WHY are people voting for McCain?

IF the economy is the #1 issue in America why would you vote for McCain? He stated not long ago (Sept 15,2008) that the fundamentals of our economy is good:blink:. Seriously? Then just today or yesterday, he said the problem with the economy is corporate greed and would have a commission (much like the like 9/11 commission) study it. WTF?! So basically he is saying he doesn't want to deal with the economy! AND lets not forget his TOP economic advisor stated just a few months ago in JUNE/JULY of THIS year that there was nothing wrong with our economy and that the American people were a bunch of "whiners". Does this sound like a person who is for the people? It is just infuriating to me that this race has become "tight"! I mean it's pretty bad when Karl Rove says the McCain campaign is lying and running a bad campaign!! UGH I will never understand what people see in McCain!

Yes...there is a huge world out there. So many different people and beliefs that we forget about. Ideas and beliefs that are so different than the ones that we believe. We really do live in a tiny bubble...it is fascinating learning about the others out there. Nat Geo is my favorite channel. Such interesting things. I can't lie some of the things that I have learned about others are scary to me, but completely normal to others and I can respect that.

I haven't read any HATRED here.

And I think the only one freaking out is you. We don't fear Obama, we just don't like his plan or his dishonest character. He lied far too many time during his campaign.(see the thread entitled 'why are you voting for Obama?' the 1st page. You'll see the long list of his proven lies)

Trust me...I am not freaking out. What would I be freaking out about? My guy won and I could not be happier. Trust me on that one!!!

Guess you'll have to live with it for 4 years...possibly 8 patty

I know that we all already heard this...but look at the slideshow that is being played with his speech. Look at the faces of these people. They represent my face and my friend's faces. They represent my past, present and future. They represent the many different cultures that represent who I am. They represent hope not fear. The represent the struggles many of all races, sizes and beliefs that we have had to overcome. It is going to be an amazing day when the Obama family moves into the white house, which was built by slaves...and when Obama is sworn in on the steps of the Cap. building which were also built by slaves. I am sure those who built these never would have imagined the day that someone who looked like them would actually be able to reside there. Look at these faces...Obama won by a landslide. That says a lot to me!

OMG...I caved in and I am watching The View. You all have to hear what Elizabeth (rep) is saying. What beautiful words poured from her mouth this morning. OMG! Crap...I am crying again...

I'm going back home to DC for Thanksgiving and expect the air to be a little sweeter this time!!! Nancy

Even that Sherry (sp) on The View made me cry today!

omg...the "I Have a Dream (MLK)" speech that Barbara had played made me cry again. I know that we have all seen it...but to see it again, especially after what has just gone down in history...it is beyond what my words can describe. We are living many people's dreams from so long ago. Actually, from not soo long ago. WOW!

What she say? I missed it.

i did too. i must say i stopped watching because of elisabeth, but i got choked up watching the show today & sherry made me cry...

hubby asked if i was PMS'ing today - i have a tendency to cry at AT&T commercials during that time of the month; but i am just so filled with hope / excitement & relief.

my mom called me around midnight to say she did her part in not screwing up florida...i had to lecture her she can NOT write in hillary ... she said she felt like she did when kennedy was elected; and hope it lasts!!

hehehe, how cute...yeah sherri made me tear up too. Watching MLK's I have a dream speech made me ball...spoke to my mom's friend who was there in D.C in '63 with her mother. Her mom is now 93 and just like Obama spoke of the woman who was 106...I am sure she has seen a great deal of change in her time too.

Rosa sat so Martin could walk,

Martin walked so Obama could run,

Obama ran so that our kids could fly...

I have seen that all over the place, but it is so inspiring.

I wonder, if McCain had won, if Joy, Barbara, and Whoopi would have been as gracious??

It is very hard to compare based of the circumstances surrounding this monumental time in history. This race stood for change from a past that was very difficult for so many. I think that Elizabeth was just able to see how important this win was for so many Americans. As for myself...I would have been very disappointed and very sad, but I certainly would have been able to deal with it. I have dealt with it for the past 8 years and longer. It is what we are used to and what we have had to deal with for years....but I guess we will never know.
