Hi Everyone hope you are all doing great

Leah hope you can help me out here, have you had any days where you have really bad stomach pains, I woke up this morning and had pains all over my tummy, not sure what it is.....guess maybe it could be Im working too hard in the gym. Just wanted to know if that happens to all of us or should I be worried

I go for my 2nd fill on july 1 (had to change dates) hubby has to go in for day surgery...... Im hoping that this fill will make me fuller wuicker because I still dont get full all that much and I have over 5ml in my band...

Down to about 22kg gone now, the last few weeks have been really hard but Im getting there, Have got a long way to go

High fives to everyone

Cheers Trish

Hey Trish,

Yes, I have experienced lots of different pains related to the band!!!

When I have pain all through my abdomen its usually gas. I'd never had an issue with gas before the band, so the first couple of times I had no idea what it was... Degas tabs help me out there.

I've also had pain around my port after a big of a hard slog at the gym. Especially when my person trainer has me on my stomach on a swiss ball, I find my port site is tender for a day or two after.

What does your pain feel like (other than painful...)? Is it sharp? Stabbing? Constant? Aching? And where is it? All over, centralised in one spot and if so where?

On another note, my god you are going so well with your weight loss! I am totally jealous . You'll be able to tell that mother-in-law of yours to go jump very soon!!

Hey Leah,

My pain is more the lower part of my abdomen, its more a constant pain, kinda like period pain (sorry if theres any guys reading) Im hoping its only gas, am tempted to give the doc a call tomorrow if the pain doesnt go away....

Im so glad its not just me getting the pains, I have so much running through my head its scary

My weightloss is pretty good, though I seem to be stuck on the same thing now for the last few weeks.... I work my butt off in the gym and nothing seems ot be happening on the scales...Though I gotta say the clothes are getting really loose. Its amazing to wear a pair of jeans to work and be able to pull them down without undoing the zipper

Im looking forward to my next fill I hope to get a lot more restriction than what I have now...

I had my first sick moment about a week ago, I brought hubby a cheeseburger and decided I wanted to try some chips, had a couple and threw up  its strange how some things affect you nad others dont.

How are you going anyway Leah?? I ennjoy reading all your posts you seem to be going really well.....You go girl!!!!

Its all just too exciting sometimes i think:tongue_smilie:

I almost forgot

The cow (mother in law) was at my house the other night, she constantly goes on about how she is a size 14 and how much weight she lost and blah blah blah, she picks up her jacket and what do you know the size on the tag says 18 hahahahahahaaha,

Silly woman......I dont see why she lies about it

Im ahppy to say that I used to be a size 26 and now am down to a 22, Im not going to lie about my size

Yep, I was 24-26, and am now down to an 18 in most things. Loving it! I'd be happy to be a comfortable 12-14.

Re: your pain... I know its gross, but is there a chance you are constipated? Some times I have to resort to laxatives when Benefibre just doesn't help. I hate doing it cos I abused laxatives for a long time and it totally stuffed my bowels. Only got back to normal about 6 months ago. But sometimes I am in a lot of pain because I can't pass a bowel movement and it does feel like period pain. Gas also feels like period pain to me, so could be it! Hope so anyways, at least its a simple fix!

Hi, I was banded on 15/05/09 by Dr D'Onofrio. I had my first fill of 3.6ml on 11/06/09 and am due for another fill tomorrow. I have some restriction since my first fill but for some reason it seems to have settled down and my loss has stalled. I'm still in the process of giving up my love affair with food so this is probably adding to the stall as well, lol. Trying to be paitent!!!

Trish - congrats on your loss so far:thumbup:, must be awesome! I havent had any pains yet but ill let you know if something happens because im gym bound tomorrow morning im all clear to go! I would love to have a chat with your mother in law one day just so i can put her in her place just quietly tho:tt2:.

Leah - Good job on clothing size,:bored: youre almost there to be able to walk into store and pick anything you want and it will fit! I can not wait until that happens for me! I was a 22 when i started, and my 22 is now loose fitting and a really expensive suit i bought is a size 18 and i can do the pants up however i cant breathe so i can a couple more kg's and ill be right!

Angela - welcome!!!:scared2: small steps to the food and you will do awesome, how are you going with your total weight loss?

I went for my first Post Op appointment today - no fill i should be able to get that when i see Dr Kow again on the 28 July. The dietician is happy with my loss so far and said i have lost 13kgs since i first saw him in March woohoo. I am happy with that!

I also get to go the gym which i am happy about i have to keep my weight loss going but i have to take it easy until i complete their exercise thingo with the physiotherapist which i start on 6 August.

There was this one lady in the clinic this arvo who is having her band removed *eavesdropped on her conversation to her friend* because she believes she is too stressed and its impacting her band. Im not too sure what i think about that.

Congrats on being banded, Kitty, and good luck with the next four weeks of liquids and mushies.

I was sore and bloated for about a week after, so I know how you're feeling! Its definitely all worth it in the end though.

Hi Guys.

Well done to all on your success. I have a question as somebody who's considering having this surgery done.

Could you give me an idea on the costs and process that I need to go through (costs are obviously more important than anything I guess!)

Thanks for your help.

My surgeon had a no gap policy for the surgery however charged $2200 for specialists for post op appointments eg dietician etc. However in the lead up to the surgery those appointments where not covered and i probably spent $300 on visits.

I had my surgery by Dr Lilian Kow from Circle of Care or Adelaide Bariatric Centre at Flinders Private or Calvary Hospital. She was awesome. I would recommend them.

Thanks for that Jess. Sorry, not trying to be dumb (I emigrated from the UK about 3 years ago) and haven't had too much experience with the Medicare system. Do you mean your private insurance paid for it?

Sorry, not trying to be frustrating! Just clueless really.

Hi Spaniel,

I read somewhere that they don't do public patients (medicare funded) in SA, but happy to be proven wrong. If they do, then the wait is pretty long. Do you have private health? That would be the easiest way to have it done. You do have to wait 12 months though. Luckily I already had private health so as soon as I decided I wanted to have the surgery I was ready to go.

I was banded by Dr Justin Bessell at Calvary Wakefield. I highly recommend him and his team. He is a little more expensive than others but the service his clinic offers is second to none, in my opinion.

My out of pocket cost was about $3500 all up. That including a $1900 gap on the surgery, $400 private health excess, pre-op appointments around $500 and a few other bits.

Post op costs are about $150 every 3 months (that's after claiming dietician and psychologist costs from private health and fills on Medicare).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
