you do not speak for me beth not at all...i have compassion for people and animals.i donate all of my childs old toys and clothes to places that help these people that you hate so much they just want a better life for their families ...

and you know what after the hurricane here i paid some guys to come over and fix my house up ...i didnt check their papers or need to speak english with them they came i pointed they did a great job and played with my son ...

Good for you. I didn't say I speak for all, I said I speak for many.

I believe in laws. I believe that if you want to live here and be a citizen here, there is a process. If you want to live here, you must adapt to OUR country, not the other way around.

If you are illegal, you are a criminal and you have no business here. I want a better life too, but I don't go and steal it from another.

What if you lived better than I do? Do I have the right to move into your house, use your television, raid your fridge, and sleep in your bed? Can I bring all my family members too? I mean, if you live better than I do, then surely you will graciously let me move in and live with you, right?

I loved original post! So TRUE! Did you see the youtube video about the woman at the Obama rally who said "when obama is elected I won't have to pay my gas, or my mortgage"? We're going to have some disappointed folks in a few months.

as the wife of a permanent resident (did not move here until he was LEGAL to move here) i couldnt agree more. the process was long and cost money... we could have just said screw it... come on down as a visitor and we'll deal with it when you get here, but we went through the proper channels and were actually not living together for well over a year... and this was when we were only married less than 2-3 years. it sucked, but sorry, i follow the laws...

very disappointed people. i saw somewhere (maybe NBC news) that both the Obamas (Michelle & Barack) had not been born with the 'silver spoon' and expect and have great respect for people who have earned what they have....

I am not going to lie, I do hope that happens. And by seeing that happen it is going to increase my respect for him and his administration. Just because my man lost does not mean that I am going to sit around and dwell on it. More than anything now I cling to the hope that President elect Obama will turn our country around and make believers out of all of us. I will admit that even though he was not my choice, I am slowly seeing the things that everyone else was excited about before the election. I just hope that he follows through and brings our country the leadership we desperately need.

Texans are one of a kind that's all I can say! I can also say I do have connections there as my grandfather, a Mexican, was adopted by a family over the border in Texas. I never got to meet my grandfather but am still proud to add that part of him to my ancestry. I also live in an area that is mostly small town and white and find it extremely boring as I was raised just outside of DC and find that variety is the spice of life when it comes to people and restaurants! I think our Country is big enough and great enough to share with others that aren't as fortunate as we are and shouldn't be resented for it. Most of our relatives came here as immigrants at one time too. I can also trace my roots on my father's side all the way back to the signing of the Declaration of Independence so who cares!

It's not so much a matter of "nice Americans should share with their less fortunate neighbors", as much as it's a matter of "we have limited resources".

As Americans, we are very fortunate. However, even we Americans don't have unlimited stuff. I've seen some of your posts, so I know you're concerned with the plight of poor Americans. We need to get our own house in order before we throw the doors wide open to all comers.

How many illegal immigrants do you think our economy can support right now? 3 million? 10 million? 30 million? And I won't even go into national security issues with having porous borders.

Bottom line, I'm not trying to be heartless...I know that the majority of illegals just want a better life. But I'm not willing to sacrifice my country to give them that. Better for everybody that we shut the borders up tight, and allow legal immigration.

They're coming over here working for lower wages and doing jobs that you and I don't want to do. I'm not too far from the border of Canada and the workers are all the way up here too. I don't know how or who will fix the problem but I do care for the downtrodden and will always care.

You all ought to change that Constitution. The anchor baby thing has got to go. Up here in Canuckistan we do grant citizenship to any and all infants born on our soil. Then we deport their parents if they are illegals. The parents have the option of taking their Canadian infants with them or finding them good homes here. The children are always welcome to return at a later date, eh.

I care. We CAN'T share with others since we are trillions of dollars in debt! It's not like we have a wealth of money and goods sitting around that we can just give away!

And I say, if YOU want to share, by all means, knock yourself out. However, I say we need to start hoarding for our own use. People aren't entitled to be here just because they want to be. There is a PROCESS. There are LAWS. People can't just walk in your house and live there, can they? America is MY home. they can go through the legal process, or they can stay home.

You make this sound simpler than it is.

They come here and work lower wages because 1) they live multiple families to a home and pool the resources, and 2) they ship most of their money HOME (taking it out of our economy) because there a dollar is huge.

Secondly, they don't "do the jobs Americans just won't do," they do jobs Americans can't afford to do at the deflated wages they will work them at.

In case you haven't noticed, the illegals are starting to raise their voices and demand equal pay. So then, where is the benefit in having them? Then we have 30 million more people flooding our already overburdened economy demanding fair wages. If an employer is going to pay "fair wages," then they can pay Americans to do the job.

Caring for the downtrodden is one thing. Taking the food from your child's mouth to give to somebody who has no business being here is downright foolish.

I really like your post. I had it out with WASA more than a year ago, regarding illegal immigration. There is a whole other thread devoted to that topic. I've always been conflicted regarding this topic, but your post makes so much sense to me. I wish most people took your approach. As many people say, a message can get lost, based on someone's approach.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
