Shrinkin' Violets Part 3 Read HERE!

Hi girls~

I'm home, Manda is home, and she is doing pretty good, she is still swollen, and her ear is one giant gooey sore.....but she is ok.

I have a meeting tonight, so need to get things done for dinner, but I am sooooo lazy, it is pathetic!

Had to reschedule my blood donation because it collided with Manda getting out of the hospital. They want me to go to the office and discuss plasma donation with them, since I am such a long term donor. I hear about the sell your plasma stuff on the radio all the time, but had never been talked to, and I don't think they "buy" it, they just take it!!! I dunno, I think if I am being poked that often, I would go for the compensation!!! Cheapskate that I am!

Got the last bit of stuff in for our taxes today, so guess Monday we will get them done. I would use the online thing, but we have to have last years redone....over the child care credit thing, so prefer to have someone with more tax knowledge than me do it....of course that qualifies the neighbors dog!

I am off to get wood brought in, and things done so I can get out of here on time tonight. I hate night time meetings, I never see my husband with them. How do people work those opposing schedules? I am complaining about 1 night!

How is this for fair.....last week remember they laid off the first round of people. Starting Monday, they are bringing a crew in from out of town....because they picked up the Conoco Phillips work, and are short handed. Our local plant has not slowed down, but nationally it has, so ALL camps had to cut a certain percentage of their help. So they laid off the locals, so they could pay to bring in an outside crew and pay them wages, plus per diem, plus put them up in a nice motel.

Idiots, absolute, total morons!

Enough Rant.....see ya later!!

Terry -- Great idea!! I like the way you think!

Kat -- That certainly IS idiotic! Ugh!

Am having king crab stuffed salmon "pinwheels" for dinner tonight! Now, if I can just keep away from the brownies that I'm also baking as a treat for dh (it's his last dinner here 'til the 16th...)... I did good & didn't even lick a finger when I made them... I put them in a small square pan, in the hopes that they'll get eaten quicker that way! lol!!

Enjoy the eve, girls...

Heather, where in the country do you live? What are you studying for? Violets want to know!

Laura, where the hell are you?

I'm in Ohio which is rather cold and unpleasant this time of year . . . but our summers are mild and perfect.

I am finishing up the last three classes for my MBA as well, I should be done this Summer. I am only taking one class at a time with my schedule and pregnancy.

Hi everyone...haven't done personals in a while so here goes....

Michelle-I agree with the others, a to do list for your dh is definitely in order! lol Will really serve him right!

Judy-I am a silly one at times. I read when you post about the wii fit and I want one even more. hmmm, maybe one with the income tax refund? Doubt it, I need to stick it in our savings. *sigh*

Jennifer-watch out, that 5 pounds can turn to 15 like THAT (could you hear the snap?) lol Glad you are happy though, that is very important!

Haydee-hope things are better with Juan. What were you doing eating oatmeal in Houston traffic for?

Terry-how is the beading business going? You do not really talk about it too much anymore.

Jane-so how was the customer that drives you nuts? Did she? Are you OK? lol

TracyinKS-hows your butt? lol (sorry, had to do that) You know we care about your ass! lmao! I am on a roll....but really, I hope you are OK!

Suzie-how was your superbowl fish fry?

Kat-I love that you are on facebook! I really enjoyed seeing the photos.

Laura-coming hme with what you went with moneywise is excellent! We are going to a casino in LA weekend after next. It has been so long, I can not wait!! How did your dad do in the tournament?

Pamela-I am so ready for big brother I can't see straight. I get so attached to those folks. Am I abnormal? lol They become like my 2nd family. lol

OK everyone, have a great night. :)

Good evening, Violets.

Choir is done and I'm whipped. Just finished supper. I had a couple bites of pot roast and just wasn't that into it. Bob is having the potatoes and carrots and gravy. I'll make a strawberry and cream concoction in a little bit and call it a day. All I've had today is tuna and soy nuts.. Breakfast and lunch and just a few almonds around 4:00. Just don't seem to be hungry.

I'll watch some tv tonight and head to bed early and hope I can get some sleep. Ethan comes at 8 again tomorrow for the day.

Laura... great pics of Carson. I remember Kris's pictures.. the baby looked like melting candle wax.. lol 2 and a half more weeks and I'll know if it's Madison or Grady.

She's finally cut back to working 2 days a week. She's on her feet all day and I'm glad she's going to start taking it easy.

Kat... so glad Manda is home and feeling better.

We need to call our CPA tomorrow and make an appointment to get our taxes done. With all of Bob's jobs and our portfolio and special things having to do with clergy, it's way easier, though much more costly, for us to have them done instead of doing them ourselves.

Michelle...enjoy your quiet time with DH away. Sometimes I appreciate having a little time to myself.

Just got off the phone with DD Kris. She is an LPN and has been working 4 days a week on her feet all day. She asked for Wednesdays off and was granted that, but then asked for Mondays off too because it's their busiest day. They told her yes yesterday, today they told her no so she said tomorrow is her last day. She was crying and thought she was going to go into labor. She wants to come back to the job after 12 weeks, but isn't sure they will have her back now and that frustrates her. Her DH Nathan is going to call tomorrow and tell them how upset he is with them. For gosh sakes, she's 9 months pregnant, due to deliver in 2 and a half weeks and standing on her feet all day!! They are making unreasonable demands. I worked up until delivery, but I was able to teach from a chair and was still exhausted by the end of the day. I don't know how she's worked this long. Will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

Going to watch some tv and head to bed early. Hope every has a good night. sleep well.

Hey Girls,

Field trip was good. It was a jazz story telling show. The kids were great. I wish I could fund a field trip to LA's Museum of Tolerance. I want to take them so bad...but it is expensive. OH well.

Laura, welcome back. I have to go back and look at Carson's pix.

Michelle, enjoy your special time.

Judy, you rock! Are you ready for summer?

Kat, how are the hives? I hope things settle a bit now that Manda is on the mend.

TracyK, I too can't wait for BB. Glad you are getting all settled in the new place.

TracyKS, how is Robbie doing? How are things w/ you sista? Mom ok?

Jennifer, I am glad you are feeling happy these days. Enjoy it!

Terry, can't wait to sit and bullshit w/ you. Someone asked about the jewlery? You still getting time to make it?

Susie, where have you been? Did I miss a post or two...you seem quiet lately!

Janie, got any cool plays on the horizon? I love plays...wish we had some around here.

Heather, thanks for the post w/ info. My g-pa is from Denison Ohio...always meet cool people from Ohio!

OK ladies...I know I am on the wrong thread..but I am jazzed about the trip!

Hello, It's me Suzanne.

We just got home from our shift at the hospital. We were super duper busy. A lot of Flu and nazaly stuff going around here.

On top of that, there is just a lot of crap going on in the family. I guess I shouldn't say crap. Just a lot of stuff going on. Having problems with older sis and her kids. Younger sis is sick. A neice in the hospital, Hubby having his 6 month blood work up done. And than I have to go to the Shrink tomorrow and tell him about my life and wonder why I find it so hard to lose weight. It's just all the little stuff that makes things a little harder to keep my life on track. I'll figure out the road I need to be on and make it as smoothly as I can.

Over the weekend I had the worst bathroom problems again. I'm thinking that maybe I better go see the Doc and see if something else is going on.

I have my next fill in two weeks and am so looking forward to it. I need one this time. The last two times I didn't get one.

I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. I'll let you know what the Shrink had to say when I get a chance.

Thinking of all of you.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
