Today is 7 months and 3 days since my banding. It has taken that amount of time for me to lose almost 55 lbs.

I know, compared to some, I am losing slow and sometimes that does get me down but I have to keep in my mind that I didn't gain this weight overnight and I am not going to lose it overnight.

But today my daughter and I went shopping. She and I tried on the same shirt and I could almost wear the XL in misses. She thought it looked fine, but I wasn't quite comfortable enough yet to go there. She bought the L and said when I am ready, she will loan me her shirt.

I am so chomping at the bit to be out of women's sizes. I cannot wait to be there!

Anyhow, my whole point I wanted to get to is that when I started this process my BMI was 50 . It is now almost into the 30's (40.2) :wink2:!

I am so happy that I am getting healthier!!!

I am so grateful that I made the choice to do this band for ME!:smile2::laugh:

hey, congratulations on your weight loss!!!! i don't think it is too slow. I know we all want to lose 5 to 10 pounds per week, right!! but like you said, it took longer to get it on so it is not all going to come off immediately. keep up the good work!!!!!:wink2:

It's not a race or a competition; if you do it right, it's for life. So ... you've lost 55 pounds since March? That's GREAT! There have been years when I gained that much in 7 months. How good that you have left it behind!

Won't be long and those XL's will fit, and then the L's! :wink2:

Congrats! You know, the slower the loss, the better chance you have of your skin shrinking without plastic surgery! Keep up the good work! I hope to be like you in that many months!:wink2:

That's wonderful!! Congratulations on fitting into an XL i think that has to be one of the best feelings, when clothes sizes start to go down. Hopefully i am done with going up and down :wink2:

You are very inspiring to someone who is still in the liquid phase of the post op diet and feeling bad because her family is in the other room eating hamburgers for dinner. Thanks!

Girl, you are doing GREAT!!! You have nothing to be ashamed of. I have more faith in myself and feel better about myself than I have in years. It is a wonderful feeling to go down a size isn't it?? Makes my day. I like to try on clothes now which I previously avoided. I felt like if you didn't know, it didn't happen. I am so excited about losing weight. I would do it all again tomorrow if I had to. Keep up the good work. Congratulations!!!!!

You should be very happy! That is a very healthy rate of loss. I know it can be frustrating when you see some others losing faster, but time is on our side and we'll get there eventually. I was at just about the same point as you at 7 months out. I'm now at 10.5 months out and hit Onederland today. As the Pantene commercial says, "It won't happen over night, but it WILL happen!" Congratulations!

Fanny,

I cannot wait until I hit Onederland. I was hoping to hit it by January 1st but I'm not sure I'll make it but I am not going to let it get me down.

Like someone else said...using slower hopefully will help with my skin snapping back. So far I don't see any loose sagging so I'm going to take that as a good sign. Its funny that the nurse at the hospital when I had my surgery said I had "good Italian skin" which usually snaps right back. I sure hope she is right :smile2:

Another positive of my loss so far is I worked around my house all day today cleaning windows, curtains, rehanging curtains, etc and it is now 8 pm and I just finally sat down. 7 months ago I would not have been able to go that long.

Thanks everybody for your words of encouragement!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
