Yay for 159!

I've been fighting a virus for the last few days. Fever/chills/body aches. Yuck. It's finally settling down, except now I have this wierd rash on my hands. Got to figure this out because I am so ready to get back to the gym. I'm still on track with my weight goals though. I'm supposed to weigh in tomorrow at 231.7, and I'm already at 231.1. Whee!

Hi team. I'm sorry I've been awol...I have got a new addition online (Farm Town) and I just seem to go there rather than here, where I really need to be. I'll work on it.

Sounds like you all are doing pretty well. I see some weight loss, but still the struggle. I'm with you on both. Had a pleasant surprise when I stepped on the scale for the first time in two weeks..and was down about 8 from the last weigh in--three weeks ago. Not a new low for me as I'm still trying to get the 10-15 pounds off from when I had the totally unfill..but I definally have some motivation this morning.

On a good note..workouts are doing well. My DH has decided to get up with me most mornings and we walk/job together..that helps me when I want to stay in bed. Plus he is faster than me so I have to step it up a notch. He, however, didn't get up this morning (but mondays are good starting days for me...haven't you heard that before?

Keep on truckin gang...we can get there.

Sula - glad you swung by! Great job on 8lbs down!! And way to go on exercising!

It's nice DH is joining in to help ya too, that keeps the mojo up.

This weekend is my 25 yr HS reunion. I was about 60 lbs heavier at my 20 yr reunion, so I'm excited to show off my new body to all my old HS buddies. I gotta figure out what to wear, something that makes me look and feel good! I want to say to all my ex's "eat your heart out", thats what they get for dumping me. lol.

Anyhow, I will check back later...........have a good day everyone.

I think fills are good at anytime, if you need them. Do you eat more than 4 to 6 oz at a meal? Are you hungry in between meals? Are you hungry before 3 or 4 hours has passed? If you answer yes, than its time for a fill. My doctor told me as you lose weight, so does the fat around your stomach, so you will become looser and will need a fill. He said usually for every 10 lbs or so, time for another fill.

Its been about 8 months since my last fill, and Im down 15 lbs I think since my last fill - I think I need one now. I was scheduled for one 6/29, however, I realized we will be on vacation then, so its rescheduled for August 10th now. I still feel restriction, however, I notice I eat more before I am no longer hungry and I am not lasting the 4 hours.

I'm so glad you swung by, please keep us posted on your progress and keeping coming by. We are all January or '07 Bandsters and all need each others support!

Sula -- I play Farm Town too! I have to get my time in early before the baby wakes up

Sunshine -- Have fun at your reunion!

Vicvic -- hello! Definitely fills are worth getting. I just had a baby in September, and I had my band unfilled at the end of the pregnancy. It was kind of like starting over. I just got a fill yesterday and I think I'm in a pretty good spot.

How's everyone doing out there? I've been pretty good with exercise, and just ok with food logging. But, I'm on pace with my little 5 week challenge, and that feels great.

What are you all up to?

Hi all,

Been doing pretty good. Exercise is killing me. My DH and I have been doing some interval walk/running..and then there is the hill. It is good going down..but up is a bit more of a challenge. It is definately easier with him getting up with me in the morning (cuz I would have just stayed in bed this morning). But I'm stiff and sore.

I didn't get on the scale this week, yet, as its TOM so I just skipped it. But have been eating pretty good.

Juno..5 week challenge? Tell me more.

Sunshine..vacation!! whoo hoo

Vicvic--welcome. Get a fill...that is the key. I'm still toying with getting one. I still PB about once a week...so I can't make up my mind.

Hello all, just wanted to check in....My reunion was a blast, and I looked darn good if I have to say so myself. lol. Everyone was going on and on about how great I looked, made me feel good.

2nd thing, I tore my rotary cuff lifting some weights, the doc said it will take 6 mos to a year to heal, so I'm going to do some physical therapy. I have to lay off weights on my shoulder area, so will need to modify my workouts a bit.

3rd thing, I'm leaving for vacation Saturday afternoon, I will not be back until July 6th. I won't have access to a computer so won't be online.

Okay, thats my update.....

Sula - interval training is really good and you burn more calories that way, so keep it up. You are doing great and so glad your DH is exercising with you. My DH keeps saying he is ready to get back into shape, but he needs to get to the gym. lol

Juno - good job on exercising and its great you on pace for your 5 week challenge!

Okay all, gotta run, lots to get done at work before I leave. Talk to everyone when I return.

Hi all,

Seems we all, me included, are missing our support group here. I'm going to try to do better.

I'm still working out like crazy but the scale isn't shifting. I'm going to try this week to not eat late at night..I usually get home about 7:45 at night and then have dinner, then to bed...I know, BAD. But a habit, none the less. So, I'm going to take some Protein drinks to work and try to do them between 5-6 and see if I can get myself right. (HA)

I had a bad episode with my diverticulosis and that really laid me low for a couple of days last week. I need to get my Fiber more regular (pardon the pun) and am working on it as well. But that did trigger about a three day depression as everything hurt inside and I was really tired from a few night lack of sleep. I'm doing better now but just a reminder that things need to continue to change.

How are all you doing?

Sunshine, how did you tear your cuff? And where did you vacation? Another cruise? I"m jealous, whatever.

i"m not doing to well with my eating and working out. Seems this is circular with motivation. Good for a week or two, then off. I'm down in the dumps about it. But I'm not giving up.

I was laying in bed and thinking to myself, "is this it?" Do I try forever and have that feeling that I'm not quite what I should be or do I settle? I don't want to settle. And I'm SOOOO afraid if I relax for too long, I will gain.

Didn't they say somewhere that the typical lapbander loses 60% of their goal weight? Is that just some crap I have grabbed onto for an excuse.

I'm afraid to get another fill. That episode with the reflux and all was daunting. But maybe just a fraction....this is driving me crazy...what if-n. Help!!

You didn't make it up... I've heard that statistic too. I am constantly telling myself to NOT use it as an excuse, because I KNOW I can get beyond that number (not that I'm anywhere close yet). So frustrating.

Well, guys, I've got to put weight loss on hold again because I am once again pregnant! Due in February. So much for my summer of shrinking!

I was banded January 18, 2007...and had port replacement surgery on July 6, 2009. I feel like I have gotten a second start on loosing weight. I say that because for like 6 months I didn't have any restriction except for like 3 days after a fill then nothing, Port was leaking. Now I have a question for someone anyone...I just switched Protein because I was needing a new flavor and stuff, so I'm liking muscle milk right now and the question is...Is anyone using and loosing with muscle milk?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
