I don't know if anyone has started this, but I thought it would be nice to have our own space. I get really discouraged reading about how some are losing really fast in the other thread and I thought it would be nice to start our own thread. I am losing slow, but I am still very happy to just be losing.

I'll join you! I was banded 5/22/08 and since day of surgery have only lost 13 lbs:sad: It is my fault though. I have gotten myself back on track this week, I am logging EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth. I needed a reality check and got it on Monday at the doctors office and with the nutritionist. I was low BMI to start with and have gone from 31.5 to 29.5 which officially makes me only overweight now, not obese:smile:. I've been exercising religiously with weights and cardio and have really tones also, but I don't think that shows up on the scale. I had a giant pity party for myself Monday, boo-hooing at "failure" but I am back at it now! I'd love to find a regular group on here to relate to and check in with. Seeing the doctor every 8 weeks is too long to be on my own!

We were banded the same day! I haven't been exercising much. I really need to start back. I slacked off when the weather got cold. I was walking outside, but I can't now. I need to start hitting the treadmill again.

I'll join ya sweetie...I had surgery may 8th and I've only lost 31 lbs. I have pcos and insulin resistance so I'm having a heck of a hard time losing my weight. I weighd 259 lbs when I started my journey and now I'm down to 225 lbs...I want to get to ONEderland so bad it's not even funny..I'm tired of seeing this huge stomach.

I have insulin resistance too. It makes it very hard. I weight 254 on the day of surgery and I am 5'7. I want to get to ONEderland too!! Hopefully in a few months.

Hey guys, can I join the slow weight loss bandwagon? I was banded on May 20th and I have lost 30 pounds only to gain back 9 these last two months. I am due for my fifth fill next Monday and I am very embarrassed to go and talk to my doctor. I feel like a failure with this band, however, I am not giving up. I do not have complete restriction yet but this next fill may bring me closer. I have 55cc already in a 9cc band so I am almost there! The only problem I am having is that I can still eat anything. I have been walking for exercise and the pounds still are not coming off. I am patience and I know that when I start losing it will be a wonderful feeling. I take my hats off the those of you who have lost a lot of weight so far. I hope to join you soon.

Wow, lots of us slow May losers have PCOS and/or insulin resistance. I have both also. I went off metformin cold turkey the day of surgery after being on it for 7 years. I wonder if that is impacting me? I have religously counted calories and journaled this week and I am down 3.5 lbs. Let's encourage each other. We're half-way to our 1 yr mark, we still have time to be "successful"- whatever that may be in each of our own cases!

I was banded May 13. I am also a slow loser. I have lost 39 lbs. I keep gaining and loosing the same 3 lbs over the last 3 weeks. I just want to hit the 40lb mark. I had a fill Monday and think I am at my sweet spot. I have lost the 3lbs, now hopefully by Sunday I will be at the 40 lb. mark. I know a lot has to do with my excersise regement. I do it in spurts. I am not consistant. I have to learn to be a regular excersiser machine!Well good luck everyone. We will get there!

I have never been officially diagnosed with PCOS, but I highly suspect that I have it. I have all of the symptoms except for the facial hair. I do have think hair everywhere else though. Is there a test they do to diagnose it or do they just go on symptoms?

I guess you could say I am a slow loser, but my doctor thinks I am doing GREAT!! :smile2:

And any loss is better than what I would be losing without the band!

My doctor says I am doing great too, in fact, we all are doing great! It just seems like on the other thread for the May bandsters, some of them have lost 2 or 3 times as much as me. I got discouraged reading there, so I thought it would be nice to have our own thread.

Yeah I know what you mean, it's hard NOT to compare your own progress with others... Especially when you see others who have been banded on the same day and have lose 80 pounds?!?! How is that possible? :thumbup:

My metabolism is really slow, has always been. I knew I would be a "slow" loser...and I am happy with it. Even now with being really tight and only eating seriously maybe 500 (if that) calories a day...I am not losing as much as you would think. :smile2: Everybody (literally) is different.

Yea, I don't understand how some have lost 80 pounds either. I asked the nurse and she said that the more you have to lose, the faster it comes off. My BMI was 41 when I started, so I expected to lose a little slow. I don't eat much either. I don't count calories, but I can't even eat a cup at a time, so I know I'm not getting that many calories in a day. I also didn't have to do a preop diet, so I didn't lose any before surgery like some others did.

Thanks for this thread Carrie_C. I was feeling like a failure lately myself. Since October I have been losing/gaining 5lbs. I've been having a tough time eating because of vomiting, then I eat bad food. I also have not been exercising so I know that my slow weight loss was slowed due to my own actions. it is nice to get support by seeing other peoples obstacle & not feel so alone.

I am a slow loser too. My surgery date was May 20. At my highest I weighted 257. Date of surgery, 245, and now 222. Total 35

I TRY not to be concerned: I hope that being a slow loser may save money on plastic surgery. Maybe most of my skin will adjust to loosing slower. --at least that is what I tell myself.

I loose in spurts. I will stay at the same weight or fluctuate 2 or 3 pound. Then I wake up one morning and I have lost 5. My mother is the same way on Weight Watchers. We lose about every 3 to 4 weeks

Nevertheless, I feel better. Moreover, some weight is better than none.

This last fill made me really tight. Don’t eat much now.

I do the same thing, one week I will lose nothing and the next I will lose 3 or 4 pounds. It seems like I don't lose anything the week of my period and the week after.
