Shrinking Violets Part 4

Recommended Posts

I loved Funny People...but I was the only one of the 4 of us who did. I worked at a stand up comedy club for 5 years...so yeah, I am a stand up fan! The jokes were funny, the story was rich...but it was a bit long. The others didn't hate it...but they they didn't love it like I did. One sucky part was w/ James Taylor singing Carolina. Today is my dad's birthday and the whole family LOVES James Taylor...and yes, we are all from the Carolinas (he was born in North Carolina, and you all know about the Ker^&* legacy in Camden South Carolina). I've listened to that song w/ my dad for, um...40 years. So when he was singing it, I covered my ears and did a low hum so I wouldn't hear it...but then gave in and listened and cried. This morning I called my step mom to let her know I was thinking of her, and it went to the answering machine. Well, my dad's voice is on it...and it killed me.

but other than that, the movie was funny...

Morning Girls.

Hubby and I are headed off to go to our Family Breakfast. Yum. Than it's home to wait for the U-Verse people to come and hook us up.

Didn't wiegh this morning. I had half a bag of Micro-Popcorn last night. The good thing about it was that I finished up on the "Lost" series. Holy Cow.

Hubby and I picked up a couple of books in the volunteer room last night. We are huge Clive Cussler fans and someone brought in 2 books we haven't read yet.

I haven't been to see a movie in I don't know how long. I'll wait till the kids are back in school, than I will hit the theatres again.

Have a good day.

((Pamela))

I can picture your PO cuz' we went there! & of course margi heaven... I love that I can picture you in all these scenarios now!! Glad you are healing well but follow doc's orders & don't sweat!

((Janie)) That is simply one part of life I'll never understand... how great folks (& kids) can get sick & die while evil ones seem to go on forever... doesn't seem like a good system...

Work work today... cannot avoid like I did yesterday!! (note to self!)... laundry & then packing for the weekend. I'm so looking forward to being by the Water and simply relaxing... oh, w/a bunch of soccer games thrown in for fun!

Make it a great day, Vi's!

Good morning....

Pamela-I am so anxious for BB tonight! I really hope that ratboy goes home. I wonder who will get the secret power...prob Jeff. He is a cute one aint he? :w00t:

Jane-what a sad story about your client. At least it wasn't a prolonged illness. So sad to be so young and have tragedy strike like that. :w00t:

Haydee-the upside to staying the same weight for so long is that when you get to where you want to be, at least you know you will have no problem maitaining, right? Stay focused on the bright side :w00t:.

Jennifer-I love both Ice Age movies...I can not wait to see this one!

Judy-how was the symphony in the park? Just the sound of that makes me smile :)

Laura-I just love the b & w pic of you and Carson! Oh, and the one where he is wearing the newbie outfit :w00t:

:w00t: HiYa Kat, Terry, Michelle, Suzie, TracyinKS and Heather! If I forgot someone it deosn't mean I don't love ya, it means the alzheimers is kicking in

Lets see, what about me...ummm,

Oh, went school supply shopping yesterday, thats always fun (not, lol). What else, went to the gym yesterday then took Macy swimming (go ME). Did not have any fattening ice cream yesterday. :w00t: In a little while dss is coming over. He & Macy play very good together. Only bad thing is that he forgets (or doesnt care) that she is 5 years younger than he is and he teaches her things she should not hear about yet...like ghosts, haunted houses, you know...that wake her up in the middle of the night crap, lol. And she is also learning to be a smart@ss a little too soon for my taste...so I am having to reign her in a bit over that. BUT, I guess it was bound to happen! (I do not know where she gets it from :)) haha Laura-enjoy Carson while he cant talk! :w00t:

Have a fantastic day everyone. I am going to work at day 2 of behaving myself and letting the band do its job and not sabatoge it. What a novel idea! :w00t:

Haydee, Being stuck at a weight can be a blessing in disguise. I always got "stuck" but found that if I could work to maintain for a while . . . then a new set point kind of maintains on its own. If you can bust through this set point and develop a new one . . . things get pretty easy.

wow, look at all the faces in my post...yellow dots everywhere

LOL, I didn't notice until you said something. :0)

Yesterday I stayed away from the donuts but went to a new place in town after Ayla's doctors appointment. It is called qdoba and they have excellent salads. Later, I had one slice of pizza for dinner. pizza is bad but one slice is better than three. It was not the best of days, but not the worst either.

I am 140 pounds today for the third day in a row. I am starting to think that maybe this weight is going to stick which I am pleased about. This was my ultimate goal weight so I am there. I also can wear all my pre-pregnancy clothes now which makes me a size 8 and medium. If I never lose another pound I can be happy at this weight. I just really, really dont want to gain. I really can't believe I was up to 188 the morning Ayla was born. I feel blessed to be back in the game so quickly at only two months out.

Poor Ayla got 4 shots yesterday . . . since when did they start giving tiny babies 4 shots at once??? She got one in each thigh and one in each butt cheek. I felt so bad and it took me a while to console her. Since then she has been on baby tylenol and sleeping a lot more than usual.

Happy Thursday everyone.

Hi everyone

Tracyk- ROFL ....Remember I have a 15year old and a 5 year old? You can not even begin to imagine what comes out of his mouth and what he gets from he big kids. Plus dd is a horror movie freak and loves the haunting shows and ghost wisper thing... I come in all the time and she is watching it with him OMG.... but I guess she is that way from me always watching that stuff.

well, back to reality, kids just came in ds is screaming like a crazy person because the ds battery died and he couldn't find the charger, and dd is already complaining that this am is cleaning day

ugh.... i was so relaxed from my walk

So Heather, had the little sweetie grown a lot?? I know at one point when my DS and DIL were moving here from CO, and they were going to be changing pediatricians, they gave my poor little DGS 5 shots at one time. I am sorry, but to me that is child abuse! To hold down an innocent baby who has no idea WHY they keep poking them with needles over and over is horrid beyond words!

Kinseys ped. has given her 2 at a time, one in each thigh, and they do it at one time. The Dr. and a nurse on the count of 3. They had her laid on the exam table, with her legs stretched over the side, pinned by the nurses tummy, they counted 3 poked her, and handed her off to mommy immediately. To keep poking a baby over and over is soooooo sad! Poor little Ayla.

Tomorrow is the day! The kids have to report to the hospital at 5:30 AM! Then they are due in surgery at 7:00 AM, for the c section! So a few minutes after 7 my new grandson should be here! I am soooooo excited! Work is MAJOR pissed that I am taking off but TDB. I gave them plenty of warning, and I have prepped things well, and if they follow the schedule they will be fine. It is the office managers constantly accepting walk ins that throws schedules off. I have problems seeing it as anything but greed. When we have a no show she calculates how much loss that is. The Dr. is not hurting, and personally my wages are not affected at all, nor do I believe hers to be. She just sees it as a challenge, and while I understand that type of challenge mentallity----I don't happen to share this one, so it is not something I get worked up over! She is a total workaholic, and seems to love it---I think maybe part of my problem is jealousy....? I WISH I could get that INTO something. But I am not.

Haydee the pics are both nice....I too see advantages in both, and would have a hard time choosing. The woman who did the pics at my friend Becky's sons wedding, did an awesome job. She actually charged by the hour!! She charges $75.00 an hour, and she shot non stop. She said if she could bring her DH she would have him shooting as well. So they both took pics non stop. They have some great pictures. The ones like Judy spoke of with just the bubbles colored. One I really like, that totally captured her son (Mr athlete through and through) was of them kind of blurred into the background, with them doing a fist bump and their rings in perfect focus---it was SO him. With 2 of them shooting pics, there was both angles from groom side as well as bride side during the ceremony.

The kicker-----they were all put onto discs----6 discs full of pics. Some were the same, just sepia toned or B&W----and that is what they bought. The photographer did not print a single picture. They got the discs for the fee they paid, and all rights to the pics. They and their families now develop what they want.

She does family groups---we plan on her doing a big family shoot for us after the baby is born. We figure in 2-3 hours we can get all we need, in family groups and kids, and all the combos imaginable---and in the end it will not cost us as much as getting them done in a studio, and getting the proper amount of each size.

Tonight we go to dinner with the youngest DD, who could not make it for Rick's birthday. Not sure if the SOL will join us or not.....hoping not!! LOL

I am off to the shower.....feeling depressed as heck this morning.

My scale is kinda hanging too. Of course I am doing nothing to help it along......

So Heather, had the little sweetie grown a lot??

She went from 5 pounds, 7 ounces and the 3% growth percentile to 9 pounds, 8 ounces and the 17% growth percentile. She is growing splendidly for being so tiny :0)

Now that she is so much bigger, it floors me that a person can have a baby as big as she is now, and do it naturally. Giving birth to an almost 10 pound baby would scare me, thats for sure.

Just a quick question . . . why does it take me many, many months to update my weight ticker when I go up . . . but only a couple of days if it goes down???

Perhaps denial, perhaps inability to live in reality, perhaps the joy of kidding myself . . .

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
