  1. My husband and I go to dinner with two friends every other Friday night and they do not know that I am banded. We choose a different place to eat every time we meet. I had just got a fill on Monday and last night, I could eat mushies so I ordered the soup of the day and mashed potatoes. I ate slowly because sometimes I pb and slime on just water. I was the last to finish but I was talking and no one noticed. I usually order something healthy like soup and salad and when I am asked if I am on a diet, I just reply that I am seeing a nutritionist who regulates my food intake. I am afraid of getting stuck, but when I take my time and eat slowly and guage each bite I swallow before eating the next bite, I am fine. Usually I order the fish or grilled chicken. No breads or pasta while I am out because I just might pb or slime. Anyway, just eat slowly and chew, chew, chew, chew.
  2. I dont think there is such thing as a stupid question or post. Sometimes when I am feeling alone with this band and I think that I am the only one experiencing something, I will read the posts on this forum and it helps. I agree with Heather O when she say that sometimes people are non compliant and looking for justification to continue doing what they are doing. I was one of those people(during the holidays) because I ate badly and did not loose any weight, however I would read posts to see who else had eaten badly and I did not feel alone. I knew better and I am doing much better getting back on program. Did my doctor explain everything to me? No. He sent me to a nutritionist who spent all of about 10 minutes with me. She gave me the handout for band and told me to follow the guidelines. I guess I needed more directions as to what to expect when I ate certain foods.I take this band very seriously and I am aware that I had major surgery and the reason I had the surgery. I value the support and I am starting to attend the group support meetings because not matter what the doctor say or the nutritionist said, I need to talk to people who have the same issues I have and listen to their solutions. If I had to do this whole thing over again, I would in a heartbeat. I am becoming more informed about this band through this forum, my friends who have been banded and my support group. Thanks for letting me vent. I was only upset with myself and I too needed to hear someone give me a hard reality check because I need honesty and not understanding when I do the wrong thing.
  3. I got my fifth fill on November 17, and I have been at good restriction(I think). I cannot eat too much and I can only drink protein drinks in the morning, then I am fine to eat something around lunch time. My problem is this: I have ate very little since my last fill and I slime everytime I overeat. No problem. I can live with this right now. I usually feel like something is stuck in my throat then everything comes back up. How come I am not loosing any weight? I am exercising and walking daily. I go back to my doctor on December 29th and I know that I an doing what I am supposed to. So, why am I not loosing weight? I weighted today and I had gained two pounds. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I try to drink a lot of water, but I cannot keep it down either. Am I too tight? Any advise would be appreciated.:cursing:
  4. I am thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful that I finally have found a slow and healthy way to loose weight with the lap band. I am thankful for my job and all that I have. I am thankful that I am able to visit this forum and have a lot of question answered on my journey to becoming thinner and healthier. I am thankful for each and every one of your guys that post and make my weight loss journey easier.
  5. I did very well at Thanksgiving dinner. I drank a protein drink before I went to dinner and it helped with the hunger so I was able to be selective in what I chose to eat. I did not over indulge in any cakes or pies and I ate my proteins first then vegetables. I was afraid of sliming and getting stuck. This last fill really helps me stay in line with how much I can eat. This was the first Thanksgive in a long time that I did not stuff my face with everything on the table. One of the many things I am thankful for this year, is the lap band.
  6. Hey guys, can I join the slow weight loss bandwagon? I was banded on May 20th and I have lost 30 pounds only to gain back 9 these last two months. I am due for my fifth fill next Monday and I am very embarrassed to go and talk to my doctor. I feel like a failure with this band, however, I am not giving up. I do not have complete restriction yet but this next fill may bring me closer. I have 55cc already in a 9cc band so I am almost there! The only problem I am having is that I can still eat anything. I have been walking for exercise and the pounds still are not coming off. I am patience and I know that when I start losing it will be a wonderful feeling. I take my hats off the those of you who have lost a lot of weight so far. I hope to join you soon.
  7. I too am frustrated with my weight loss. I lost 30 pounds after I was banded in May and I have had 5cc put in my 9cc band. I still do not have good restriction and can eat just about anything. I have managed to eat around my band these last six weeks and gained seven of those thirty pounds back. I am due for another fill next Monday and I am embarrassed to go see my doctor. Any encouragement would be appreciated.
  8. I was banded on May 20th and I have had my third fill on Last Thursday. That brought me to 5cc. I still do not have complete restriction and I am losing weight slowly. Monday night I ate a piece of cornbread and I immediately had a pain in my chest and i began to slime. I became so excited because I thought I finally was getting some restriction. I can still eat what I want and I hate it. I have the realize band and when I got my last fill, I mentioned to my doctor that I had lost and gained the same 7 pounds and he told me that he expected that to happen. wtf?? I have been exercising and I know that I should start making better food choices, but this is frustrating. I think the realize band does cause slower weight loss.
  9. Try the tae bo series from Billy Blanks. About three months ago, I started with the 8 minute workout and it was hard! I kept doing it and now I can do the full tae bo workout. It works you out pretty good and I am losing inches everywhere. Good luck.
  10. Thank you for this post. I have been lurking on this site for the last couple of weeks and I have not posted in a while because I do not know what to make of my lapband. I started out loosing and then I just started gaining weight. I have lost and gained the same five pounds over the last two months I know. I had my first fill in June and I do not have any restriction. I am not scheduled to have my second fill until the 13th of August. I am working out at least three times a week by doing tae bo and weights. This is probably why I have not gained more than the same nagging five pounds. Anyway, thanks for posting something positive that I can look forward to. I am not discouraged with the band, just being patient and looking forward to the time when I have good restriction.
  11. Joan, wishing you a speedy recovery. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Stay strong and god bless you.
  12. You are funny. Run to the quickest AA meeting. LMAO. Seriously, I love lambrusco and you just described me when I drink a half bottle of the wine. My husband tells me that my cheeks get rosy and I talk a lot. I just had my first fill today and I am going to wait until the first part of next week to finish my bottle of wine. I say just enjoy and don't over endulge too much because you don't need all those extra calories.
  13. I got my first fill today and it was not bad. The doctor felt around for my port then inserted the needle, a quick prick and it was over in less than 30 seconds. I feel great. Don't sweat it. It will be fine.
