Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor in need of lapband mentor

Recommended Posts

Hi I was banded March19th and I would really appreciate a mentor. I need guidance on eating, and the eating choices I am making. I am off all food restrictions, and basically nothing is bothering me. I now understand the people saying they can eat as much as before (or at least nearly). Help:tongue_smilie:

Hey, Alliemorris, thanks for getting back to me. I am really pretty frustrated. I was banded 3/19 (self pay, too), and am waiting for my first fill on the 30th. I lost 20lbs at first, but haven't since. Actually, I am up a couple of pounds. I must admit, I have been watching what I eat, but eating what my family has been eating, just less. Heck, I don't know how to diet. That is why the h.... I am in this mess now! I know that I need to eat differently, but ........

I guess I am just feeling really down and depressed (not to mention bloated) today!

Hey Mary, I too was hungry before my first fill, but I was determined to not have gained when I went to my fill appointment. I excercized and really tried to focus. I know it's not easy but you have a tool now, it may not be a great tool as of yet but it's still there. You can do it! Try and eat Protein, then veg. If you need a snack stick to 100 calorie Snacks. Try and stay away from carbs. I know it seems overwhelming but let me tell you that nothing feels better than losing and not gaining. I bought a wii fit at the beginning and did 30 minutes of fun excercize every day. When you are sitting on the couch watching tv do leg lifts, make a goal that during commercials you will walk around, try going up the stairs.. stuff like that. Keep your body moving.. now is the time where the bulk of your weight will come off , make sure you drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day.. I am a crystal light fanatic. I promise you if you try these things and yes I know it seems hard but you can do it! You went through all you did to get banded and paid for it as well, you can do this. Do not allow yourself to get into a rut. You have the power now!! Use it. Use this time where your body will shed weight like crazy to your benefit. don't allow yourself to just give in. Make a goal for every day and stick to it. Focus and just realize that a year from now you will be thin!!! Good luck and keep your head up!

I honestly feel like I am going to fail at this continuously.. you are not alone. I think it's because as a former obese person ( i love saying that) I failed at every diet I ever tried. I would lose then gain gain gain. This is different than a diet and I know you are going to be soooo successful! I am so glad you were able to get out of your funk. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
