Elizabeth - Have you tried sprinkling that Fiber powder on your meals? You cant taste it and it will give you extra fiber at each meal. I cant remember the name of it ...but it is in every drug store.

Hey everyone.. I am not currently living in West Virginia, but I was born there..Hope that counts enough to post in this thread  I have been reading some post and you all seem to be doing great.. I wanted to say best of luck to those who are getting ready to have your surgeries..

Elizabeth. I read the one post about you being a slow looser and I just wanted to say be glad you are loosing.. and congrats on your current weight loss..

I just thought I would share with everyone my story. I had my surgery on Oct 1st. I lost about 17lbs before surgery and then about 15 on post op diet..and then for about 3 weeks I battled an up and down of weight and was not loosing anything.. I was starting to get extremely discouraged.. I went to get my first fill and my doctor said there was no way I was eating only 1 cup of food per meal because if I was doing that I would have lost weight..

I can tell you I had my feelings hurt very badly @ that appointment because i thought I was doing everything right and from what he said I felt like I had failed.. anyways, I did not get my fill. Doc said since I was not really hungry, but an hour b4 my next meal he did not feel comfortable giving it to me yet.. SO you can be sure I started measuring my food 1 cup to the T and nothing more and I had started walking about a week before my appointment, but I usually walk 2 to 2.5 miles per night and try to push myself a little harder or further every night.. and since that appt which was just a week ago I have lost 9 lbs.. I am SO thrilled.. I dont really feel like I was a failure anymore, but I feel like I needed a kick in the butt.. and I realized that thanks to the band we can get the kick in the butt and get back on track so we are lucky in that aspect. I just wish the kick in the butt had been done more tactfully.. My feelings were rather hurt that day....

Well thanks for listening to my story. I hope it can encourage someone else.. My only suggestions are make sure to measure and exercise.. I dont avoid any kind of food except fast food....

My best wishes to all and take care.. Thanks for letting me post here

Mary, did your doctor tell you to only eat a half a cup or are you just full @ that amount?? I am only asking because some times if you dont eat enough your body will hold on to what you are eating and store as fat.. Mine was very specific about 1 cup 3 times a day and 1 snack... I know they are all different that is why I am asking. It is hard to find someone who was given the same information as the next ha ha..I wish you all the best keep in touch.. what part of W.V where you born in? I was born in Charleston..

WVU-FAN I have family that lives in parkersburg... of course it has been years since I have seen them..

KDlee.. The measuring really works. I was freaking shocked.. I really would have assumed with how little I was eating before that I would have lost weight, but I guess it was not little enough ha ha.. So measure really helps .. I usually allow myself one snack a day and I try not to deprive myself of a craving ..

So everyone in this thread likes Zumba huh?? I am not at a place where I feel comfortable going to a class, but I am thinking about buying the DVD and doing it at home. I will make my hubby dance too ha ha

HI, I was born in Charleston too! 67 yrs ago but I lived in WV. until my graduation in Point Pleasant is where we lived. I moved from Charleston when I was 4. Did you always live in Charleston? Well, my doctor told me that the stoma was only a half cup or 4 oz. so to make sure not to go over that amount. So, I have been satisfied very well but I don't have my first fill until 12-1, 6 wks after banding. As you said, all doctors have a different view of this. Good to hear from you!

Mary.. I moved when I was 5, but I went back every summer and I still have a lot of family there, but the last time I went which was this year was a very sad visit it was to put my grandma to rest and now my grandpa is living here in Florida with us and he is thinking of selling their house .. It is very sad to think the house I grew up in will belong to someone else one day.. My grandfather built it from the ground up and they lived in that house forever.. Well anyways.. Not sure when I will visit again.. I love W.V it is so beautiful compare to Florida ha ha.. Everything you see if Florida is the same all flat land and palm trees..

Glad you are satisfied with the 1/2 cup. I am 6 weeks out right now and have not gotten my fill. I am not sure when I will I am very nervous about it.. My husband has had 2 and he said they are fine, but I am just nervous.. Plus at this time the cup is lasting me so I am ok with that..

well have a good night everyone and take care..

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about you having to sell the home in WV. because I know what you mean about Fl. I lived in St. Pete 31 yrs, I have only one brother, he lives there so I visit him and will get my first fill 12-01. I'm not weighing myself very ofter because I feel like I'm not loosing, maybe I should eat more but I eat 3 meals a day, but I'm suppose to snack on sugar free foods between meals. It's so good to hear another view of this journey, thanks for sharing with me. I'm glad your husband is doing good, how much has he lost? He probably had his surgery before you, right? Later.

Mary

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
