Hi Friends,

I'm back in fill land. I went to the fill doc and he suggested putting back in the 8cc's that he took out two weeks ago. I sort of cringed and said maybe we could start at 7. So he agreed and we did. What a weird, uncomfy feeling that came over me. It was almost scary. I did drink my Water down alright but I have to say, I'm a bit gunshy about taking in anything.

Okay, confession time. I did weigh in at the docs...10 pound gain. Now how can you do that in two weeks? But I'm back on track and I don't really feel too bad about it. Just blows my mind and tells me what might be if I didn't have my band. Usually for me, it was 10 pounds a year or so!! Scary!!

I did some walking today but couldn't move much if I sat still. I'm going to do some yoga in the morning and the get back after it. I know it does get better...but yikes..why do I do this to myself?

Winter storm warnings up here...hope it misses us tho. I'm tired of winter.

I am copying what you wrote and bring it to my doctor next week. They just say that they arent' able to do fractions and that's what I need. If they take out .25 it's too much and I can eat alot.

I'll ask them to PLEASSSSE DO IT Your way

I go tomorrow for session 2 of personal training. Pinch me, I can't believe this is happening. I cana't believe I'm getting free personal training. But I am sore but who cares. As long as there is someone pushing me along.

Okay Sula, so you gained a few pounds - Water WEIGHT. Now that you have some restriction, it will come off! You've got the right attitude, just jump back in there and "Get 'er Done!".

Sometimes We think the band is not doing much for us, but then get an unfill and see how much the band really does do for us, its amazing. I remember getting an unfill when I got too tight, and wowza, did I eat!

We had a cold front come thru this morning ourselves, I'm ready for spring and ready to say good-bye to winter!

Bandana, its your band, your paying for the fill, make them do it right!

Stick with the personal training, it will pay off!

Good Morning all,

Still plugging away over here. I have hit the workouts this week but seem to have aggravated my knee, so I'm taking it easy today. I hope to get right back into it. I sort of felt it ping while doing a manuever and it is sore when I walk so I'm trying to be careful. Don't need a problem there on top of other things.

I'm struggling....no that isn't the right word. I have definate restriction. I can feel my band in my chest and food has a hard time going down. I"m taking it easy, but haven't seen the weight fall off. Well, that isn't exactly true. My scale says down 4 pounds...so I suppose I should stop bellyaching!! I want it all now.

I was thinking of the early days when we rushed to the scale multiple times (A DAY..come on admit it!)..to see how much we lost..and generally we were down. Ahhh, those were the good days! :smile2:

Yes Sula, stop your bellyaching! lol. 4 lbs is great! Be careful with the knee, take it slow, you don't want to have an injury and then be down for awhile.

Have I told you guys that I hate the freaken scales....I mean I really hate the little bastard. I want to take it and throw it out the window some times!

Let me tell you, for the past 2 weeks I have a new attitude about exercise. I'm making NO EXCUSES and I've headed to the gym 6 days a week. I've eaten clean, I mean really really good. We go out to eat, I eat grilled fish with double vegies, or I had the WW grilled chicken at Applebeas. So I was hoping the scale woud move somewhat, but it hasn't.

I mean, it keeps bouncing from 163 to 165. This morning it was 164.6, yesterday it was 163.4. For the past 3 weeks at weight watchers meeting I have weighed exactly the same, I mean exactly. I weighed 167.6 (with clothes on), and not one ounce difference. Tonight is my weigh in night, so we'll see.

I shouldn't let the scales play me like this, because my clothes are looser, I swear I feel like I've lost at least 10 pounds but the scales just don't show it. I know, I know, I'm probably gaining muscle and losing fat, which I know is probably true. I just want the scale to show me some loss. YOu know what I mean. It just feel like such a victory with the scales show that I've lost. grrrrrr

I"m back...for now. Maybe time for a new keyboard..but my "o's" are back. :P

I"m up and down with the scale. I dread getting on the thing but and afraid not to lest my chronic lapses get the better of me.

Tonya, I'm so proud of your determination. You plug away and I know you will get there. You are probably building muscle as you workout so hard. Take measurements..I do each week..well waist and hips. It kinda helps me a bit better than the scale on some of those days.

My knee is a bit off but not too back so I did a light workout..and some yoga. Tomorrow...cardio!! Yippee..NOT!!

Hang in there...we can do it.

Sula,

I need to take my measurements again, I haven't in awhile, I took them when I first joined WW, but not since then. I also took them when I started the lapband journey.

So glad you got your OOOOO's back.....

I lost, but not much. I lost .6 lbs according to the ww scale! I'm glad I lost something because if I hadn't lost anything, I was going to jump over the counter, I warned the lady that it would not be pretty if she said I stayed the same, or worse if she said I gained. I think I scared the poor receptionist!

They (the WW people) think I'm on a plateu. They are saying "are you exercising" - UHHHH, Yes! If they had a clue at how hard I exercise, they would't be wondering that. I wanted to slap them for that question. Then they asked "are you sure your staying within your points, are you measuring your food? ". They have no clue how hard I've been trying. I measure EVERYTHING. I was craving some chips, so I had some baked lays. 1 oz of chips, I even measured them on my digital scale. I ate exactly 1 oz of baked chips. I even took the entire bag out and measured 1 oz of chips and put them all in seperate baggies, so the next time I want chips, I just grab the little baggie which has exactly 1 oz of chips in it. I haven't had the craving since, so they all sit there. I usually stick to lean meats and fruits. I even gave up my blue cheese dressing for no dressing on my salad, or just 1 teaspoon of FF vingerette. Sometimes I put a little salsa on the salad.

I swear, I've been trying so hard. So, I think they are right. I'm at a dreaded plateau....wonder how long it will last? I read up on it yesterday on the internet and they can last for a week, two weeks, or even MONTHS. I don't think I can keep my sanity of it last for months. So far, its been 3 weeks.

According to the WW scales I am at 167. My scales are at 163.4. I go by my scales

So - I had planned on doing a grueling exercise last night, but my MIL had to put in the hospital for chest pains so we were up in the ER until 1 am. grrrrr. So tired today. She is going to have a heart cath today. She's already had open heart, so she might be headed in for more surgery. Poor lady, she has been thru so much.

Anyhow, I had been reading up alot on breaking plateaus, it says one way is to switch your eating, eat a little bad for a day or two. Well, I took their advice. lol. As we were sitting in the waiting room in the ER, someone was eating McDonalds FF's. Guess what I had an incredible craving for? You guessed it, when we left at 1 am, I had my DH pull thru the drive-thru and McD's and get me a small cheesburgher and MEDIUM FF. Well, the hamburger just doesn't go down very good. It actually hurts to eat it, I know better than that, I've tried hamburger before, and we just don't go together since I've been banded. I didn't PB, I never PB. But it was such a chore to eat, I only ate about 3 bites and passed it to my DH. Now the FF's, I ate them, I ate about 1/2 the FF. Man they were good. AND, I did had a twix candy bar last night. My first splurge in a few weeks, but I was a little down about the scales. And I reasoned with myself to try and break this darn plateau.

Today, I am back on track. Ate my yogurt with a handful of granola thrown it for bfast, and just got back from doing 20 min on the elliptical machine. I will do another 20 min later afternoon.

Tonight (if we are not stuck at the hospital) I want to work my upperbody and abs - and maybe do another 15 min on elliptical. I'm hooked on that darn elliptical machine......:P

Okay, I better get to work, its month end and very busy!!!!!!

Sure sounds as thought you are doing every thing right. I do think that interval training has some merit..maybe shake something up.

I have a perverse sense of pleasure (my bad) in hearing about your indulgences. I have all these good intentions in the morning and then just screw it up. That is the problem. I can even feel the restriction at times in the middle of the night and think...I'm going to do the pouce diet for a few days. I make it through my morning coffee. What the heck. So, it is nice, but not nice to see you indulging. Short of wiring my jaws...cripes!!

I have been working out this week. I missed the morning workout..hubby rolled over for a 30 minute snuggle/sleep and I couldn't resist. So...I took my workout clothes to my office and put in the ty-bo tape...did my workout. I'm so proud of myself. A year ago..let alone 2 years ago, I couldn' t have gotten thought it. So, that part is good and that I made decision and followed throughw with it. I really need to ramp up the cardio I think. I really (in my mind at least) want to start running. I just know that will be the turning point to buring the calories I consume.

Did anyone see Valerie Bertinnelli in the new People magazine. She did the Jennie Craig and looks great. I am astounded at the 1700 calories a day but then she must have been working out more. But for me..to lost weight, I think it needs to be way less or I need to hit it harder.

Stick with it gang....come help us with your tales...I could use some more help by reading up on you.

Hey girls!

Well, I'm happy to report I'm down to 226! BUT, that is mostly because of all my GI troubles. The surgeon decided it was too soon to take out my gall bladder, but I wonder about that. I'm nothaving horrible attacks, but I do have horrible gastritis that I think is making my band seem tighter than it is. So, I've been living on liquids and mushies for the past few weeks. I go see my band guy next week -- I'm going to get his opinion on the gall bladder since he also does general surgery.

No exercise for me yet. I'm trying!

T - sorry to hear about your MIL! I hope she's doing better soon!

How come it is too soon to take out your gallbladder? Did I miss a post explaining that?

I know my reflux caused my stomach to be irritated and it was gradually swelling up and closing off the stoma. I could hardly get liquids down before I finally got with the program and went to see the LB doc. I just thought it couldn't possibly be the band...I hadn't had a fill in over a year!!

My restriction that I had last week has lessened by quite a bit. I'm going to plan on another fill probably in May to get back to where I was....8cc's. It was good to feel that much and know I had to be careful. I had on PB.,..but I really was being so careful. And Portion Control was great!

I got up, went out in the dark and walked/ran for an hour...more walk than run, but I felt like I could actually run for a change. It is never an easy task..I'm not one of those natural runners...But I actually felt pretty good. And I felt stronger than I have in forever. That is a good feeling.

Side note.... near a town called Choteau (where Dave Lettermans other home is) is a lake called Freezeout. THis time a year and in the late fall, there is a snow geese migration..where 100's of thousands of them go through. So, we are enjoying the migration. When I got back from my exercise this morning...there is a pond just across from out house...and it was covered with snow geese! It was quite a site. I need to drive to Freezeout...about 20 miles to really see the big amount. Kinda neat!

Yes, she is a hot momma! 48 and looks that darn good, there ought to be a law about that. lol.

I can't believe 1700 cal too, I would gain so much weight on eating 1700 calories. She must have a lot of muscle to matabolize that.

She was on oprah yesterday too, same with Marie Osmond and then Star Jones, they all looked so good. Star Jones talked about her WLS. I really can relate to her about keeping it a secret, because I still have kept mine a secret from my family and coworkers. I think they all suspect it, but I have never confirmed it.

Wow, 226, your going down fast! But doesn't sound like its been fun with the GI troubles. I had my Gallblader taken out about 5 years ago. I just woke up in horrible pain and went to ER and they took it out. Very simple. But I had so many gallstones, they had gotten into my duct and causing all kinds of problems. So that is probably why. Hopefully they can get yours out soon, it will make you feel so much better!

No exercise for me yet. I'm trying!!

Keep trying, and just start out slow. Maybe just take your baby for a walk around the block (when it gets nicer outside ofcourse)

T - sorry to hear about your MIL! I hope she's doing better soon!

Thanks, she is doing fine now. They found the blockage and could not put a stint in because the artery is too small. They are going to try and treat it with medication, if that doesn't work, they will probably have to do open heart again, which is what she is hoping they don't do.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
