Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry this is so late, but wanted to say Best Wishes to all the April 1 bandsters! I'll be thinking about you all day tomorrow and praying that all goes well.

I am so excited for you and all of us....When I look at the list of all the bunnies who will be banded in April, it is amazing to me - that we have grown to such a large group, and when I think of all the support and advice we've received and given, and how we will be here for one another for a long time to come....and tomorrow marks the beginning of ALL of our new lives!

I can't wait to hear how the surgeries go....Best Wishes!!

I've been using a plastic coffee mug with a lid for my Protein Shakes, etc. and it's awesome! It's very discreet and everyone will think you're just drinking coffee or tea! I recommend plastic instead of metal, because I didn't think milk would taste very good from metal cup. Good luck! Go get 'em tiger!

......the 'I'm mad as heck' one that was linked...

BG I agree, I've only spot read this thread but it looks like someone who wanted the band to do all the work. Thanks for all the info post it's really helpful.

Now about me...lol....

No pre-op diet just watch carbs even though it's tuff I envy those of you who have a set pre-op plan. I was going to start cutting meals and adding protien drinks and came down with a allergy attack or sinus something so I'm nervous about not being able to have surgery I got a script today to take till the day before surgery hopefully that will knock this out.

I do however have a 2 day cleans diet...yeah one of the rules is no red or "grape" colored liquids...another is no dairy (the thought of making protien drinks with Water UGH)

broth has protien but not much...guess I'll mix vanilla with jello.....

Anyway I ramble sorry...so many thoughts and questions seems like it took forever and now it's here..just 9 days away.

Okay so this is it!

Its 6.10am here and my surgery is in less than 2 hours. Just woke up, gonna have a shower and then pop down to the hospital. Feel like throwing up I am so nervous!! Hopefully I live to see another, much thinner and healthier day!

Will keep you posted! Thanks for all your support thus far! Good luck to any other April 2nd (and April 1 as it is probably still that in America) bunnies, I'll be thinking of you. xxx

Good luck to all bunny bandster today. You guys will be in our prayers and thoughts.

My surgery is in a week; however, I am suffering from this sinus thing that has been going on for almost a month now. I just got my second round of antibiotic and hopefully it will be clear up by this coming Monday, if not, the doctor will call off my surgery.

I don't have a pre-op diet either, I think I'll create my own...maybe high Protein and a few shakes. How many shakes (slim fast or carnation) are you guys allowed each day?

OK, there's a sinus thing running rampant through the Bunnies...hope you both feel better...it would be awful to reschedule, but you have time left to get well, so rest up!

BG, CONGRATS on finally getting that date!!! I know how exciting it was for me when I finally had a date to concentrate on!

Hannah, you are doing great! Just focus on what you are doing for YOU...don't worry too much about those meanies. I know high school can be rough and kids are often unkind, but as someone else said, it will not always be that way. Soon, you are gonna have so many people wanting to know more about how you are transforming yourself. You will have so much attention (positive attention) you won't know what to do with it! HUGS...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
