I can say that it does get easier by the day... but so far - I still can't see how I would be able to go to work Monday, if I had to. Maybe I would be feeling better by then - but I just feel like taking it easier for longer than that. I still don't really feel actual pain - just discomfort. I took a percocet before bed last night and slept very, very well. I planned on taking an early mornin nap, but I'm no where near tired yet. This is good. I walk to get the belches & gases flowing (those are the only discomforts); I've been taking in liquid tylenol for this.

Have just not been hungry at all yet. THAT's AMAZING for me! On the ride home yesterday, I walked into mcdonald's w/dh to get his fish sandwich and watched him eat it and an apple pie in the car. He ate a cold sandwich earlier and the day before in the hotel, he wolfed-down a ceasar salad - he cooked dinner last night and none of this bothered me (although it all smelled great). I tried the broth and thus far, not liking it. I've been sipping protein shakes, drank a cup of coffee per day and am sipping water. My most favorite thus far, SF popsicles! Am looking forward to having cream soups (blenderized) next week.

Hoping everyone gets better very, very soon.

Oh yeah, I have takin two gas x strips every now and again to get the gas moving!

NFAITH.. I am with you on getting more rest.. I had my surgery on the 1st and by the following monday was not ready to go to work. It took me until wednesday to pull myself in here.. All though I did try on Monday, but I went home .. I barely made it on Wednesday, but gotta get paid ha ha and every day since then has been a little bit better..

I am glad to hear you are doing well.. I actually did not get hungry when people would eat around me either my first week and I could barely force myself to drink the Protein Shakes, but now that I am on mushies I do get hungry if I have not eaten my planned meals so I make sure I have them and it holds me over for quite awhile. It still does not bother me when someone eats around me though. I know I cant have it and I don't want it, but like you said I do enjoy the smell :)

take care everyone

Hi all. Quick note before I go take a nap.

I was banded yesterday morning. They ended up keeping me overnight, which was all for the better. I am sore, but all went well. Was there by 7:30am, surgery at 9:30, on my feet walking by 1:30. Ended up staying because my b.p. and my oxygen sat #s were low (happened last time I had anesthesia as well). Met the lady who got banded right before me.

I'm starting to ramble, so the meds must be working. Off to nap.

Thanks for all the well-wishes.

Congrats honey...I will be getting banded on 10/14....hope all goes well...and keep in touch...because I am a nervous/excited wreck right now...but hey next time you check in...let me know if you had to do the whole liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery. Because as I was reading the blogs alot of people did..but my doctor didn't require me to do it.

My surgery is set for Wednesday, Oct 15 and I'm excited "as all get out". (That's Southern for really, really excited!) Today is two weeks on the pre-surgical liquids and I am down 15 pounds. I can't believe it! Congratulations to everybody that had it done this week, and good wishes go out to all of you scheduled for next week.

I'm back home from the October 7th gastric band surgery. I posted surgery details on another thread named Surgery Day Stories page 12 if you are interested. So far so good. I am sore, dealing with gas, eating the clear liquid diet but do not feel the least bit hungry. If anyone has had a Cesearan or Hysterectomy, it feels like that right now but I have to go take my pain killer that I should have taken 4 hours ago. I had 5 slits that are glued shut. A different surgeon stepped in when my surgeon had an emergency. The staff was very kind and friendly compared to other hospital experiences I have had. I hold a pillow in front of me to cough. I would do it all again and I am beginning my new life.

I didn't have to do liquid. I did two weeks of very low carb low calorie diet. Ended up losing about 14 lbs. (give or take depending on what scale you look at), and the dr said my liver was fine.

Good luck on the 14th!

I had both my pre-op appointment with the surgeon and my diet class today and started my pre-op diet tonight, I have to get 70g of protein from supplements and then eat 4-6 times a day and can choose from yogurt, sugar free pudding or jello, oatmean or cream of wheat, low fat soup or broth, unsweetened applesauce, sugar free popsicles and fudgesicles, milk, coffee and tea. My surgery is scheduled for the 23rd at 7:30 am so I am the first one of the day. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am which my mom is not so thrilled about. I did get some samples of different protein powders from the dietician at the diet class today and I tried one this evening and surprisingly it wasnt too bad. It was the Nectar chocolate truffle protein powder. Hopefully I can tolerate the others as well, time will tell I guess.

Hi,

I am new to this blog and I noticed that you possibly got banded recently...Can you please let me know how it went?? My surgery date is next Wednesday 10/15/08....and I am so nervous and excited all in one....I hope all is well with you....I look forward to keeping in touch

Good luck in Illinois. I am having my surgery on 10/14 in Joliet, IL with Dr. Lehmann...are you in the Joliet area. If so go to the support groups when you can -- that helps. Cherrish is a great moderator and supporter. After my surgery I will probably spend more time on the Realize web site that here. Dr. Lehmann said his patients that use the web site seem to have better results than those who do not. Let me know how you are.

We have the same bandate! Im on day 5 of my liquid hell. My docter said 2 week diet for me. I can only have broth, suger free Popsicle 3oz of lean meat and 1/2 cup veggies, oh and don't forget 2 protien shakes a day. I did just check my wieght and have lost 6.5lbs very encouraging. Good luck and we should keep in touch.

Hi gang! It's the end of day 4 here on my pre-op diet. So far, I'm lost 11 lbs. I know...water weight. I felt a little better today. I was definately not as tired. Thank god!!!! I'm finding that if I just eat every 3 hours or so, then I'm ok. My calorie intake is about 1000/ 10 grams of fat and about 60 protien. How is everyone else on this?

CyndyDG...I would kill for 3 oz of meat and 1/2 a cup of vegies. LOL. I did make some Soup today though. Yes...I'm still obsessed...but at least I'm getting better. I made one pot of very thin rosemary potato soup (no added fat though) and one pot of veggie soup. The Soups were great. SOOOO much better than canned. I just pured everyting up and mixed it thin. It definately as healthy as one of the canned soups and without all of the salt. I made enough of each soup to put some in the freezer for after surgery and to eat on it for a few days. whew. I don't know where that burst of energy came from. :)

Best of all to everyone!!!

Ronda

just signed up on this site and i was banded last friday 10.03.08! Had a wonderful experience and would do it again!

I am still tired and not drinking as much as they want you too cause i have CHF and was only used to drinking 2 litres a day! so, i am going to have to adjust somehow.

Good luck to the upcoming surgeries! I am thinking of all of you :)

I work in child care and I'll be taking the 2 weeks off that we're supposed to be on liquids. I am NOT running around all day after children on water!! lol.

As for the diet, I start officially on Wednesday (its getting so close), but I started a pre diet diet today. I'm supposed to go from eating whatever, whenever I want to 3 Meal Replacements and 1 cup of veg a day. u-hu. Not happening. Too much of a shock. So I've started today be replacing Breakfast and dinner with shakes and then I can eat whatever I like for lunch and at other times. Its more about the psychological readiness than anything else.

I'm even more excited now than I was when I made this decision. Roll on 29th I say!!

Hello everyone...

Anyone itching at their incision sites...my mom said that means it is healing but it takes all I have not to want to scratch.

Other than that every day is better post op :)

Renita.
