How long does the pain and swelling last? I'm so scared, I'm screwing up my stomach. Am I drinking to much liquid, drinking it to fast? Am I bending, sitting, standing to much? I'm scared I have slippage or pull a stitch.

Hi. I felt pretty good one week after my surgery and great by about two weeks. I think it is pretty normal to be scared that something will happen to your band. I don't think drinking liquids can cause much damage, but you might want to just sip until you think the swelling has gone down. You do need plenty of liquids, so keep drinking. And bending, sitting, standing, getting up..... those things might hurt for awhile, but I don't think by doing them you will hurt your band. Walking is great and I do think the bands are pretty tough.... just like we are. Like I said.... your band is new and I'm sure it is common to worry about it. Smile - it will all get better!! Take care. Becky

DEEP BREATH!!!

Liquids pass right through the opening the band creates and move on to the rest of your stomach. They won't stretch out your pouch. You need to drink plenty of Water (at least 8 glasses a day) and while you're on the liquid diet, that's your nutrition source too...so drink whatever amounts satisfy you.

Pain should decrease daily. I actually had almost no pain, never used any pain medications but everybody is different. Moving around will help. Do what feels comfortable and don't force yourself to do more than that. If you are having gas pains, walking will help tremendously.

Bending, sitting & standing ... all up to you. If it doesn't make you too tired, do it. My only limitation that the doctor emphasized was to not pick up anything that weighed more than 5 pounds for a week or two.

It's normal to worry about every little thing and having everybody here will help with those worries.

I felt pretty rotten. I mean really bad! When I woke up I felt like I had been shot and knifed repeadly I wouldn't have minded a few more days of pain meds. Everyone is different. I am fine now. Just take it easy and follow the guidelines.

Hey everyone!!! I was banded on 4/8/09 and I am doing okay, besides the pain that I have around the port area. It is driving me crazy. I can not sit for to long or stand because the pain becomes unbarable:thumbdown:. I know many say it's normal but I wonder if it's suppose to hurt this much.:crying:

I have my post-op appt on 4/22 I am hoping that the pain has gone away or at least gotten better. Any advice as to what I can do to make it feel better. Also I have started on some soft foods like mash and cream of wheat I wanted to know am I suppose to eat until I feel full or just a little at a time. I am afraid to over do it so I only have tiny amounts at a time but it seems that I am hungry more often. What should I do?

Hope to hear from ya soon...have a great day!:rolleyes2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
