See another doctor,

Look into everything. I have the lap band , my friend the gastric by pass, both of us are happy with our decision. She has lost more weight then I have ,but I will lose the rest of the weight. Don't give up !:)

:confused:I researched and decided the band was for me b/c it was the less intrusive. I thought my doc was pushing the gbypass b/c that was his expertise. Well 27 months later I have not lost weight with the band.:) He told me today that the 10cc VG band was defective and he no longer uses them. :whatchutalkingaboutSo, I am back to square one and this time I choose a revision to remove the band and do gastric bp.

I went to a seminar given by the doctor my primary care doctor recommended. I did not like him or his team and found someone on my own. I found this psychologist and nutritionist more interested in selling their post surgical services than in helping me prior to surgery.Having said that, what I did not like was that I wanted and expected to speak with the doctor to have US determine what surgery was best for ME. The doctor stated that if you were over 50, he only performed LapBand.

There is no right or wrong weight loss surgery - period. When I had my appointment to see the surgeon I ultimately used, I went over my medical history which includes colon cancer with him. I made sure given my situtation I did what was best for me. Each of us need to do that and for some of us it may be gastric bypass.

That's strange that he'd say you shouldn't have Lapband if you have GERD. I had severe heartburn before the band (basically no over-the-counter stuff worked and I couldn't afford scrips because I'm a self-pay). For the first 9 months I had ZERO heartburn at all. ZERO. I'm now a year out and really, I get heartburn at the strangest times (not related necessarily to food, time of day, or stress level...I can't figure it out) - but it is still a really rare and MUCH tamer experience than it ever was before. I used to have it on a daily basis before the band and if I had to pick, I'd say that now I get it maybe about once every other week and it doesn't feel the same as it did before (not as painful or as prolonged). Talk to some other surgeons about this before making your decision.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
