Around the first of the year, it felt like all of a sudden my band disappeared. I had no more restriction. I called the doctor's office and was told I probably just need a fill and set up an appointment. Yesterday I went for the fill with a hunch that it was more than just needing a fill but hoping that was it.

The doctor was giving me 1 cc on top of the 8 I had already. When she was pulling out the existing fill, she could only get 3 cc out. She went ahead and gave me 1 more cc to bring me up to 4 cc. I had 5 cc when they put the band in. I am going backwards!

So I go back Feb 16 to see if I have lost more. Then, more than likely, another surgery to replace the port.

I am so bummed! I was doing so well then, when this happened, it was like I hit a brick wall. I gained a few pounds last week but I have got them off with the 2 days liquid. I am just horrified that weight is going to come packing on.

Any words of wisdom?

The band isnt magic, its what you eat and how you exercise that truly determines what you weigh.

I know, we all NEED our bands. But you do have some control over what happens here. All of us have dieted in the past, most of us have had success at one time or another. This is just another of those times where you need to diet.

You may not do it perfectly, you may indeed gain a bit of weight. But you CAN contain it.

Especially if you keep up your exercise.

Good luck.

When I had my second fill on the 16th, I asked my surgeion "all 4 cc came out right?" he said he could only get 2 cc out - I kind of freaked and he said let me try again and he was able to get 4cc out before he added 2 more cc in. He said something like he wasn't in the exact right spot the first time. Did your doctor try a second time to withdraw the original ccs?

No words of wisdom. Just lots of support, prayers and hugs that this turns out okay.

Let us know what happens and how you're doing.

Both Jack and Jacqui have some great advice. Take it to heart.

Hang in there!

DOH! Eat well, make good choices and keep up the exercise. If it is that you will need a new port and you put on weight whilst waiting for that, just try and think of it as a small setback and that you'll be back on track in due time!

Well I am through with my pity party and back on track. I have hit the gym 3 times this week and plan on a couple more through weekend. I am really watching what I eat even more than when I felt like I was at my sweet spot. No, the doctor didn't try another time but I am more than certain I have a leak. I can feel absolutely no restriction.Thank you all for your words of wisdom and support. It really helped.

Oh no, that stinks!

Hang in there, at least there is a plan in place. Now that you know that there is a problem you can fix it.

Keep up the great work you are doing with your exercise and you will continue to lose while you are waiting for your port replacement.

accountess, GOOD ONYA hunny!

It will be good to get the leak fixed, but in the meantime it sounds like you're making sure you're on the right track, and you can't be anything be proud of yourself for that!

So I had to jump through a lot of hoops, but I am finally getting my band fixed. For 3 months I have been virtually band free. I have no restriction whatsoever. My eating has increased which caused me to gain 10 pounds but then I got my rear in gear and lost 5 of that.

Tomorrow morning is my port replacement surgery. I am almost as nervous as when I got my band way back in August but very happy to be getting back on track again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
