Hi. I just found out on 5/5 that my denial has been reversed and I have been approved! Got a call from my surgeon's office yesterday with a surgery date of May 19th! I'm freakin out a little because I wasn't expecting it to be so soon. Any advice?

I guess the best advise I have is to follow all the instructions to the letter. And plan on some discomfort. Then if for some reason you're out and about quickly, at least you were prepared if it doesn't work that way. I think I overdid it a bit today and am a bit sore but not in horrible pain.

Hi Everyone,

I will find out Monday when my surgery will be scheduled. It is necessary for me to do the two week liquid only diet. When I asked why, I was told that they wanted to shrink the liver?? It seems that if the liver is too large it has to be lifted in order to have enough room to perform the surgery.

Hey everyone,

I'm a Mayo bandito too

:glare:

Had my band done on May 7th. A little sore, and getting fluids down very slowly.

Good luck and prayers to all who are being banded this month. We are off on our journey.

Hi, everyone. I will be banded on May 21st and have my pre-op on Monday 11th. I'm really getting excited and nervous at the same time.

Hi everyone! I too am being banded on May 19th. I just found out last week when my surgery date is. I haven't even had my pre-op with the doc yet. It's scheduled for 5/13/09. Not much time for a pre-op diet. Getting nervous!

:rolleyes:My "Ground Zero" date is this friday.. May 15th!!! :frown:

I'm excited, yet nervous!

i've been on the liquid diet since thurs morning and i want to shoot myself.!!!! I have 10 more days to go!!! the protein shakes ( slim fast optima) are making me nauseous. I can only have maybe 1 or 2 a day bc ive been dry heaving after i drink them. Im supposed to be having 5 a day!!! Almost everything is making me wanna throw up....carrots...im over it....fat free salad dressing...barf...clear broth...grossies!!!! all i want is a grilled cheese and fries!!! im dyin over here....if anyone can help me with some acceptable alternatives please let me know.....im dyin over here!

ladyLaLa, I've been doing the shake diet for one week now. My doctor wants me to have 3 shakes a day, and 5 fruits/veggies a day, and then a meal for dinner that consists of one protein, brown rice, and veggies. I feel your pain. I've gotten used to it now. I've been drinking this kind of protein shake from Costco called Premier Nutrion shakes. Before that I was taking the Ensure High Protein. I like the Costco ones much better, they taste like low cal chocolate milk. The best advice I can give is to just plug along the best you can. It's not fun, but it's for our health. Try to just chug the shakes or sip through a straw and the taste/smell isn't as bad. I have a hard time with 3 a day, I can't imagine having 5. I hope you can get through it. I have one week left, I'll be down one week from today. I'm down 9 pounds since last Monday, and that's what is keeping me going. Try to just drink/eat what you have to and then find stuff to take your mind off of it. It's hard, but we can do it! Best of luck to you.

hey hun, thanks for your reply....youre so lucky u can have fruit!!!! all im allowed to have is clear low sodium broth, sugar free Jello, diet caffiene free soda or coffee, non starchy veggies, fat free salad dressing

and the 5 slim fasts a day. (barf):frown:

i think once i get a scale and see if i lost any weight then i might feel more motivated. Its just sooooo hard....id almost rather have no slim fasts at all. i just cant get them down.

:thumbup:congrats on losing 9 pounds! thats great girl! keep it up.

i just found a great "fat free" salad dressing on RecipeZaar.com

im gonna try it with my lettuce later

Fat Free Asian Salad Dressing

SERVES 4 , 1/2 cup </SPAN>(change servings and units)

Ingredients

There are 2 options for preparing this dressing.

You can either whir ingredients in blender, which makes it a little frothy.

Or, you can finely mince the garlic and ginger and whip the rest of the ingredients together with a wire whisk.

Hello all May Bandsters... My surgery is scheduled for Thursday the 14th. Only a couple more days. Tuesday (tomorrow!) night will be the "last real supper " for a while. Wed I have to do a liquid diet, and Thursday surgery. I am excited and nervous both. I got up the nerve to tell a few coworkers about it and they gave me the "Are you sure? That seems so drastic" lines. I am so motivated about having this done. I have been struggling all of my life with weight. My father passed away at 52 from heart disease, I lost both of my Grandfathers when they were in their 60's from heart disease. And a Grandmother at 61 from heart disease. Not such great odds? It is up to me to break this cycle for me and for my family. And I need to do it with all my heart, and want everything on my side to be able to succeed. I am ready. Just wanted to share. Heather
