Hello!! I am fixing to have the lap band done next month. I'm excited but a little nervous. I want to loose about 140 lbs. I think one of my main concerns about the whole procedure is the port. Does it hurt, just sitting there underneath the skin? Any words of encouragement would greatly be appreciated!!

I am pleased to say that you don't even know it's there maybe after a month or so sometimes I feel for it just to see if it's still there I am 9 months out and can't find it anymore but it's there  It does not hurt, well maybe the first 3 days or so if you move a certain way it can tug a bit and bring on some pain but it's not unbearable if you will...good luck and you will be fine promise!!!!

hi mandy & welcome, mostly i can feel my port, & sometimes if im sitting it makes me move position, its not painful just a bit uncomfortable until i move, which is good as i sit with a better posture now, bonus right?

If im laid in bed on my back i can feel my port easily, fet a bit weird at first until you get used to it, now its a part of me i excepted it & we get on just fine together

It probably will be the most painful part in healing but once you are healed you should rarely feel it inside you. Sometimes if I twist my body in a weird way I will feel a faint pinching and now that I have lost the weight I can easily feel it with my fingers but you should generally feel no discomfort.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
