May 2008 Slow Losers

I don't know if anyone has started this, but I thought it would be nice to have our own space. I get really discouraged reading about how some are losing really fast in the other thread and I thought it would be nice to start our own thread. I am losing slow, but I am still very happy to just be losing.

Hooray, this slow loser just buttoned up her size 10 jeans!!! They ain't pretty (muffin top) but they fit :-)

Congratulations, that's great! The muffin top will be gone in no time.

I really don't count calories. I just follow the band rules, eat Protein first, then veggies. There's usually no room for carbs. I seem to have a hard time with carbs anyway. It seems the only carb I can eat with no trouble is mashed potatos. French Fries even cause pain. But lately I have been eating a lot of junk. I am going for a fill next week to get me back on track.

I was losing very slowly too. Last time I saw my surgeon I was actually up .5 lbs. I started doing circuit training with the Chalean Extreme videos and weights. The scale is finally moving. In the first month of the workout, I lost 8% body fat and 12 inches. What are others doing for exercise???

I started doing Turbo Jam. I love it. I have lost 4 pounds since I started the 20th of January.

EXERCISE IS KEY!!!! I am going to the gym 6 days per week now and the weight is starting to come off more quickly!!! 45 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of strength training (focusing heavily on my mid-section)!!!!

I started Curves in October...not to bad nice to get out of the house. And my skinny teenager and i do belly dancing video's....not that i look great doing it but it is nice to break up the routine....maybe we should have an exercise tape exchange . i have tried a few different ones Core Rythems ,,,not so fun yet routines are hard to learn, still I figure if you keep moving your doing okay ...... Slim in 6 boring bet it works just hard to bring your self to do it everyday and my VCR died....Favorite tape is The MTV Grind Workout....sounds dumb but I like it and had good success with it

I had my band on 5/6/2008. I have lost only 40 lbs. I am still happy I got the band although it has been a slow process. I am at 202 and working hard to become a onester. I'm glad I'm not alone though. Anyone else embarrased to go to the doctor because I haven't lost enough weight

I have lost 25 lbs in 10 months--10 of that was during surgery. I expected to lose at least 50 in a year so I have been disappointed. But its a loss and I'll take it. I have good restriction and it has taken me at least this long to figure out how I should eat. I only started exercising again in December at Curves. I didn't want to tell anyone about my lapband and have been getting weighed and measured every other month. My name goes on the board and I am usually in the top 3 for biggest loser of lbs & inches. Of course the ladies ask how did I do it. I stay quiet. This month I lost a total of over 12 lbs & inches and the ladies really pressed me. I gave in and told about my lapband. Oh, like its a cop out. Of course you would lose "that way." But you know, all those years of being weighed & measured and it really never added up to much. And then avoiding the scale, not tracking my results, not wanting to know. Just smack me around for not jumping for joy at my 25 lbs in 10 months. When have I ever done that before lapband? Its not a cop out. It takes work and effort. It is not an easy fix. And guess what else? It will take a long time--maybe even the rest of my life.

Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted since December 2008 but I'm back. I have been the same weight since June of last year -205 lbs. I am going to the gym 3-5 days a week and hopefully the weight will come off. I am very happy where I am right now. Although the scale says the same number, the measuring tape is going decreasing. My doctor says that's what matters; I am inclined to believe that as well. I've decided a long time ago that I have done all this work to get my body right, I need to start working on my mind. I found that after working on my mental I could let go of the negative self image that I had of me. I thought I was always so self assured and confident but when losing weight and having people to comment on it and looking at myself in the mirror, I wasn't so confident - I couldn't see me as the person I was becoming. That blew me away because for the first time in my life it became apparent that I may have had some self image problems. But, I am doing well and feel well and will continue to do the work - mind, body and soul. I am still work in progress. I have had happy times in my life but this is truly an honest and genuine happy time for me. So, I wish and pray that everyone will continue their weight loss journeys in a way that the outcome is that of peace and acceptance of oneself in spite of. Thanks for letting me come on here after abandoning this site for a while and do my soap box message. Happy weight loss!!!
