Gross!!!! Oh my gosh I see what you all are talking about now!!! It felt horrible!!! The only thing I don't get is why am I having this problem right now? I am about 3 weeks post of my 1st fill and didn't have any problems before. Now all of a sudden I just almost slimed myself to death. I ate a very small bbq hamburger...no bun or anything. I have eaten hamburgers before but not bbq idk if thats the difference or what. It hurt tho, like something was stuck and then all of a sudden...well...u know the rest...

It is awful, isn't it?

Sliming just happens when a piece of food cannot pass through the band opening. It can happen with a food that you have been able to eat in the past and it doesn't necessarily mean you can't eat that food again. You probably had a piece that just didn't get chewed enough or maybe a clump of food that tried to pass through and it blocked the opening. I had a couple sliming episodes due to stress-stress will instantly make me tighter and if I am eating at the time...

I am sorry that you experienced that, it is gross and painful. I have slimed probably 10 times so far and it doesn't get any easier. I would just make sure that you are chewing, chewing, chewing, sitting ans eating, taking breaks in between bites, and when it is meat like that you should cut it up in eraser size pieces. Good luck to you and feel better.

I agree, sliming is the worst =( I think that using Condiments and making sure to chew really well can make a big difference, though. Did you have ketchup or mustard on your burger? Sometimes, if my band is tighter than normal, I cut meat up into small, bite sized pieces and toss it in the condiment. Of course this workers better w/chicken in BBQ Sauce, but if you think the ketchup or mustard taste will be too strong, then you can toss a little bit of low fat or fat free mayo with it before tossing the meat in. Hope this helps you in the future =)

Quite a few people say that they experience a band tightening 2 -3 weeks after a fill. It happens about half the time for me. Jodi-620 is right. Stress will affect you as well. All I have to do is cry or get really upset, and I have to skip a meal. Nothing will go down. I start sliming on the first bite. Try not to swallow it when your mouth starts watering. I spit into a napkin (discreetly of course) It's even worse if you swallow wads of the slime. The slime is your body's way of trying to dislodge the offending mass stuck in your stoma. It's trying to ease it through. Our pouch is so small, that all that "help" backs up. I immediately get up and walk around. Sometimes it helps to put my arms up over my head. Spit out the slime and DO NOT drink anything.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice! Is the sliming the foods we eat or the amount of the bite??? I have been trying both to figure out which foods won't go down (like bread, tortillas, anything like that) and I have also been trying to chew really well. So far it's helped alot.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
