BigBossMan, sorry to hear of your trouble. Hang in there!

Second week went pretty well, down another five pounds or so, for a total of almost 20 lost since the surgery date (3/19, my surgeon did not require a pre-op diet, only 24 hrs. of liquids before the procedure). Also pulled the belt in a notch, and am contemplating dropping a pant size, from 44 to 42. Mushy week went well, added sugar-free low fat pudding, Chiobani yogurt, Protein shakes. I also managed to eat a few Chick-fil-a nuggets, about four small ones, they went down pretty well and made me happy, since I only love Chick-fil-a. No more Buns or fries, though! I get a little hungry at times, so I try some Jell-o, or half a Protein shake, and that usually gets me through.

Fill date: 4/13. I'll report back! Best of luck everyone!

Hey Guys,

Well trip to the hospital on Fri. They pumped 2 lts of fluids in me it took 2 1/2 hers. The 1st bag was clear looking Water the 2nd was yellow looking so i was playing a game in my head that that was Mt Dew :welldoneclap: . My doc came in and said that there was swelling and the bottom of my lap band and i have to wait till it gone before i can drink liquids. So i haven't had and to drink since then and i think i might go till Mon before i can. I put Water in my mouth swish it around and spit it out. Its a F--king drag. If i could drink i'd feel better.

What are you guys drinking now ? How my Oz are you at ? Has anyone had a soda ? All i want is a Pepsi I don't drink, smoke, or swear much. Pepsi was my only vice.. I wounder if i let it go flat then drink it ? Lol.. I'm getting goofy so i better get off for now. Hope you all have a Great Weekend.

WOW, BIGBOSSMAN, I can't imagine. I drink all I want, I just don't want much. I drink Protein Water, bottled water with a Special K 5gm protein pack added to it. I think I have to drink protein, since I use to drink 6-10 bottles of water a day, now I am good to get 2-3 in. Just don't want it. I understand about the cokes. I use to drink 12 16oz diet cokes a day, I reduce by one every 15 days till I was diet coke free and have not had any additional desire for them. The only thing I drink now is the protein waters and the shakes. Still just eating one meal a day, but I am feeling good. Hope you come out of this soon, it has to be a drag.

Hey guys....Been out of town and didn't have much of a chance to look or post. It sucks for BigBossMan about his ordeals. I hope you keep your eye on the prize. There is a quote that I like to use with my team and it goes something like "the harder you work at something, the more you appreciate it and the harder it is to quit". Keep it going! The light at the end of the tunnel will be so bright it will hurt our eyes. BTW I did experience the hic ups quite a bit the first few days. Haven't had them since.

As for me, I'm good. Staying on the plan and dropping steadily. I must say that I feel a little more hungry than I wish to be but my Pre-op discipline has allowed me to resist. I think I may be in need of a fill. I'm gonna stick it out and try to go the whole month. Other than that, life is good and getting better. My wife has been quite impressed with my recent performances (if you kow what I mean). Wishing you all the best!

Hey BigBossMan

It would be nice. I wish I was close to Kileen. I am about 4 hrs south of Austin in the bottom half of the state. I live in Laredo, which is right on the Rio Grande River. But I do get around the state for football clinics. Keep me posted, I might just be at one close to you. Just got back from Dallas (SMU). Went to talk to June Jones and staff about what they do. It was great. Get well soon!

Coach, sounds like your right on target, that is awesome. I had heard that as your weight drops your performance improves. Glad to know there is some truth to that...Continue to inspire.

What did you eat today ? Now think of the goal we set all of us and get back on the track. There will be days you fall off. Just make sure you get back on the track and move on to the next day.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
