Who had the surgery and didn't loose weight pre op?

I've seen my dietician 4 times since Dec and still have not lost anything. She said Thursday (tomorrow) she will meet with the surgeon to see if he will fore-cast a date for me, she said he may want to see me again to see if there is enough room in my stomach ect.....I'm really nervous...

I was just wondering if there was anyone else who was required to loose weight, didn't and still had the surgery?

Thanks!

I didn't lose weight but my doctor didn't require me to lose anything before the surgery. I've heard many people on here say their doctor required a certain amount of weight loss before the surgery. I know for a fact that you will lose on your pre op diet. I had to see a dietician six times before I was approved. She weighed me before our meetings. I know that they say the insurance company wants to see some loss. Maybe you can call your insurance and see if there is a requirement. I know it's hard but try not to worry. Much love!

My insurance has actually already approved me. The doctor requires weight loss because it will shrink your liver which will make the surgery easier. I'm praying they set a date for me.

In the past I have always been on a plan when dieting (weighwatchers, jenny craig) and have always lost weight, however it didn't stay off, off the diet, weight comes back. But now that I am just trying to change my lifestyle the weight doesn't want to budge and I am discouraged!

I still cant get over how different doctors are. I weighed 250 when I had surgery and he only required a 3 day pre-op diet. I started losing right after surgery on the post op diet. Good luck, I hope you get your date.

Oh well that makes me feel more hopeful! Thank you for telling me that! They are meeting today to see if they can fore-cast a date for me, I'm calling tomorrow if I don't hear by then!
