HI!! I am getting banded on Dec 12 too!!! (Dr. Feiz- Encino, CA.) I am really nervous, but I wouldn't change my decision for the world. I am ready!!

My pre-op diet is going poorly. I started today with the plan they gave me. You would think knowing that I am having surgery I would try harder. What can I say....If I had any willpower I wouldn't be overweight.

I am anxious for all of us to come back to this site so we can share experiences. I'll be looking for you:)

Good Luck to all!!! Take Care! TGIF!!!!

Okay, ready or not here I come. Getting banded in Va. on the 12th. Pre-op diet is great during the day, tougher at night. It has been wonderful reading about everyone who was banded last week. Thanks for posting. I have been lurking for a while and have decided there is one big difference between those who succeed with the band and those that struggle. EXERCISE. I don't think I can rely on the band alone for weight loss. I have to exercise and use the band to learn how to eat like a normal person again. So nothing like getting banded in the dark of winter to test your dedication to working out. Here's to the second wave going forth!

Preop Diet is going well. Soups are good. Nurse ar sugeon's office told me today that I can have smoothies...that was exciting to hear. It's really not bad though. I feel full, but then again I'm super nervous for Friday.

Good Luck to everyone on Friday.

I'm getting pretty excited. The 12th is just around the corner. I need to start a journal and create my mini-goals, the first being my current jeans fitting comfortably. Boy, will that be nice.

Hello! Where at in Virginia?

I'm in Richmond, so it's St. Mary's for me. How can they just eliminate the program like that? Why didn't they just say no more patients as of a particular date? That doesn't make sense to me. Good luck to you!!

My co-workers have begun to notice I'm losing weight on this pre-op diet. Part of me wants to believe I could keep this up on my own and lose the weight. Thats the delusional part of me. The sane part knows that it wouldn't work long term.

I also agree that the liquid diet is harder at night. It's so much easier when I'm at work and keeping busy. But overall the diet is going well! can't wait for the 12th to come.

Belive me, I wasn't happy about it. I was the cut off. They did the patient scheduled just prior to mine, but didn't know if they were going to do mine or not. I was on the liquid diet for 6 days not knowing what was going to happen. Fortunately, Dr. Halmi's office took on Mary Washington's patients, scheduled extra operating room time, etc. to make it happen for all of us who were already scheduled. I'm so thankful. Instead of my original date of the 11th, I'm having the surgery on the 12th. My tests would have expired on the 19th. Whew. I was close to panic.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
