 Protein Bar

lunch...2 chicken nuggets from Chick Fil A

dinner..3 bites of taco meat

snack...10 sun chips (then threw up)

This is not normal for me at all. I want to lose weight but I don't know if this is due to weather or slippage.

I am unsure of an answer but you should try to call your doc just to make sure there is nothing majorily wrong. Sending healthy vibes your way!

Hi:

Best to call your doctor to make sure things are okay with your band. I did want to give you a heads up on something I came across my first really hot day after I was restricted.....drink slowly too! I was working out alot and getting really thirsty and I drank too fast and it came back up. So, if you get really hot, please remember to sip your drinks slowly even when you're extremely thirsty.

Our bands can be quite fickle. Could be that you have some swelling going on that you cannot feel, but your band can. Have any headcold with postnasal drip will make your band tighter. Not drinking often enough? Waiting too long between meals because you're not hungry? So many things can cause an issue, but overall your band is your weightloss friend so take good care of it and it will take good care of you.

Hope all gets better with your band soon.

Sue

Interesting post. I was doing fine on maintenance out west in a dry cold climate. Moved to NC- hot and humid and within 2 months starting sliming every day.

Could be, is all I can answer....could be.

This morning my band was tighter than usual and low and behold it is hot and muggy out today. I PB'd on my Breakfast this morning. First time ever.

I live in Georgia and we have very high humidity so I'm used to it. However, when it rains, I can hardly get anything down. I asked my doc about this and he said it is not unusual. Has something to do with the barametric pressure. Weird!

You have me thinking that the weather could have something to do with it also. I live 40 miles north of Dayton OH and I can tell within the last week that my band is much tighter than is has been. I'm scheduled for a fill Saturday and it will be a small one if any.

The tightness seems to effect me more in the mornings than any other time, however, the first real food of the day I have I must eat very slowly as it feels very slow going down. Our weather has been very similar to yours with the ratcheting up of the humidity and temperature. I can't blame it on "Aunt Flo" right now so I guess it does make some sense. When I has heavier, my ankles would tend to swell up due to the hot/humid weather. I guess our stomachs can too. :bored:

I haven't noticed if the weather has an effect, but like the other poster stated the band i very fickle. I can drink coffee every day for 2 weeks, and then all of a sudden throw it up for no reason. For the most part you will get to know your band, and what times of the day you are most restricted, but there are times, where things you have eaten 100 times before will one day not agree with you. At least this has been my experience. But you know your body, and if you feel something is wrong, it's a good idea to talk to your Dr.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
