Not sure whether I believe him or not and quite frankly, don't really care. .

i thought it was funny al roker wouldn't let up on it & it more than took over the interview, which jillian tried to difuse "somewhat".

he said he & his wife plan on running a marathon in april - you can bet he'll be in redeeming mode.

thought he looked good!

I a very common thing among the MO is an aversion to taking personal responsibility for their actions.

Eh, I don't think it's any more common among the MO than it is the general population. Some people have an internal locus of control and see their actions as controlling what happens to them. Others have an external locus of control and see no connection. Stuff just "happens" to them. I knew a lot of people like that growing up poor of various weights.

As for Dane, I think he got caught up in the moment and made a bad choice and now he doesn't want to admit it on national TV. I'm not sure that's the same thing. Lots of people don't want to admit it publicly when they made a mistake.

And, really, whether he went back and did the whole thing or not, running a marathon straight up is much different than running it in pieces so I still say he didn't do a marathon.

This will ruffle some feathers, but so be it: a very common thing among the MO is an aversion to taking personal responsibility for their actions. Things 'happen to them' a lot. WE are responsible for our actions. WE choose the consequences. WE choose what we eat, what we do, whether we exercise, where we live, what our situation is. If something 'can't be changed,' all that means is we don't want to deal with the impact of making a decision to change it. If you look, you'll see that attitude all over this board, especially among those who's band is "is failing me".

"To desire the end is to desire the means to that end. If you are unwilling to embrace all actions required to achieve it, you never really wanted it at all." -- SM Stirling

Thank you for going there. I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed. Prior to getting banded, I didn't hang around very many who are MO and so I never gave it much thought but now that I'm banded and see all these postings on the LBT site, I've been overwhelmed and disgusted at the number of whiners who feel the universe is out to get them, including their band doctors, nurses and other bandees.

I, myself, am just paranoid and believe there are conspiracies everywhere -- but just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me. he he

Keeping in mind the cliche that theres no such thing as a dumb question, could someone please tell me what a MO is, I'm lost

I'm so ticked at ABC.com... I missed the Wednesday show last week (and my recorder went pffft), and I've been trying for nearly a week now to find it on their site, but the only one they have is from the week prior!! I haven't even been coming here so as not to have it spoiled for me, but I guess as of tonight all bets are off since I can do the figuring myself.

I think you're dead on. I do a lot of sleep studies for pre-band folks. I hear all the time: I'm supposed to be on the pre-op liquid diet, but I ate McDonalds for dinner. There's no way I can stay on that diet because [fill in the blank]. I usually mildly admonish them by saying "well, you know, the pre-op diet is really for your safety". Then the excuses really start a-flowing. Whatever.....I don't say any more after that.

A couple of quick thoughts:

1) Two-part episodes annoy me

2) The Jillian/Laura dynamic is a great example of what I was speaking of earlier. It's not fair, people are mean, blah blah. Focus on you, take responsibility, and kick some butt.

I did really feel for Laura though when she spoke about needing to be loved. I hope she gets some psychological help after she burns off the weight. Sugar Ray hit it on the head (so to speak) about this being as much a mind problem as a physical one.

3) I really dislike this pressure they're placing on Mike. The thing doesn't hinge on him, and the team shouldn't be thinking that way.

4) I bet they're missing Dane right about now...

5) I love Tara telling team Blue they were stupid about that choice :)

Sorry, yep, NBC. I had checked the right website (just mentioned the wrong one here ), but they didn't have it. And though I haven't checked in the last few days, hulu didn't have last Wednesday's episode either.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
