Bandsters Nov 17-21

Hi all!

I had talked with several of you who said you were interested in keeping in touch since we were being banded the same week... so I set up a thread for the week of Nov. 17-21. I am being banded by Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver on Nov. 19th. I had a phone consult with him yesterday and everything is a go!

Im starting to get all nervous/excited...

Do any of you have to go on pre-op diets? If so what does yours consist of?

I can't wait for the 19th. I am scared and excited. Just ready to get going. I am going to the store to buy all the items I need for post op. Please everyone get on as soon as you can to let us know how you are doing. It is so wonderful to be able to share this experience with ohters.

Good luck this week to everyone. We are about to start the best time of our lives healthier and happier.

PS..How are all the Pre-dieters doing... Are you staying strong??

I am staying strong today--helps that this is the last day since my surgery's tomorrow morning!

I am doing okay...I am hungry a lot of the time but not starving, and i think a lot of it is head hunger. I am not having a growly tummy or anything, no symptoms of low blood sugar. Just not full the way I prefer to be. Its been a challenge, but I am almost there. Surgery is Friday and I have lost 6.6 lbs in the last 10 days, which thrills me!

Heather, we're all thinking of you today and hope everything went well! I'll be in your shoes tomorrow morning.....like you, I'm ready to be on the banded side of my new, healthier life! Good luck to you and be sure to let yourself rest, recover and walk! :(

Thank you for the reply..how do I get to that other board?:(

Go to the main menu on this site...scroll down to Local Lap- Band Support Groups....click on the sub forum for USA Local Lap-Band Support...scroll down to New York and open....once in this forum, look for a thread called, "Any Long Islanders"...great thread:biggrin:

I just wanted to send everyone blessings, those banded already, those going in today and the rest of us going over the next few days!!! I'll be thinking of you all, wishing you a fast and speedy recovery! My surgery is on Thursday....not nervous yet, but I'm sure that will change on Thursday! Pre-op is going very well....I started 5 days earlier and I've lost 9lbs in 11 days! WHOOOAAA!!!!

Best of luck to my NOTORIOUS NOVEMBER buddies....your ALL in my prayers!!!! Please POST as soon as you can, I will too, and let us know how everything went!

SKINNY JEANS, HERE WE COME!!!!!

Hey, y'all (Texan transplant), another 21st here! Wow, it happened FAST! Went to the seminar 10/1 and here I am. Insurance only required a psych eval.

Doc has had me on liquids since last Friday -- no more than 50g of carbs, and as close to 80-100g of Protein as possible. So far I've been getting in about 120, and tons of Water. How much can one person pee, anyway? :(

Little hungry right now, but it's the first I've felt "hungry" since I started. From Friday morning to Monday morning I lost 10 pounds! WOWZA! I've always lost fast in the beginning, but nothing like that.

I'm very excited, as everybody else is here. My surgery isn't until 2:30pm on Friday, so it's gonna be a long day. Only a sip or two of water and nothing else.

Had my surgery yesterday and my surgeon told my best friend (who was the one at the hospital with me in the day--husband stayed with me overnight and brought me home today) that it was textbook perfect. Hooray! I am pretty gassy and achy, but not feeling TOO much pain except when i cough or laugh, both of which I'm trying to limit. =) Doc prescribed stadol for me, but so far at home today I've been making due with liquid Tylenol.

I have to say that this all went much better than I expected, and I'm glad to still be able to say that it was a lot easier to go through than my C-section two years ago! Now, if only I can avoid any of the other complications that creep up, I will be a very happy girl!

Congrats to my fellow bandsters who have had the surgery, and good luck and blessings to those who are going in the next couple of weeks.

So happy to hear that Kaitiana!!! Sounds like you breezed through your surgery...we should ALL be so lucky! It can only get better from here....congrats!

Hello Notorious Novembers! I had my surgery on Tuesday, and I got to go home that afternoon. The doc said everything went as smooth as can be...he wished he'd have videotaped it because it went so well! I am home and a little sore and a little gassy, but it's all worth it! I haven't had much appetite yet, so I haven't put a whole lot into my body other than water. That's all I had Tuesday. I had a cup of broth and a sugar-free jello yesterday. Today I am trying a Slim Fast shake...I'm going slow to pace myself and make sure I don't make myself sick! I agree with Kaitiana, this is much less difficult than a c-section...but still sore. Good luck to everyone who has already had their surgery, going in today or the near future! Hope your surgeries go just as smoothly as the ones being posted on here recently!!!

Hello all, I just found yall, I am going in for surgery tomorrow (11/21) Gosh the emotions that I fee. The 2 week preop diet has been hard and I have had my moments but the closer I get the less it seems to bother me. I have done great these last 5 days! I will let you all know how everything goes.
