How Many cc's in your band and how is

Recommended Posts

Now I have 8 cc's in my band after my 2nd fill in a week (yesterday). I don't really know that I feel much more restriction than I did before. Hopefully, I will.

Hi, I had 7.8 cc for the last weeks and didn't have any restriction. My weight has been swingging back and forth within 2 lbs for the last 4-6 weeks. I just got another fill this morning and I am up to 8.4 cc now. I really really want this one to work. Has the 8 cc worked for you now? Do you have restriction now? Do you have a regular realize band or realize C? I have realize C.

I received 8.2 last week on my fill and now think I am going to have good restriction. I did the liquids for 2 days and now Soups and mushies this week. Some crackers weren't good yesterday so I will avoid those for awhile.

Hi -

I just saw this Realize Band group. I was banded with the Realize C band on June 18th, 2009. I had my first fill a little over a week ago. I now have 5cc in my band. I'm going for my second fill on Aug. 25th. I have a little restriction now, but I'd like more.

Almost 45 pounds down since I started my pre-op diet a little over 2 months ago, and not looking back! Excited to be healthy and thin!

Good luck to everyone :)

I've got a 12cc band with 9cc in it and no restriction. It has 10cc max. I get another fill next week. I'm so worried about what happens if you get to max without restriction.

And yes they checked the Fluid level.

I see a pattern here with so many posters having more than 7.5cc's with little to no restriction. It concerns me. Surely we can't have 10 cc bands filled to 10cc's with no restriction, lol! That's my fear albeit I don't really beleive that will happen. I find that I have been eating more at night for the past week and poor food choices. The stress is getting to me. Time to turn over a new leaf with my temporary setback. I have made an appointment to see my Dr. at the end of the month but I am thinking about making another appointment for a fill before that.

EmmaWang, I can't tell the difference now that I have 8cc's in my band. I believe I have the Realize band. When I look at the card I don't see anything on it to indicate "Realize C." The PA tells me that the band will hold 10cc's.

StartingOverNJ, Regarding the fills, I trust the PA's with the fill since they always get the port on the first try and it's verified when they measure what's in there (on the next fill). Since this is the case I'm not concerened with the office not using a fluoroscope if the reason for the fluoroscope is for making sure you fill the port. Are there other advantages to using a fluoroscope?

Sissyh1006, How are you doing with 8.2cc's?

isaviolinist, 45 lbs. is awesome!

I didn't feel any restriction at all until I reached 7cc in my 11cc band. Even now I don't have a lot of restriction, but I feel it working and it keeps me in check.

However, one thing my Dr. told me that i haven't seen anyone here mention is that while he put 7cc in, I only have 6.5 in the band. He told me that .5 is lost to the tubing on the way to the band. So I don't under stand people who say the have a 11cc band with a max fill of 10cc. That would only put 9.5 in the band. odd

I'm glad I'm reading these posts because I am really frustrated. I am at 6cc's in a realize band and the only restriction I have is I can't eat the roll with a hamburger or hotdog. If I have Protein ie chicken, cheese etc.. I can eat quite a bit. No where near the 1/2 cup serving they talked about. My doctor makes me wait 6 weeks now in between fills and I have had 3 fills. I have only lost 12 pounds which I lost the first 2 weeks after surgery. After that I have lost NOTHING. I keep thinking what have I gained from this? Hopefully, the next fill will get me to my sweet spot - I am really praying - I'd be happy losing 1 pound a week at this point, at least it would be something!

Hi Everyone-

I am struggling with not being able to reach restriction as well. Someone asked is it possible to fill to the max and not be able to reach restriction?? The answer is YES! I am living proof. I have the Realize C band and I am at 12.5 ccs and still NO RESTRICTION WHATSOEVER!! (I just put a post out there titled "HELP!! Overfill and still no restriction)..

I have been exercising and working off sheer will power to ensure I don't regain the little I have lost thus far. Talk about frustrated! Oh well, hopefully it will get better soon...

Just wanted to update. I had my 2nd fill today of 2cc. In total, I have 7cc in my Realize C Band. I'm on liquids for 3 days, so I don't know if I'll have restriction but I'm certainly hoping for it when I can start on regular foods in a few days.

lbhope2009,

I am so sorry to hear this. What does your doctor say?:) Where in the world do you go from here?

poconomom,

I feel your pain! Sounds very much like me but I have been able to get fills more often than once a month. I had no idea my doctor would allow fills more often than once a month until I asked point blank ...so perhaps you can ask your Dr. and they will make an exception. Good luck!:)

I did go see my Dr. yesterday. I am almost 6 months (24 weeks) out and have 8.5cc's in my band. I have only lost 21.5 lbs. & 9 of that was in the first 2 weeks. I am feeling some restriction now, however, I am definately not at the sweet spot. My Dr. has scheduled a fluoroscope on 9/9/09 at 9:00 (how's that for a date?). He thinks I am VERY close. He showed me 3 color photos of my surgery with the band inserted. He sees no reason why I should have so much Fluid in my band with little restriction. I really do feel now that I am very close to the proper restriction but decided to go ahead with the fluroscope just incase that's not so.

FYI, I did find out the difference in the Realize Band vs. Realize C Band. The Realize Band is not prefectly round, when inserted. It has more of a loop shape. The Realize C band goes on perfectly round.

I had 5 cc's in my band with absolutley no restriction. I went back in and had 2 more added and was so tight I couldn't swallow Water so they took 1 out. I went back in two weeks later because I was having alot of acid reflux and indigestion and they took all the Fluid out and said I should wait a month and than start over. I was back in the office ten days later because the acid reflux got much worse and I couldn't sleep at all. They sent me over to the hospital for the swallow test and told me my band slipped for the second time. I was not sick, I was able to eat, I was not in pain, I had no symptoms of a slip other than the acid reflux. I went in for emergency surgery that night and I am now two weeks out with no band :) The doctor does not know why it slipped the second time other than once you have a slip you are much more likely to have another one. The only problem I had was when they put 2 cc's in, I went to the grocery store accross the street, couldn't swallow the water and was back in the office in an hour. I am very sad and very disappointed with my experience with the band. I had a great experience the first time for a good year and a half until I got very sick and due to several days of throwing up from the flu it slipped and had to be removed and replaced. I do not regret getting the band I just never thought in a million years that I would be one of the few with complications.

my doc just gave me a fill for a total of 3.75 (which could be 4.75 due to the extra cc that they say could reside in the band... but I am having a really tough time, I am actually gaining some and can eat wayyy more than I should be (yes, that part is on me I know). I am going to schedule another appt to see about getting aggressive on my fill but I have to commit to workign at it harder as well. has anyone else gone through this... I am drinking alchohol now and I am wondering it that is a part of it... not carbonation, but lots of sugary mixes (margaritas, etc.). Any tips to get back on track... I was losing with no problem but now I have seemed to get a taste for larger portions again and sweets... man, I really loved the first 6 months when it was soo easy to lose. the past 5 months seems to be a lot harder (coming up on my 1 year) and I am down considerably but not where I want to be.

I had surgery on 27-July, had my first fill on 14-Aug & had 5cc's added. There has been some minimal restriction, but I'm really looking forward to my next fill this Friday!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
