Dr. Moran in Raleigh ROCKS!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I know that some people have moved over to Dr. Enochs because Dr. Moran has an impersonalish bedside manner, but I disagree and I want to state my case.

Dr. Moran may be to-the-point but he has NEVER been rude to me. He has ALWAYS answered every question I had...including the two pages worth that I brought in to my pre-op appt. He's not going to call you "honey", or pat you on the back to soothe you, but he'll give you a sincere handshake and focus completely on you during your turn. This actually appeals to my matter-of-fact personality!

I met two other bandsters today; one banded the same day as me, the other the day before. Of course we had to compare our experiences and the vote was unanimous; Dr. Moran is the BEST surgeon. Here's why:

1) None of us had ANY gas trapped in our abdomen. I told him before the surgery to be sure to squeeze me like he was closing a Ziploc. He assured me that the crew practically lays on you to make sure that you don't have gas trapped before they close you up.

2) None of us had any nausea, and have been able to drink (not just sip) from the very start.

3) All of us are delighted with his staff, which I understand has undergone some changes in the last year.

4) He has NEVER had to do an "open" procedure, had any complications, or had a mortality. Never.

5) He is certified by Inamed/Allergan to train other surgeons. I figure if he's the teacher, he's completely qualified.

I didn't write this to start a debate, so don't bother attacking me personally. I wrote it to express my satisfaction with my surgery and care to others who may be shopping still.

Dr. Enochs is the best in my experience but to each their own. I wish everyone the best. I have heard great successes from both sides but I felt Dr. Enochs is more personable. Plus he had more experience and better weight loss results. Best wishes, can't wait to hear your story!

JEANBEAN (and others) It is obvious that you work for Dr. Enochs. You have posted repeatedly about him, advertising for him, which is against this forum's guidelines.

I was considering using Dr. Enochs for my lap band, but your posts actually made me reconsider. I think that a well-qualified surgeon would let his work and reputation speak for itself. I worry about why Dr. Enochs has to resort to such deceitful tactics to drum up business.

JeanBean had surgery from Dr. Enochs, and is obviously a HUGE fan, but I don't think the attack was very nice. That being said, I think that she totally missed the point of my start of the post. Dr. Enoch's gets alot of press, and Dr. Moran gets slammed all of the time for his bedside manner. I just thought I'd post my positive experience with him. It wasn't a slam on Enochs so the defense of him was really not needed.

A suggestion: thoroughly read all of the posts on a thread before you post.

Back To Me, this isn't meant to be a thread for misrepresentation. I adore Dr. Enochs because he changed my life!!! No, I don't work for him, and yes I have lost tremendous weight from my Lap Band!! You are free to choose whomever you want but once you undergo this change in your life, you feel nothing but gratitude to the surgeon and the practice that did it to you!! That's all. Best wishes to you and feel free to choose anyone you want. It's a personal choice but just be happy with everything at the end. No hard feelings. But please be nice.

Lanakila, Im happy for you. Im happy you are going through with the surgery from the surgeon of your choice. You will be extremely happy in the end, I promise! I just really and truly have a new life. I have energy to rock climb and do so much now. Best wishes, no harm meant, just excited to be here! Hugs.

JEANBEAN,

Being nice and not wanting to be deceived (or letting others be deceived) are not mutually exclusive. Everyone reading these posts can click on your name and read your posts (every single on about Dr. Enochs) to decide for themselves. I simply want this to be a place where we can share information about ourselves, our weight-loss struggles and our lap-band knowledge. The experience changes when we can't trust the information other posters give us. Dr. Enochs is probably an excellent surgeon, but I think you are doing him a disservice with your posts.

I understand what you mean.

Thanks for your view, let's focus then on the actual surgery and maybe talk about how surgery has changed lives. That would be a neat topic I think.

Hugs.

I liked him too. I will have my band in December. I live close to your town. It was neat to see a post about him and find you are so close to me. I am excited and nervous about the whole thing! Good luck to you. Wendy

Lanakila,

Thank you for posting your positive experiences with your surgeon. I'm sure this will be helpful to others who are considering using the same one.

Hi, I am just wondering if anyone knows if Dr. Moran does adjustments for patients that weren't banded by him. Also, does he use fluro for his adjustments?

I am going to call tomorrow, but would like to know if someone knows right off.

Thanks!!

I don't know if he does fills for patients he didn't do surgery for, but I would think he would. He does not do his fills under flouro. It may be because where he puts the port is very consistent and very easy to locate, so he doesn't have to. I dunno.

Hey everyone. I am not to this site and have just went to one of Dr. Moran's information sessions. I was very impressed with his knowledge and straightforwardness. His statistics speak for him. He's one of the best. However, everyone deserves. I'm both nervous and excited to being my lap band journey. Wish me luck!

Dr. Moran did my lap band surgery in February of this year, and I have been extremely impressed with him and his office staff. Since my surgery date a little over 4 months go, I've lost 40 pounds and he encourages me every time I see him. I actually met him 3 years ago when he was also doing general surgery in Louisburg. My dad needed emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction, and Dr. Moran was the surgeon. My dad was very high risk for any type of surgery because of severe emphysema, but you don't have a choice with a bowel obstruction. I remember the ICU nurses at Franklin Regional telling me that Dr. Moran was the surgeon they'd want if it was their dad who was sick. The surgery was successful, and Dr. Moran was competent and kind to us. My dad died a year and a half later from his emphysema, but Dr. Moran was a big part of us having that last 18 months. About a year after my dad's death, I asked my PCP in Wake Forest if she'd support me as a lap band candidate. She said she would - and imagine my surprise when she recommended Dr. Moran as the surgeon I should contact! This may sound weird, but I couldn't help thinking it was a sign. And from the beginning I had a real peace about my decision, and it was almost like a blessing from my dad, too. I'll agree that Dr. Moran might not be the most personable seeming doctor at the beginning, but he's been very kind and supportive to me - and I like him more every time I see him.

I'd also like to cast my support for Dr Moran. I felt really comfortable with his staff and his expertise. He is direct and to the point, but I didn't need him to be my cheerleader, I needed him to be my surgeon. It really helped when I talked to people who work at Rex and they recommended him as well.

Watch out for the office staff. Because I had to get so many adjustments he suggested getting the band looked at over at Rex. I asked HOW MUCH? The insurance person quoted me about 400 well it ended up being 700. The 400 was for him only. The correct answer should have been 400 plus whatever Rex will charge you. This was very misleading. When I asked the office manager if I could talk to Dr. Moran about this she said I could go through her only. I could send an email to her and she would get it to him.

Earlier I had problems with appointemts. I took off work 2 times only to find out I was not in the books. I did not goof as I had my little appointment card with me. Not even a sorry from the office. I sent him a letter and guess what it never got to him. How do I know this? My next visit (few weeks after he should have gotten it) he looked in the file and did not see the letter. Hmmm. What happened? I contacted someone at Rex about this and will be sending a letter after Christmas.

I am looking at going to Enochs as his office has issues. Janal was great! Enough of this!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
