How many cc's does it take to fill just the Port and Tubing in the LB-APS?

Recommended Posts

I know I read this somewhere months ago and now I can't find it...How many cc's does it take just to fill the Port and the Tubing in the Lap Band APS (standard/small 10cc band)? I just got my first fill (0 fill at surgery) of 3cc's and I'm wondering how much of that actually made it to the Band. Thanks!

I have a 10cc band with 9cc's in it now and I am very restricted. Im still hungry all the time and take phendymetrazine to curbe that hunger. It is a prescription by another Dr. I had hoped I would not need it after surgery, but that doesnt seem to be the case.

I would guess, about 2.5cc.

It would partially depend on the length of your tubing.

But my guess is that the protocol from AP was originally to fill the band during sugery, just enough to fill it without creating restriction. They seem to be going away from this as they continue to see the slip percentage not getting any better. I think they just keep trying it differently in hopes of finding a majic way to not have slips. Probably won't ever happen.

There are different lengths of tubing for the APS? I thought they came premade. Yeah, I wondered why I got 0 fill at surgery.

I have the AP and have had 3 fills since surgery- I "believe" I am at the sweet spot and I have 6.8 cc's in a 10 cc band.

Thanks C. That's what I would have guessed, but I couldn't remember. I hope he gave you more than .5 this time!

My doctor told me it takes about 2 cc's to fill the tubing.

So now you've got 1.5...or did the doc put a fill in during the surgery like most of them do? I'm hoping at least your port/tubing are filled!

My doctor told me it takes about 2 cc's to fill the tubing.

THANKS! Just what I needed!

I was told that 3cc was put in mine in surgery to prime it.....just to fill the tubing and none in the actual band. I have a lap band and I think it's 10cc but that needs to be verified. So when I went for my first actual fill they put in 1.8 and my second was 0.8. They said I have a total of 5.6 but I wouldn't think I would "count" that 3cc if it was just for priming the tubing.

I am so stressed. I had my band put in on March 9, 2009. I have lost about 15 pounds, but lost all that in the first week or so. I have a 10cc band and at surgery I had no fill whatsoever. My first fill wasnt until 6 weeks after surgery and it was only .5cc. And it has been that way every fill I have had since then. The doctor only puts half a cc every time. I have had 4 fills since then at 200 bucks a pop and my tubing isnt even filled??? I think I am at 2.5 cc's right now and I can eat, drink, whatever I want and as much as I want. Is this normal or am I being ripped off? Has anyone else experienced this? Please help. What should I do? I try to talk to him about this and ask for a larger fill but he just says he doesnt want me to throw up and he intimidates me. I'm not rich by any meeans and its going to take a long time and tons of $$ to finally get where I need to be at this rate.:ihih:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
