He everyone-I was banded on Nov 20 and today is Dec28 and I have only lost 10lbs although I did lose 8 before surgery. Is that normal or is it really slow.

It's normal. My doc says it can take up to 6 MONTHS to really start losing....but then he is pretty conservative with the fills. I gained back about half after I went off liquids post op and just now with fill 3 have started losing. However, I haven't been dieting or anything, either (some do...but I didn't get the band so I could "diet", I got the band so I could live without obsessing about food. We all have our ways to work this tool!)

Anyway my point is to give it a chance. Just follow your docs rules and don't worry! You're doing fine!

It is totally normal. I was banded June 23 2008 and I only lost 1 lb for the first 4 months. As it turned out the fill nurse who was later fired had not put any fill in even though I had been in for a fill every month and I thought I had about 4.5 in 10cc band. The doctor came in the last time and took everything out only to discover that nothing was in there. Anyway he put way too much in (6.7) and I had to have some taken out. I think he was over compensating and felt bad that I hadn't lost any weight. Now I have lost about 25 lbs. I guess my point is everybody is different with different doctors, different bodies and different mental states. Don't worry, it does take time to adjust and figure out how to make the band work for you. I'm sure you will do great. Don't be impatient believe me it will happen. Good luck, Rita

Rita - Everyone is different - and if you're not tired of hearing that already, you will get there *lol*. But, really, any weight loss is something to pat yourself on the back about. If it makes you feel better about yourself, I will tell you that I am 19 mos out from surgery and haven't lost a single pound since the day I left the hospital. I lost 10-12 pounds on the PRE-op diet, but nothing since then. I try really hard to keep my head up, and I have to look at my story as success, only because without the band, I would be much heavier. At least, the band has kept me from gaining. That being said, to ease your mind about my lack of success -- I directly relate my issues to me not working with the band, and instead believing that the band will work by itself. I will tell you that it does not - only took me

1 1/2+ years to admit that! (sometimes I'm a slow learner!) Seriously, be proud of yourself. Don't be so hard on yourself - it's way too early in the game for you to do that! How long did it take you to put the weight on? Probably longer than 1 mo and 8 days. Relax. You can and will do this.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
