First Fill to Work?????

Recommended Posts

So I got a fill last Tuesday and the past two days I have had a hard time eating foods that have not caused any porblems before, is this normal? I tried a small piece of roast and of course that did not work. No suprise on that one. Then I had carrots last night and o my goodness it was aweful, now I know what people mean by they have something stuck. This morning I tried to have some eggs and they would not go down and I ended up getting sick in the bathroom. I am not sure if I am to full or if I am just not taking my time eating as slow as I need to. This is the first time with all my fills that I have had any restriction, I am thinking that this is what I have been looking for but it was kinda scary too. Okay so who else is having these types of issues? Please help me to know that I am not the only one and that it will get better, I will still be able to eat. I want to lose weitght that is for sure that was the reason for the surgery. Please let me know it will all be okay.

If you are able to drink OK then I think you might need to chew extra carefully and cut your food even smaller than you have been. My latest fill has caused me to get stuck on things I NEVER got stuck on before, and I don't even have great restriction!!! A simple banana got me this morning, surprise surprise!! Good luck, and if it doesn't get better you might want to call the doctor's office to discuss a small unfill.

I just had my first fill that WORKS too! I went on for my 3rd fill which put me up to 5cc in a 10. All day I wouldn't even keep Water down -- it just kind of sat in my throat. Not terribly uncomfortable but it just very SLOWLY went down. If I burped it just came up. I finally called my dr. at 3 p.m. She told me to come back and she removed .5.

Now I can swallow liquids fine but I now know what all of those handouts/discussion were regarding tiny bites -- eat slowly -- avoid XYZ, etc. is all about.

I can eat 1/5 of what I ate before and be really SATISFIED. NOT stuffed.

I was beginning to REALLY doubt whether this band was going to work for me but I now understand the SWEET SPOT! I think I am going to taste SUCCESS for the first time :-)

Are you getting your fluids down okay? If fluids are going down okay, I would say eat slower and chew chew chew before you swallow.

Your stomach is trying to get use to this new fill, so perhaps sticking to fluids or mushies right now, before solids. My doctor has us do two days fluids and two days mushies, before we have solids.

I had this same problem before after a fill. However, the problem was that once I got something stuck, my stomach would swell a little and then I would keep getting stuck on everything.

I have since learned that after I am stuck, I absolutely must go on liquids for 1-2 days and then my stomach goes back to normal. When I don't do this, I keep getting progressively more stuck.

If you can get liquids down safely . . . I would suggest you spend 1-2 days on liquids. Afterwards go from mushies to solid food. You can also drink something hot before to help loosen your band a little. However, when you do go to solids you will probably need to chew more and go slower than ever before. Every level of tighter restriction brings a need for following the bandster rules in a more strict fashion.

I probably should have also said, if you ever get to the point where you are throwing up liquid or they just wont go down, call your doctor immediately. If it dangerous to stay tight to the point where liquids wont pass.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
