Hello Helena,

No question is dumb. We here are all still learning. I had never had surgery before I had LapBand. I was terrified, but it was the easiest and best thing I have ever done. I had mine in Sept 2008 and have since surgery date lost 51 pounds. YAY! Anyway, maybe your boss had some type of other health issue where the had to loosen the band. Just remember everyone is different and may experience different issues or problems after their surgery. The main thing is do what your surgeon says and follow guidelines. Good Luck!!!

I cannot feel the band around my stomach. But I do feel restriction when I eat. I have lost around 37 pounds since November and have not had any major problems.

Sorry to hear about your boss in her troubles.

Good luck with the surgery!

I'm sorry to hear about your boss. Your question is a very good one.

I can't feel my band, but it does restrict the amount of food I can eat, so in that way, I know it's there. It did kind of seem a wee bit strange a time or two the first couple of days knowing the band was cinching my stomach, but still, it wasn't due to me actually having any feeling that it was there, it was the thought of it.

Hopefully, you'll have a psychologist appt prior to your surgery, so you can discuss this with a professional. If you were to have an issue with having the band, I really don't think it would be due to the actual sensation of the band itself. However, if this is something that you would mentally have an issue with, you certainly want to have it worked out prior to getting a band.

I do not feel the band around my stomach. There is no sensation of my stomach being squeezed. I have no awareness that it is there except for when I eat too much. And even then, it isn't the band I feel, but my stomach telling me I've had too much.

Do you have panic attacks and are you on medication and is it working? panic attacks are debilitating and unnecessary. Stay on your doctor to change prescriptions until you find a medication that works, different things work well on different people. But I do know why you pose the question; feeling trapped, suffocated and worrying if the band will make you feel that way.

YES. I CAN feel my band. not all of the time, but in the morning when I wake, I can feel the band. IT is NOT painful or uncomfortable. But, I can feel the tightness of where it is. No biggie, though.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
