6 Weeks Post Op - 55 lbs Lost - Hunger Lost - Appetite Lost

Recommended Posts

Nothing appeals to me, even the bad stuff like ice cream or milk shakes. I can go all day with out eating anything and be ok with that. Though my body is suffering for it. I have to force myself to eat something and it is a struggle. I can tolerate most solid foods, but nothing sounds good.

I am drinking a lot of Carnation Instant Breakfast just to get nutrition.

Anyone else having issues of lost appetite?

Are you making sure you take your supplements? Wow loss of appetite. Lucky you. Well just make sure when you do eat that you get plenty of Protein and nutrients. Is your doctor ok with what you're doing? What does he/she say about it? I had a brief loss of appetite shortly after my surgery but of course it came back.

Also, make sure when you make your CIB that maybe you mix in fruit with it. That's a good way for you to get those nutrients.

Hey BSG,

This is great to hear. We are about the same age and size judging by your ticker. I look forward to getting to that point.

I have a wierd hunger. Not that I really want to eat things, but that desire to chew and taste is really strong.

I've never had a loss of appetite... was hungry before my surgery, was hungry when I woke up from my surgery, and I'm hungry now. But I'm learning how to deal with that hunger and I've come a long way baby!!! Good luck to you. Becky

WOW. lucky you. I had surgery 5 days ago and I have been hungry the entire time. I am able to deal with it when I see the scale though. Down 30 lbs.

Are you sure it's the band that is causing the loss of appetite? Go to you doctor and get yourself checked out, it could be something else.

From what I know, the lap-band does obviously decrease hunger but what you're describing is actually anorexia (you don't have to be skinny to be anorexic), which is something I was diagnosed with when I became depressed a few years ago - I couldn't eat and the sight of food actually made me nauseous.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
