Hi I need some advice

Recommended Posts

Ok, For a while now, well let me start out saying I was banded June 9th Since then I've lost a pretty decent amount, now averaging about 7lbs a month. Anyway, I had only 2 fills. But, here lately, everything I eat Im throwing up. And there is this slime, that is so thick I never seen anything like it. I tell everyone I have medically induced blemia or however you spell it. Its not a funny matter, and in fact Im going a lot of days without eating. Not by choice of course. I dont want to get an unfill, however, my husband wants me to cause he cant stand to see me like this. My biggest problem is Im not exercising as much as I should be so this is really working for me. I dont want to kill what Im already accomplishing, but at the same time, I know I need to eat. Even if it is the right amount. I cant even do that. Everything now, I throw back up. Should I go for a few days liquids only, or should I tell my doctor, and actually get a cc taken out? This is very difficult for me to come on here and ask for help. I havent even been on here because Im so ashamed that for the past 2 months, this has been going on. And I havent told my doctor anything. Im losing hair, when I wash it, so much comes out, I feel in certain spots its growing back. But, this stuff is horrible, I can burp most of the time, and throw up. And as I said before, all the slime. This stuff is thick and horrible. I dont understand it. I need advice on what to do. I know I didnt hurt myself. Or caused strain of some sort. I look forward to hearing from all you. Thanks for listening.

I know that you want to lose weight, but remember that the band is suppose to help you by losing weight the correct way. Not by not being able to eat. You need to see your doctor right away. You probably do need some fill out. This does not mean you will stop losing weight. What is happening to you is what everyone refers to as pbing. It is not healthy for you or your band. This can cause you to lose your band, ecspecially if it is as bad as you say. You cannot keep these things from your doctor. You need to tell him everything so you are able to use the band the way it is intended. You are not using it properly right now. Ask yourself, if I lose my weight this way, will I be able to live this way forever to maintain my new weight. I'm sure the answer is going to be "NO". So use the band properly and I will guarentee that you will be excited at how great it works and how great it feels. Please don't let another day go by without seeing your doctor. I admire you for having the guts to be honest and trusting us at this site to help support you. Good Luck and keep me informed at what the doctor says, I will be thinking of you.

I too have been going through a similar thing but have no Hair loss. The hair loss is a sign that you are not getting enough Protein and that is not good. I would consider getting just half a cc taken out. Then you should still have a lot of restriction but not so bad that you cannot eat. I think that once we get to tight the stomach gets inflamed and irritated and the throwing up only continues this. You can try just Soups for a while and see if it gets better. If not you really need less restriction. You may lose slower but you shouls still lose and try to start walking or riding your bike and then you might be able to keep losing at the same pace. I know it is easier said than done but exercise is good for us all anyway!

Leslie,

I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. It DEFINITELY sounds like you are too tight. I went through your problem for a month, existing on liquids only for the most part and miserable as can be. I started getting reflux, woke up one night with the throw up in my mouth from some juice I'd drank an hour before bed, and got scared straight. I called my doc and got an unfill of .3 ccs and that made ALL of the difference in the world. I am restricted very nicely now, and am able to eat again, although not very much.

My husband was scared to death for me, as yours is for you. Imagine if your band slips from being too tight. You'd be kicking yourself for not going to your doc. That is a real possibility, so treat yourself RIGHT and go get a bit taken out. It may not take much and you'll be on your knees thanking God that you can actually can eat.

As a previous poster said, the band helps us lose by restricting our portions... it should NOT be making us unable to eat anything.

After my slight unfill, I've lost more weight, even though I am eating more now. My body had gone into starvation mode.

I agree....too tight. Good restriction is supposed to allow you to eat most foods, but to become sated with a small amount, and to not be hungry again for up to 5-6 hours. You are NOT supposed to slime all the time. Exercising won't make the slime go away. Please call your doc tomorrow; this site is riddled with people who didn't want to get an unfill and end up with erosion or worse. Take care of yourself.

I want to say thank you to all of you for being the voice of reason! I am going to have some fill taken out today. I have been suffering with being too tight for too long because I was finally losing again but my friend who also has the band was just diagnosed with an ulceration on the outside if her stomach from her band being too tight. She says it feels like fire all of the time and that sounds even more miserable! I will just have to step up my exercise! Thanks again for helping me use my brain!

I see my doc on the 8th. Meanwhile I have to have liquids. The reason being, I didnt develop this problem to where I was vomiting everything up until I was sick about a month ago. I mean before then yes I would slime and vomit some things. But, for the past month its been everyday, and everything. Believe it or not today, I had bbq, which went down fine, no slime, hurt a little, but it was ok, I would say it was about 3 ozs of bbq, not much. Im trying really hard to get things to do right, but when I see my doc I will get an unfill. Thanks everyone for all the advice. Sometimes I feel like Im the only one going through this. And for a while, I thought that this was what is supposed to happen with the band, but I know that throwing up, well, thats not part of the plan. Its horrible.

Also the biggest thing that is happening to me here lately, is I have indigestion. Almost every night. Maybe its from all the vomiting, and my body going into starvation mode. I dont know but my doc will know everything. I dont want anything to happen to my band. Thanks guys.,

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
