Any February 2009 Bansters?

Recommended Posts

I had mine on Monday. I felt wonderful. I thought "cake walk." Now it is Wednesday morning, and I am much more sore. Not unbearable, but the port and fullness has made itself known. Still, I am feeling good. Tuesday might be a little early, but i guess it can be done.

I was banded yesterday 2-19-09 and I got to come home the same night. My doctor put me first so I didn't have to wait too long (thank goodness) cause I was pretty nervous. I can honostly say though, it was not so bad. I felt great afterwards and was up walking and came home and walked more. My torso is kind of sore, but the pain is tolerable. I am going to try to go to work on Tuesday, but I have a desk job, so it should be fine. I think everyone is different because I have read some postings that weren't so positive. So far I'm very pleased with the whole experience and I lost 18 lbs pre op already. I'm soooo excited!!!!!

Six days out and i was able to coach my 15's volleyball team all day at a tournament. I am not always careful when I throw a ball or bend to pick one up and Im sure that I might feel it tonight. hard part was not eating throughout the day. I couldn't eat any concessions, so I had two protien drinks and Water. By the end of the day I was feeling pretty weak. I get burpy whenever i eat or drink. I really hope that goes away.

Hey everyone... I was banded Feb 18, 2009... Just checking to see how everyone is doing???

I was banded on 2/13....and I am doing extremely well...where my incisions are still make pants fun, but after the first week, I was able to wear normal waisted pants, and the bruising has gone down a lot. I used an ice pack around the port site to keep the soreness and swelling down...but so far so good. Meet with the doc today at 4, so we shall see.

P.S. Nice Phil 4 reference  Mine is 1 Cor 10:31 PTL!

I'm kinda new to this forum. I looked at it a few times over the last year and am back now. I started seriously thinking about wls since my best friend had it done in Aug. It's done wonders for her health and weight.

I was concerned I wouldn't qualify because I haven't had a lifelong struggle with weight. It's only been the last few years that my weight has gotten completely out of control. To be fair I have been overweight for a number of years but it has gotten worse the last 3.- enough so that I qualified with no other issues.

Anyway- I finally went to a seminar in Dec and am having the surgery on Fri Feb 27. I did all my pre-op stuff yesterday. Getting excited and anxious.

I dropped 10 lbs since my first visit with the surgeon in Jan. The bad part of the surgery is I will have to stop with the new changes I've made (exercise and better eating) for the next few weeks! I am ready to get this going though and know I will be back up exercising soon.

I had a 40ishm BMI, and I haven't always been big. I started about 10 years ago. I kept complaining to the doctor that I was gaining tons. She blamed it on my age at the time. I was 30. She checked my thyroid a couple of times, and it would always come back normal, but the highest range. Finally after 5 years and not being able to lift my arms because of weakness she checked it again and I was off the roof. I wonder if she would have given me medication when I was 160 pounds I would have gained the weight. Now I am on it, and can't eat small enough portions on my own to lose the weight. I am hoping that the lap-band works because it limits my food intake to what my body will burn off using the sythroid. Sometimes I wonder if I could have lost it one more time on my own. Sure, but I would not be able to eat such small portions forever, and I would gain it back. I am glad I made this choice.

Well Friday is the big day. I am insanely nervous. I am confident that everything will go well. I just wonder what in the world am I getting myself into? I know it is something that needs to be done for my health, but I am scared I will never be able to enjoy food again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
