May 2008 Slow Losers

Recommended Posts

Welcome Melissa.

1st...congrats on the 38 lbs lost! Look at it like this...it is 38 LOST, not gained! Awesome.23_32_7.gif

2nd...I haven't done the Weight Watchers thing but I have read on some older threads that others are doing the Weight Watchers. Some are doing Adkins....

I am trying to eat healthier. I would lose more if I would excersize on a regular basis. It just depends on the person and their preferences. I knew I would have to work the band, just not this hard. Good luck Melissa and keep us posted.7_5_138.gif

I have never done weight watchers either, but I think a lot of people here have. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I have done South Beach in the past and I would love to do it again now if I could get more motivated to.

I think it depends on how much you have to lose to begin with - if it is more than 150 pounds, it comes off faster at the beginning. I also think it depends on how close you are to the sweet spot and how close you follow the rules. It has taken me a long time, but, I do think that I am getter better at this. I am getting another fill in a little less than 2 weeks and I think this will be it. I am focusing much more now on eating Protein first, then veggies and fruit and if there is room - carbs. It also took me a LONG time to get used to what a real serving is for me. I was still eating way too much- a cup is not much, but it is usually enough if I can stick to it.

I also joined Weight Watchers at work and think that the accountability of weekly weigh ins helps me. Too bad I can't tell my group about the band- I don't think they would understand.

I am seriously thinking that I have weight loss resistance. This doesn't change the fact that I need to continue to make good food choices and exercise. I have been closely monitoring what I eat and vigorously exercising for 1 hour six times per week. The scale is not budging.

I looked online at "metabolic syndrome" and I feel that I have all of the characteristics.

The next time that I go to the doctor I will ask for a hormone panel blood test. Hormones have a great deal to do with how little or much, how fast or slow that you lose weight.

I will continue to do what I am doing, but now I am seriously thinking that my hormones are out of whack (cortisol, insulin, progesterone, estrogen, etc.....)

I'll let you know how I make out. At the very least I will have peace of mind knowing that I am not CRAZY!!!!!

I have lost a total 44 pounds since my surgery on 5/19. My doctor didn't make me do the 2 weeks pre-op diet..

I'm just getting frustrated because I've been fluctuating at 42-46 pound mark for the past 2 months! I take karate and go at least 3x/week - it's a very rigorous workout and I sweat ALOT. I'm eating anywhere from 1350-1750 calories a day.

How many calories are you guys taking in on a daily basis?

I have a great appreciate for slow losers!!! I was banded on May 9th and have only lost 35 pounds to date. At first I was really bombed out about it but I am just reaching a good poing of restriction. Soooo, hopefully things will start moving on a little faster now.

Barbie: Keep plugging along!! You will get past this and start to see loss. I am concentrating on Protein, Fiber and only natural carbs....trying to eliminate "white" carbs altogether. It's not easy!!!!!

All the BEST to you!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
