Need a surgeon in Brisbane area/
I see Dr Copp. He was a little 'unhappy' that I hadn't lost more weight last time he saw me. I think he was expecting me to lose as fast as most of his patients, but I have PCOS which has slowed things right down. I also have dropped dress size, but not a whole lot of kilo size. If a doc is only going to go by kilo size, then they are going to be unhappy with me. Dr Copp is great, but if you aren't losing overly fast, then I'd suggest someone else.

First Band adjustment
Some people do get restriction their first fill. I've even heard of the odd 1 or 2 who don't even need the fill, just having the band was enough. My first fill was a bit of a horror story. I'm not going to go into details as I dont want to scare anyone. I got a really good restriction with it, but that's gone now. I still can get to a point where I have to stop, usually its around the entree meal size. But I can eat anything I want and even drink fizzy drink still, no problem. I'm going for my next fill next month, which will be 2 months after the first. Can't wait, but I'm hoping for another xray fill.

Alcohol post op?
Ok, this is gonna sound strange, but I can actually drink more alcohol now than I could before. I can handle it better. I just can't eat and drink at the same time because that makes me feeling violently ill.

First Fills
karenK, thank you. Its all settled down now and I feel much better. I'm eating a lot less than I used to, but still a bit too much. I'll be scheduling my next fill for early January I think.

Going nuts!
I had my first fill a few days ago. Since then I have had hiccups every time I eat or drink & I feel nauseous for a while after. It doesn't matter how much or little I eat, the nausea still happens. Anyone have any idea what might be going on? Thanks in advance

Sexual Assault Accusation, Please Help!
If it is true, then your daughter is going to need some counselling as much as the other girl. If it isn't true, then the other girl has a few serious problems and should have counselling. Either way, its going to be necessary if there's a trial.

First Fills
wow. I was told after a fill first 24 hours is liquids, next 24 hours is mushies and then on the third day its back to 'real' food.

First Fills
I had my first fill today. Not a good experience for me. The doc couldn't find the port so sent me round to x ray for them to do it. I had a bit of pain from the needle jabs and a lot of nerves about what would happen at x ray and also I have a severe fear of heights and having to walk round a hospital you've not been round before is quite daunting. I ended up feeling a slight bit of shock by the end of it all. Am now doing liquids for 24 hours, then mushies again for a day, then back to 'normal' foods.

Great News from the Big Fella
All good Damo. As for me, I'm off for my first fill this afternoon. The large incision is just about all healed which is really nice. And I'll be able to update my weightloss checker later too :grouphug:

Black friday
Black Friday in Australia has a different meaning. It refers to really bad bush fires in Victoria 13 January 1939. Almost 2 million hectares were burnt, with 71 people losing their lives. Whole townships were demolished in seconds, saw mills burnt to the ground and thousands of sheep, cattle and horses were devoured by the intense flames. Black Friday - 1939

Had my first slime/pb today. Not a nice experience, but at least I recognised what was happening and ran for a tissue. Its the weirdest feeling. I've been eating very carefully for the rest of the day. That'll teach me.

Peek, I know people who have played netball and it worked their leg muscles out of proportion to the rest of them. This might be happening with you. Hi bubz, welcome to the forum. This certainly is the place to post! And congrats on getting the band.

Great News from the Big Fella
Damo, why were you doing Water for 8 days? I was told Clear liquids the first 24 hours and then it was full liquids after that, as long as it could go up a straw. Glad its all settled down anyway. Bet you can't wait to taste real food again!

Great News from the Big Fella
Damo, glad its all settled down for you. My swelling took a couple of weeks to settle down. At first dietitian and I thought maybe there was a fill, but Benita said no, its empty, so must just have been swelling all along. Congrats on the weight loss. I've lost 4 k so far that I know of, won't know the next amount til I see Dr Copp for first fill on 27th this month. Keep up the good work mate. Be no time at all and you won't know yourself.

New to this
Sunshine, if the surgeon thinks you are a candidate, then its really just a formality. You will be fine. If your diet history is like mine (can we say yo yo?), then you will pass. It proves you can lose the weight, you just can't keep it off and that's partly what the band is supposed to be for. Good luck with it all, not long now.

can u lose weight in your vagina?
No, its impossible to lose weight from your vagina. Your vagina is a space internal, between the outer opening and your cervix. You can lose weight from your vulva or mons though. Its filled out with fat, so yes, you can lose fat there just like everywhere else. There's another thread around here about if you'd get a tuck done to the area to tighten it up again.

Think Oprah has given up?
The funny thing is, I heard Oprah was going to retire a few years back and either last year or this year should have been her last. As for weightloss, no I don't think she's given up on it, I think she's just doing her normal yo-yoing.

Did I overreact?
If you didn't have problems with it before, what's changed now? It wasn't in the house, it was in the trunk of your car, you daughter can't get to that. OK, so it was in the car at first, but mistakes happen. Do you have a problem with the way he treats you? A lot of women have fantasies about being slutty, maybe you secretly would like him to treat you this way occasionally when intimate, like fantasy role playing, but you don't know how to bring it up with him and your reaction to the mag (shredding it) was really you saying, if you can't have your fantasy, then neither can he.

Please help me build my future
I just wanted to say, I had someone ask me if I'm getting any money from people clicking the link above. NO! I get nothing except the chance to win a competition if you vote, that's all. And none of your details are required either. Its simply a competition open to all Australian residents. Actually, I will be studying my course whether I win or not, but at $12,000, the prize money would be extremely handy. I've known most of my life what my life path would be, its just nice to now be moving toward it.

starting over and scared
Congratulations on staying fairly close to the weightloss total all that time. That is awesome and you should pat yourself on the back for that. Where do you think the fear of getting the fill is coming from? Is it before you went too fast last time? Will you be seeing the same person for fills this time around? Maybe you could speak with them about your concerns. I imagine it would all be on your file, so maybe they could slow down the rate you have fills this time? Or you could do that yourself. Instead of getting one every 2 weeks, leave it for a month, or if it was every month, make it every 6 weeks this time. You can do it, you've learnt from the past. As for the fear of getting to goal, that is perfectly understandable. We all get so focused on the goal, a lot of us stop to ask 'what then'. What will you do once you get there? Well, you can decide once you are there if you are happy with it being goal or if you still want to lose a bit more. You can go out and Celebrate, go to a day spa or something. You could maybe decide to change careers even! One life change deserves another and all that. Many of us have done the diet thing before. You get to goal, then you are 'off the diet', right? That usually means going to back to eating like you did before the diet, which means putting the weight back on. But that doesn't have to happen this time because you have the band to help you. Really, the best thing to do is make that appointment and go in. If it freaks you out, then you don't have to go ahead with the fill, but at least you will have made a move and broken the stand-off you are doing with yourself right now.

surgeon gave little hope for weight loss w/lb
Bottom line, yes you can lose more. Its really up to you. As for the doctor, either give him a sharp talking to and tell him to get on board with you and your plans, or get a new doctor. I'd be getting the new doctor anyway. It sounds like the 50 lbs he's talking about are what his other patients have lost so far Only having done 30-ish operations isn't all that much to go on. If he doesn't like doing LBs, then why on earth does he offer them?

I have a problem
I would imagine after all the trying to eat and not being successful, the area around the band is feeling a little sorry for itself. Its probably swollen a bit and just needs to be rested. Your idea of liquids for a while sounds like a good one.
