    No more tears of joy...

Ok, here is a secret...I used to work for Humana Military and the nurses that put referrals in would never not have somebody doing that while they were gone. Ask to speak to the manager....I promise you, referrals for your area are getting done by somebody for the next three weeks. You'll get buried in a pile otherwise....

    May 2008 Slow Losers

I haven't budged in awhile...I had a fill in January, so it has been 3 months....I scheduled one for next week hoping that will help...I think I can eat more now than I could back then. My anniversary is 5/22 and I am 13 lbs from my goal. However, I have been 13 lbs from goal for about a month now. How is everyone else?

    Everyone different I know but...

Sunshine you are doing great. Thanks for posting. It is good to see someone that has made progression over a longer time and with realistic numbers - for those of us that don't drop drastically fast :-)

    May 2008 Slow Losers

How are we doing May slow losers? I'm only down 2 lbs since the new year...but I've been lazy and grazing. Back to journaling and counting :-)
  8. Wow Jodi, you're doing awesome! I had my surgery the end of last May also....However, I have not lost a bunch yet but I am 1/2 way there anyway. This just may take awhile. Started at 32 BMI, currently 28.
  9. I take the gummies, 4 instead of 2. We buy them at Sam's club in volume :-)

    May 2008 Slow Losers

Hi all, went in for my 5th fill today...they added .3cc....not sure what I am up to now. I had lost 12 lbs since my last fill 3 months ago but in the last month nothing. I'm down total 25lbs and have 25 more to get out of the "overweight" BMI :-)
  11. I went from a 9 to an 8 and I've only lost 30 lbs so far. I was an 8 in my smaller days, so I am hoping they don't continue to shrink, wasn't factoring new shoes into my clothing budget!
  12. I haven't had trouble w/ my fills but it did take 4 fills, which put me almost 6 months post-op to feel restriction. I kept beating myself up for not losing much at all - and I was embarrassed. However, I'm going forward now and it took me longer than most to get to this point, but you'll get there :-)

    Help! Stuck capsule!!

I've read pineapple juice or papaya tablets can help...lots of people have said that but I can't attest to it. Hope it is over soon!
  14. I officially made my goal of 185 by the end of the year. It makes me 1/2 way to my total loss of 50 lbs (my goal). I had my surgery 5/22/08, so I am not setting any records, but if I can do the other half in 7 more months, I'll be estatic!!
  15. Does anyone else have this problem? It is horrible, I am going to my family doc for it Monday. I drink, drink, drink my Water but my mouth feels like cotton. It has grown progressively worse since surgery. The only thing I can find is that it could be diabetes? I holy hope not...or a Vitamin decifiency? Thanks for you input!

    personal trainer ?'s

Hi, I found your question under "unanswered posts." I'm in TX but could tell you that here you pay between $60-75 per hour session. Most trainers want to a minimum of 2 sessions per week and act like that is a "rule" but if you can only afford once a week, just tell them. You need to meet with them and see if your personalities would match. Do you belong to a gym? I've used trainers at the gym but prefer independent ones as they have less rules to follow for lack of a better description and aren't forced to sell side products like nutrtitional items or vitamins. Hope this helps!

    Slow Losers Unite!

Hi all, I had a great week. After logging and counting every calorie and protein I am down 3.5 lbs since last Monday! I am super happy. I think my 4th fill and journaling are helping me. Good luck everyone, lets keep posting our successes and setbacks!
  18. Wow, that is weird they didn't have you standing straight up for the barium swallow. It does seem like a small fill for only previously having 2 ccs in your band but you don't say how often you get your fills or how long ago your surgery was. I've heard of surgeons that will do them every 2 weeks some every 4 weeks, some make you wait until your a month post op, some longer....so I think that info makes a difference...let us know :Dancing_sorry:

Wow, you look remarkable! Congratulations on your 1 yr, you've done great! I want to be like you in 6 more months:smile:

    Exercising and Plateau

IMO, if you are only eating 1200-1400 calories per day and burning 700 calories in exercise per day, you're net calories are only 500 to700 per day. That is not enough and you're probably messing up your metabolism. 700 calories of exercise per day is a TON, I think you need to eat alot more.

    Spices!

Weird, I have never, ever heard of that or read of that anywhere....

    May 2008 Slow Losers

Wow, lots of us slow May losers have PCOS and/or insulin resistance. I have both also. I went off metformin cold turkey the day of surgery after being on it for 7 years. I wonder if that is impacting me? I have religously counted calories and journaled this week and I am down 3.5 lbs. Let's encourage each other. We're half-way to our 1 yr mark, we still have time to be "successful"- whatever that may be in each of our own cases!

    May 2008 Slow Losers

I'll join you! I was banded 5/22/08 and since day of surgery have only lost 13 lbs:sad: It is my fault though. I have gotten myself back on track this week, I am logging EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth. I needed a reality check and got it on Monday at the doctors office and with the nutritionist. I was low BMI to start with and have gone from 31.5 to 29.5 which officially makes me only overweight now, not obese:smile:. I've been exercising religiously with weights and cardio and have really tones also, but I don't think that shows up on the scale. I had a giant pity party for myself Monday, boo-hooing at "failure" but I am back at it now! I'd love to find a regular group on here to relate to and check in with. Seeing the doctor every 8 weeks is too long to be on my own!

    Exercise = weight loss stops

Probably time for another fill. I have been exercising way over the top and not losing a darn thing. Well, I've been put in my place, my portions were way too big, I was due for a fill, and I've finally accepted I am just going to have to journal and count everything in my mouth, the lap-band is no different in that aspect of weight loss...at least for me. We just have to focus and work this thing! Good luck

    Slow Losers Unite!

I too am a slow loser. I had surgery 5/22/08 and to date have lost 12 lbs since then. I workout hard 4 or 5 days per week. I am facing the fact that I have a love affair with food and just can't get over only eating a few bites of real food. I am an evening snacker of easy foods but no longer! I am changing this! I did manage to get from the "obese" category to the "overweight" category with my 12 lb loss. I was a very low BMI bander to start with, self-pay. I had so many successful bandster aquaintances that told me how easy this would be and they were successful. I need to stop beating myself up and just get on the wagon!
