February '09 bandsters?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on the 10th. I was able to sleep on my stomach in two days, walking on treadmill in three days. I did not drive till one week, but that is because we live in the country and it is a long drive to go anywhere. I just stayed home and enjoyed doing nothing! Best of luck. This is the best decision I have made.

When I could not sleep I would count the months and what I should weigh on the first day of that month. It was so fun and I always feel to sleep before I got totally skinny!

I was banded on the 3rd and didn't have any shoulder pain. But I did have the gas in my upper chest. I suggest like everyone else.. walk walk walk... the more I walked the better it got. So no not everyone gets it. And it depends on the level of pain one can handle as to how bad it is. To me the heprin shot was a lot worse than the gas by far.

PS.. I also used a heating pad on my back and it made things it seemed to move around a bit.

Good Luck and it is really not so bad.

Ok guys I have to confess here in the forum because i will not admit to my nutrionist or surgeon that i really messed up and i hope it doesnt cost me big.......Okk i couldnt take it anymore...no more liquids:cursing:.. spoke to the nutrionist to day and i am 14 days post op. she stated i could eat mushies..and that seemed to be the green light for me to just eat, eat and eat. i mean i didnt really go crazy, but crazy enough:w00t: ok i started out ok with 2 boiled eggs whih was good and went down ok. then i made bbq chicken wings, stuffing, and stringbeans. i ate about three spoonfuls of stuffing 4 canned string Beans and didnt injest but picked at a chicken wing. Ok yes i am full, but more scared. i also ate a few puffy cheesedoodles those jsut melted in my mouth. this is not at one sitting, but throughout a 7 hour period. i hope i didnt hurt myself. i felt no pain and it seemed to go down ok. im okay and will follow the rule, i think i had to just get that out of my system. i was hunry and hated liquids, been on them for 2 weeks straight and it hs been killing me. i see the surgeon on friday for my first post op check-up. please pray for me that everything goes ok and i have no major damage like slippage or problems. i am really scared now. has this happened to anyone else...help:w00t:

You'll be fine mainly because you have a low bmi already, I am 6 days post op and my surgeon knows I'm eating, just as long as you dont get anything stuck, that what could do the damage, if you stick to looser foods it might stop you craving things which are too solid. dont beat yourself up. Well done you have been so good so far.

The IV was the thing that worried me the most and the dr who put it in was so good I did not even feel it. The next morning after my xray they took it out and let me have something to eat, ok, to drink! LOL As for shoulder pain, I did not have any and the RN told me most people here don't. I too had the pain in the middle of my chest, but it was kind of like heartburn pain not a real pain. After I walked it went away. So, like everyone says, do that walking and you will be just fine.

Getting banded on February 24th. I'm a little nervous because I just started with a cold today. I am on day 8 of liquids. Cheated with lobster and baked potatoe two nights ago. That was my only cheat and I pray I didn't blow it. I had no idea that surgery could be delayed if my liver does not shrink enough. My surgeon or nutritionist never put that fear in me or I would not have cheated. I thought the liquid diet was to get you used to what you would be allowed to have right after the surgery. I did not understand the whole liver shrinking fully until now. I am coughing some with this cold. I am afraid what pain I will have with coughing afterward. Thank God for Oxycodone Syrup.< /p>

I was done on the 18th and was mostly out of it that day and yesterday. The cuts weren’t too bad, but the shoulder pain was a little intense. Today (day 3) feeling pretty good. Shoulder pain is mostly gone and the cuts just sting a bit, but very tolerable. There is occasional tightness in my chest, but I think that may be from drinking too fast. I dove a lot today with no problems.

Yes all good so far I've tried porridge oats, potatoes mashed, cauiflower cheese, corned beef pie, yogurts, stewed rubarb, toasted fruit loaf very small nibbles and very slowly, fish pie,

I dont have any hunger pangs, and I started eating quite small amounts, tea plate/saucer sized, but all is going down ok.

I am 1 week post op and have lost 7lb, my stiches come out on monday. woop woop. my starting bmi is 35, and my first fill is on the 27th March, I had my surgery in Belgium there's a lot less fuss about the proceedure there compared to other countries, and the cost is good, a lot less than in the UK.

I was banded on the 3rd- never had any other surgeries, so I was nervous about the anesthesia too. It wasn't all that bad- just felt very sleepy for the following 12 hours.....

I have no doubt that you will do fine!

good luck,

o.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
