Stopping in to check to see if there was any news from Kat.

Went to the CPR class this morning and they had all kinds of donuts and Bagels. I had 1/2 of a bagel. The bottom part. I wanted the top with all the good stuff on it but resisted.

Came home and fixed a salad and than went out and back with the kitties. We walked around the pool a couple of times and than sat in the sun. It is so beautiful out today.

Hubby even took the Harley out for a little ride.

We have a birthday party to go to tonight for our Uncle. He is turning 80. I'm realy going to have to watch myself aith all the food.< /span>

Have a great day and make good choices.

Hey V's~

I was up at 6 and at the gym at 6:30. Worked for an hour...then home to shower and get ready. MIL came a couple hours later. She brought her dear friends and we went to eat, now home to relax. It is raining on and off today...really cool because it is 60 degrees and a nice day!

I just got off the phone w/ my diss chair and got the best news. I won't bore you w/ the details...you all have been great...but lets just say, my life just got a lot easier!!! I got news last week that threw me for a loop and I called a statistician to help. Well, he ran some tests and ended up calling her and got me out of a world of shit! HAHA...I am so happy. I have a ton of work to do...but at least I GET THIS WORK, where as before, I thought she was speaking another language. YEAH!

Kat...how are things on the homefront today! I thought about you this morning and sent you much love, peace and strength to get through this all.

Good evening...

Am sitting in the family room on my laptop in the dark watching "Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix"... I'm a HP fanatic and have never seen it! I kind of lost interest in the movies... they're simply taking too long to get them out to us! We've had this one on dvd for AGES but have never watched it... it's good so far!

Anyone who is interested in following my dh's exploits in Mexico can follow this link... A Blog from Pixels on the Wall

I've had a string of good days of eating & exercising... I'm hoping I'm heading to "the groove" to hang out there w/Judy!

Enjoy your evenings!

Hey girls, I wish I had news to share, but the news is that there is no news. No change. They have now tried 4 antibiotics, and there is no response to any of them. Rather than change types again, they are increasing the potency of the vancamyicin. They got the PIC line in, and will be increasing the strength....IF her Dr. EVER shows up!

She is being seen by a CDC specialist, and she and I had words! She is supposed to be this specialist for communicable diseases. We can barely understand her and have to ask many times for her to repeat things. She is from India. I would say Indian....but around here that is not right.....

So anyway she is there she is going on about no change etc., and she is messing with Manda's ear, without gloves.....and tells us she is going to go see if the contrast CT scans are on the computer yet. And walks out------------without washing her hands! She touched the doorknob. The very doorknob WE touch, after we wash our hands every time we go in and out.

There are signs everywhere WASH IN/WASH OUT. I follow her down the hall asking her about it, she sits down at the computer and begins typing WHILE I am asking her about it. So now all of us who touch the door, and all those who touch the computer might as well have been handling the ear itself.

Well now she hasn't been back, and the ENT who admitted Manda has NEVER been in to see her......

It does not look better, it does not feel better.....her blood count remains in the same range.

She is getting irritable with me....because I want something done! So I am home, letting her deal with it for now. I am upset and frustrated with the hospital, which is not unusualy, but getting that way with her as well, for being so complacent about it. With her being an adult, they do not listen much to me! Oh well......we are going back over shortly, Rick wants to go see her. I thought about Kinsey and I staying home, but she wants to go of course!

She, Kinsey is doing good. Very little oozing....if any this afternoon, I have not checked. She of course prefers me not to!!

Her color looks better, she isn't as pale. We have really pushed liquids, and good food on her...as directed by the pediatrician.

Jane, thank you so much for calling! It was good to talk to you! You are such a sweetheart!

My Dad has the stomach bug going around. He is losing things at both ends, and running a fever. So there went any back up with Kinsey!

Becky is usually right there, but they are all in Albq. have been for a few days, Gary's Mom and Sister and the families are all there as well, so they are having a mini reunion.

I thought perhaps my MIL would offer to let her hang out and play with Connor and my sons DD from his first marriage, but she has not offered. So Kinsey is just doing the best she can. It is hard to be 4 and not touch things in the hospital, and ride back and forth all the time.....not to mention dealing with a seriously grouchy Granny!!!

I am just so incredibly thankful that Kinsey was not hurt worse. The amount of blood was UNREAL!

Well ladies, I am going to go have a "discussion" if you will, with my DH. He is taking wood out to the shop, like he plans to build a fire. If he is, I am outta here, I am not waiting while he plays motorcycle with the guy across the street, I want to come home at a decent time tonight!!!

Will check in soon. Pam LOVED hearing good news about the diss, not so much about the problem student!!!

Good evening, Violets..

Just back from Applebees. Usually the Bobster and I share a fajita meal, but this time I just had the french onion Soup and he brought half his meal home.

Piehole report:

Breakfast..tuna with soy nuts 1 slice cheese

Lunch...tuna with soy nuts and romaine lettuce and 1/2 yellow pepper

black cherry/cream/splenda smoothie

Snack...few cashews

Supper...1 cup french onion soup

2 liters water

Done eating for the day and I'm jumping into the hot tub and do my exercises in there. First time I've been in the hot tub in months. It's 40 out right now so it will be comfortable going outside in my suit and robe.

Kat.. glad Kinsey is doing better, but wish Manda was too. I sure hope they can get things under control. MRSA is really tough to treat. I can't believe a specialist in CD's would be so careless!!!!

Everyone have a good evening. I'm going to go check out Michelle's DH's blog then jump in the hot tub. sleep well.

Kat, Manda is in my prayers... I have been reading what you said about Kinsey, I am confused.. what is oozing? Did she cut her hooha? How did she cut so bad just from falling on the tub? Maybe I missed a part of this, but I thought I read it from the beginning! And you're not a bad g'ma, kids are accident prone after all..and very resiliant!

Just got back from grocery shopping, forgot how expensive Atkins is.. we spent more than we've ever spent before.. the cashier even made comments, which irks me. He asked if we had kids and we said not yet and he's just like wow.. what cows these people must be.

Unpacking groceries I see what happened, Russ bought a billion cheese snacks.. seriously, took up 2 drawers in the fridge!!!

I am making duck tonight. I also bought quail--I love duck, never had quail, but thought I might like it, so I'm going to try it one day.

I did good and got my 100 calorie packs and veggies, fruits, etc.. and I didn't realize how good for you Cream of Wheat was. I haven't made it in years, I like it, just don't think about it.. after seeing how packed with Iron & Calcium it is, I bought some and that's going to be my b'fast. Also bought some SmartOnes and Lean Cuisine lunches to take to work.

Then I bought a small size (I tried to do as good as I can while being bad) rainbow sherbet, and some doves chocolates. :/

Off to make some duck breast & brussell sprouts. Yum!

Lol, no janie, he's a professional computer geek... photography is his hobby... altho he has exhibited his work in several shows here in our area and sells it as well at a shop at the beach & privately... he frets that if he made photography his profession, then it'd become too much like "work"! & he's probably right. He enjoys it & has an interesting "eye"... my favs are the "everyday" objects/architecture that one overlooks & how he can zoom in on it & make it interesting/compelling. He also like faces... old, young, the craggier the better. He'll probably post every day while in Mexico... so keep tuned!

Yes, Laura, I believe that's what happened, she tried to get out of the tub herself & it sounds like a tub w/sliding doors & she slipped & came down on the track &, well, cut the inside of her hoo ha. Poor baby. Poor grandma!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
