Hi, I just learned about this site from a friend at work. I am planning on having lapband surgery in the beginning of February. I am very excited. I just started my 5th month of preband dietitian appointments and will meet with my surgeon on Jan 5. I hope to meet many new people with similar interests on this site.

Hi Kathi. Welcome and congratulations on making the decision, and working towards getting banded. You will love this site!! There are so many nice people here who will help you with questions, concerns, and support. I have made some very good friends here. It is so nice to "talk" with people who know where you've been, where you are at, and where you are going... people who really can say "I know how you feel". Good luck to you. You will have your band before you know it. If I can do anything for you, please let me know. Happy Holidays!!! Becky

Hi

My name is Junior and I am 35 years old married with 3 kids (8 yoa, 3 yoa, and 2 yoa). I am 6'4 and weighed 460 lbs at my highest. I was originally schelduled for the gastric bypass but my wife and I were really concerened and decided to try the lap band. I hap the Realize band on DEC 2 and my weight prior to surgery was 395 lbs. I lost the 65 lbs on the Atkins diet prior to surgery. :thumbup:I have a broken hip and need a hip replacment therefore i need to get under 280 :thumbup:lbs to get approved. I just enter the pureed food stage and am looking for meal ideas for this stage. please any ideas will be really apprieicated and would like to talk to others out there with the same surgery and learn from them especially about the realize website we are having some issues with it.

Thank you

Junior :tt1:

Junior, I bought a book called "Eating well after weight loss surgery" that has recipies that can be adapted for all stages of weight loss or just to feed your family. This way you don't have to prepare special meals for you. It has quite a few recipies that I will be willing to try as well as tips on cooking and pantry stocking.

Hello Kathi,

Welcome to the Board...

I am also planning to take this surgery. A primary part of the pre-op diet is a Protein supplement. Foods that will need to be avoid in your diet include high-sugar foods, fatty meats, high fried foods, carbohydrate foods, fats, whole milk products, and alcohol. If you need more information on Lap band surgery diet, finance and cost as well, please go through my signature link. It'll help you a lot.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
