Who here has had their band the longest?

Recommended Posts

I must be a "glass half-empty" kinda gal cuz, although I have had great results since being banded 10 months ago, I am starting to have fears of losing my band!

I have had no complications and am living comfortably with my tool. What I worry about is that something will happen that will cause my band to be removed... I worry that there is only a set amount of time that the band can remain inside one's body without the body maybe rejecting it etc...

Is there anybody out there that can reassure me by telling me they've had theirs for ???? years?

I know that the band hasn't been around that long, but let us know how long you've had it. (Then I can find something else to worry about!! ha ha ha).

Im getting my band next week and that is also my biggest concern. I read about erosion and slippage. It's pretty scarey. Have they come up with new band's that last?

Hello new bandsters. I had my band placed last January 18, 2007. I have not experienced any "slipping", I have discussed this with my Doctor, post op because I read here that there were some band slippage. Usually this happens when you regurgitate often. However some bands are placed well, and no matter how many times you up chuck, no slippage occurs. Good luck to you.

I got my band in January 2005 and so far so good. My last fill was 12/07 so tomorrow I am going to get my band checked under fluro and see if I can get a small adjustment.

I live in fear of losing my band somehow. There isn't any really long term (like 10-20-30 yr) data but I think that in the short term there is a chance that we will experience some difficulty but the odds are still in our favor that we won't.

One day at a time when it comes to the band. Don't worry it. That's called borrowing trouble.

Behave well and treat your band with respect and believe it will be okay...Be mindful of changes and get them checked out if you have issues but goodness focus on the positive.

I was banded in March 07.

Chickie and Jahut were old school when I started here. Check them out.

I can't remember her user name but there's a girl that posts here occasionally who was part of the clinical trials back in 2001 (?) and still has her band.

On ObesityHelp there are quite a few people from 2003-2006. (OH displays the band date and surgeon so I'm probably just more aware of it there - I'm sure there are many here too.)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
