Hey Dyesha,

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on deciding to investigate the procedure. Just a quick note - all caps reads as 'shouting'...I know you're excited, but...

I joined the forum not too long ago myself, and I'm located in CT, so we're regional neighbors! I am part way through the process of getting my band (as you'll see by the dates in my signature) and I'm getting more excited by the day.

There are some really inspirational stories on this site - women and men who have lost tons of weight, vastly improved their health, and who share a LOT of themselves and their journey for us newbies.

Welcome to the 'hood, and I wish you all the best!

Dyesha,

If I'm approved (I think I've got an excellent chance) it will be done in New Haven at Yale...they have an excellent reputation, and so far, everyone I've met has been wonderful.

I just am impatient to get the surgery done with so I can start with the 'getting healthier, getting off the diabetes meds and getting a new wardrobe' part!

Good luck ladies on your journey! I started this process back in December ( I had to do the 6mos diet) and will be banded tomorrow. Jump through every hoop that they give you, actually stay one step ahead. If they require a sleep study go ahead and schedule it now. Do what to have to do to realize your goal!

Good MOrning Ladies,

:frown:I am not doing so well today. I was home cooking dinner for my family when I got a call from the Doctor's office. The lady on the end called me to tell me they needed to reschedule my appoinment again:mad:!!!! Mind you this will be the second time it has been rescheduled. So after 10 minutes of going back and forth with her with her rude commenmts i finally just got the new appoinment date. I literally cried when I hung up the phone from her!!! But hey i guess it just gives me more time to prepare:unsure:

I'm sorry to hear your appointment was reschudled again and feel you pain as far as dealing with rude people, but try to remember this process will wear you down if you let it...it isn't easy. It has been times when I swear I've just screamed, but I'm so greatful that I have the support of family, friends and everybody on this site. Hang in there and just think about the end rewards.

Good Luck

Girl, I know I have been there! Just hold on to your faith, be persistent, and jump through those hoops. Your day will come. My hubby was my only support until recently when I told my mom (3days before surgery) now he can get back to football- go Buffs...

Hi,

Congrats on coming this far in the game. Don't worry about the rescheduled appt. Girl, you're almost there breathe in deeply and relax. I was banded on 8/4/08. I know you're excited because I couldn't wait to get my surgery date. As far as support I feel you on that but I've also learned that there are some people (including family) that you can't share this kind of experience with...I don't know if they may hate on you are not give you the kind of support you need. Sometimes you can find the best support from strangers going through the same journey you're going through. It's all good keep a positive attitude and work towards your first goal on your new journey. PEACE and Welcome TO THE CLUB.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
