LOL Yes Michelle, my home is fine. In fact with all my spare time, I wrote a letter to the home owner's association about the few incidents we've been having and how disappointed I am blah blah..they said they have cops patrol the area and will have them increase it, a cop lives in the neighborhood, blah blah.. I honestly wonder if the flag being broken off our mailbox was the angry crazy lady from Craigslist with the coffee tables (I told ya'll about). Our flag is the only one broken off, and she's the only person I've pissed off (we're pretty reclusive).

Watching tornadoes again today, it's been like this for days, the sirens are going off all the time so it's hard to tell when to be concerned. Luckily, nothing has come this way except bad storms...a river has formed behind our back fence between our fence and the crop field back there.

Fed and changed Carson at 7 and he has been awake and looking around (happily) since (it's almost 9 now). Housecleaning company is coming by at 10:30 to give us a quote..

Hope ya'll have a good day, I'm down to 252lb.. 40lb to go to get back to pre-preg weight!!

CAN I COMPLAIN???

There is a student in my online class that is buggin' the beejeebers out of me! Calss started MONDAY and I've had 3 phone conversations with her, as well as 10,000 emails (not really but you get it). I AM TRYING TO BE SUPPORTIVE BUT REALLY...SHE IS A FREAKIN' IDIOT! Last night, as American Idol is starting, she calls me and I have to go through the process of setting up folders on her desk top to house and organize the information for her. She whines and complains...then cuts me off. Then she asked about a rubric and I explained WHERE IT IS, and that she needs two citations/references minimum for an A on her discussion post. Then I get an email now that says, "it says students MAY use citations" she continues, "I don't want to be picky but..." AAAAAAHHHHHH ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??? I can not explain my blood pressure on this one. I wrote back, "just do what I instructed you to do last night!" I CAN NOT SPEAK. I had a 30 min convo w/ her on sat to help her NAVIGATE through the classroom. Mind you, class started Monday!!! Her name is MB...but right now MF is more like it!

sorry for the rant...i am smokin' pisssssed now!

mother clucker, i'd be pissed too pamela!

Judy - i'm glad you feel better...no cases of the flu up by you?

Is anyone even worried about this?? I see the news going crazy about this but in everyday life I see no one is concerned. We just go about our business as usual. We are being more careful about hand washing but that's about it...

I finally drank coffee yesterday to get my fish unstuck. But the rest of the day I still felt sore so I couldn't eat anything. I was on the phone with one of juan's aunts and told her about it and she told me she would make me some hot Soup to make me feel better. Well she literally made it HOT. Like super duper spicy hot. I took one sip and my nose just started burning, I started crying and choking at the same time. She added one serrano pepper to the soup to give it flavor and didn't think it would make that spicy but wholy moley. So I spooned some sour cream in my mouth to make it stop hurting and that helped alot. So again, I didn't eat. I went home and started picking up because my cleaning people come today and finally decided to have a bowl of Cereal. Surprisingly that went down just fine. I thought I was gonna struggle with my cherrios but luckily I didn't. So today I'm starving!

I'm so ready for the weekend. Saturday I don't have anything scheduled but Sunday will be busy busy busy.

I'm gonna go get some coffee...

I can't help but laugh (although that doesn't mean I don't feel your pain) . . . some people don't have a clue and there are definitely those who should never consider an online class. Really, when it comes down to it, you don't HAVE to do anything in a class, you just fail instead, lol.

I guess the worst part is that students that are arguing rubrics and contacting you constantly at the beginning are likely to be a pain later and will probably argue grades all along the way.

It sounds like she is well on her way to an A :cool2:

HAHA Heather! You kinda read my mind. But I am going to make her earn her A, just like I do everyone else. Usually, in the beginning, I have to issue B's and C's, with tons of feedback. I usually find that by the 3rd or 4th week, they get their s&^t together and earn their A's. I am fair...but I am not holding her hand anymore.

Thank goodness I am only teaching these 8 weeks, then taking time off during the summer. Normally I teach the 16 weeks, but in 9 weeks she becomes someone else's problem.

Is that an online class Pam?

Haydee, about the flu.. the media is really hyping it, if you look at statistics, millions die every year from the 'normal' flu, and we are NO WHERE NEAR those numbers with this flu. It's not any worse. I think the media just found a way to get attention off the economy.

That being said, if you're elderly, baby, or have immune deficiency problems (sickly in general) you have reason to worry-you have reason to worry with ANY flu.

I am scared because it's here in our town; I got the flu shot to protect me & Carson, but it does not protect against this flu, which is why I worry. If I didn't have Carson, I wouldn't even be thinking about the flu.. and none of you guys should either, IF you get it-- you'll be fine, you'll just have the flu for a few days.

Well today is over and I didn't take my camera, the battery was dead. Some other people had cameras, so I will try to get one and then try to get it posted here.

I am so tired right now. I don't want to go to work. I for some reason couldn't sleep last night. Then I got up early this am. I shouldn't complain because it has been so slow up til now.

So off to work I go.............

Whew!

Career Day was fun, but long! You'd think I'd LIKE talking about myself for 2 hours... but the same thing 4 times got to be a bit much! It went well, I had fun with it, applied it to what they use in class, yadda yadda... dd said that when they all got back to their regular class they discussed the presentations and all the kids said that I was funny, and then she asked, "Did you MEAN to be funny?" Uh, Yes! But supposedly I wasn't the favorite, who was the mom who played popular dance music to "get their energy flowing"... I'm not sure what her job is -- I thought she worked for the library!! LOL!!

The sun actually shone here for a few hours today... but it is now raining again... it's been a whole week of rain already!... Now it's starting to flood... bleh.

Time for soccer practice (I keep hoping the phone will ring & they'll cancel it as it's raining, yeah, right...)... then cleaning & baking!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
