I used Dr. Benavides and I really liked him a lot. I also love the fill center. Everyone has been super nice and caring.. They listen well and answer every question. My surgery was 15,000 total and that's with a year of care after the surgery. I was self pay, too.

Dr Jayaseelan at Medical City. I had insurance cover mine so I don't have the actual cost. Dr Jayaseelan's office is busy though and fill appointments should be made PLENTY in advance (a month or so). They do keep room on the schedule for emergencies and pre-op/post-op visits and such, though.

From what I read on here, I think Dr Jayaseelan did an excellent job with my band. The discomfort after the surgery was minimal - much less than I had expected. I was in and out of the hospital within about two hours on the surgery day and went home to relax. Dr Jayaseelan also has a wonderful, kind bed-side manner and most of his staff are bandsters so they understand 100% what you're going through.

And most importantly, the fills are done using fluro and are generally painless. He's also openminded and works with you in regards to your fills instead of just telling you flat out when you need a fill like some doctors will.

Dr. Stephen Hamn is my doctor, and I have been very pleased with him. He is very forthright and doesn't believe surgery is for everyone. I also like the fact that his office is just made up of he and his partner (Dr. Cribbins), who also does WLS. In my research, I found that he is one of the best in the area. It has been a great experience, and his staff has been there to answer any and every question along the way. He also does the fills himself, so he is very hands on. His website is: Obesity Surgery In Texas - Plano, Dallas, Fort Worth TX

I'm not sure how much it is for self-pay, but I believe it says in the FAQs on his website.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I would recommend Dr. Cribbins at Presby Plano. I really like his attitude and professionalism. The entire office is there to help you. I would highly recommend Dr. Cribbins to anyone.

I second the nomination for Dr. Kim. He is my hero. TLC Edge had a cash special for 10k at the first of this year. Great people and brand new surgery center. I would use him again in a heart beat. I guess I will be using him again because my wife wants a band and she wants Dr. Kim to do it.

Best of luck with whomever you choose.

Dr Kim is still doing surgeries for TLC Edge, and TLC Edge is running their special again for $9,990. Check out their website - tlcedge.com. They are great people.

Dr Kim will be doing my surgery, but not through TLC (my insurance stepped up, but I had to go directly through him, go figure). TLC, however, along with their Surgical Weight Loss side, has a Medical Weight Loss side, which is where I began my journey, and had MUCH success.

Good luck!

I go to Dr. Manuel Castro. Cost is $9990 and I could not be happier. He is very gentle in demeanor. You get to know the whole office by name and they are wonderful. Dr. Castro's own wife has had WLS, so he definitely understands the issues that come with obesity. I had little pain, was in for my surgery and back home within four hours and my scars are barely noticable. I do highly recommend him.

I originally planned to use Dr. Kim but he was no longer available through TLC Edge. He was my husband's surgeon and my husband loves him. I've selected Dr. J for my surgeon through TLC. He too came highly recommended. My consult with him is Jan. 5th.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
