Exact same here Leslie. And honestly my man wasn't that attracted to me, so it was never a big deal I didn't want it. Now he is enjoying it to say the least!

My hubby wouldn't admit he wasn't attracted to me. He had one primary focus on my body and wouldn't touch the rest of me. That may be I wasn't that into it. I have a gut feeling though he wasn't, especially the larger I became. We had some "issues" at one point and I suggested the purple pil. I thought he was going to have a corinary.

Of course now he can't keep his hands off of me. The purple pill hasn't come up in conversation in a long time. I dare say how he will be when I'm at goal - LOL

I honestly think it is a state of mind. I remember in one of the science classes in school (probably biology), our teacher said women reach their sexual peak at 28. I sure was NOT wanting sex at 28. That is when I was at my heaviest and I hated the way I looked. I had absolutely no self esteem and I just didn't enjoy sex. It was a mental thing for me.

Now at 31 (too), as I am losing weight I'm slowly getting my confidence back. I went out and bought the Karma Sutra - VERY interesting reading...can't wait to try some of that stuff out. My body still won't bend like that, but hopefully one day it will. I'm like you - wanting to try new things out. DH has just blinked at me a couple of times and asked, "really?" I'll keep what that was between us, but he's been a VERY happy man lately.

Leslie, that made me laugh...

Ya'll are all making me laugh - because it is all soooo true - every bit of it! Leslie - I look forward to the day that my body will bend like some of those positions in books. My DH will think he's died and gone to heaven! I think that a large part of wanting sex is a state of mind and the other big part is physical. My state of mind is up b/c of the weight loss then sinks a little because the weight that I lost this week was in my boobs. I seem to lose weight in a progression - face, chest, abs, legs, hips, arms, face, chest, abs, legs, hips, arms, face.......my chests is flatter and my upper arms wave "Hello!"

Denise - they may be. We obviously have never bought them. LOL - He knew what I was referring to. Ignor the medical phrasing challenged - which is me!

I agree with the state of mind thing. Losing weight is freeing, and extra self confidence doesn't hurt. I feel freer to express myself openly and I am no longer hiding in the dark if you know what I mean.

However, I think age might be a factor, or maybe it is just the right partner. For whatever reason, orgasms are now pretty effortless and regular during normal sex without any help, and it was never like that in my twenties.

I also enjoyed sex much, much more in my 30s than in my 20s. Even though I was not as thin and hot in my 30s as I was in my 20s, I was more confident and happy with myself (my husband whom I married at 31 had a lot to do with that). I just turned 40 yesterday and have to admit my sex drive has been WAY down in the past 3 years compared to my early and mid 30s. There may have been hormonal changes but I also think it's because I started putting more weight on in the last 3 years and this year went past 200 for the first time in my life (including when I was pregnant). I didn't feel sexy, therefore I had no desire for sex. Now that I've dropped down below 200 (albeit just a few days) I've been craving sex. It could be the rush of hormones from weight loss as well.

i keep reading this post , so i might as well chime in.

i can wait to slide into 40...few months away:biggrin:. i was 110-120lbs in my 20's and was the most insecure person sexually. i had no self confidence to try or do "new things:wink_smile:". i married at 30, to an amazing man who today tells me i need to put a few lbs back on my hips & butt, he could have cared less how much i weighed...and with that security, i became much MORE carefree & risky. your partner "matters" in this exploration.

my personal experience and those of my friends i have a certain philosophy on this subject - in your 20's your defining who you may want to be when you "grow up" - in your 30's, i think this is the most critical time for a woman. the struggle of family/work/life/ - many lose themselves by being the caretaker to everyone but themselves ( realize this may be earlier for some )...as i creep to 40, which all my close friends are - i realized this is MY time. i could give a rats ass what someone says or thinks of me. i was all about appearances earlier on - not today. i am what i am...and you can take it or leave it.

i feel i look as good now as i did at 25 & WISHED i had the carefree attitude then, that i do now.

sex - MUCH better as i age; the hangups i had early on is a shame - or maybe not...i like to think the best is yet to come (no pun intended:tongue:)

It certainly has been for me...and it continues and I'm in my 50's!!:wink2:

Luluc - I agree with you. I already have the same take me as I am or go to hell attitude myself. I was so self-consious and wanting to please when I was 20. I was more concerned with appearance and making friends. I often let what I wanted to to the wayside - that was included in the bedroom.

As we get older we also become more familar with our bodies. We know what we like, what we don't like and aren't "just figuring things out as we go along". Do you know what I mean?

Ok!

Can I just put in my two cents. I'm 39 years old. I will turn 40 next April. Lost my virginity at 23. My mother raised me to be a good girl. Keep my legs closed until marriage. Well... that didn't happen. But I didn't enjoy sex in my twenties. I just didn't have the right partner. But I did have a baby. Was celibate for eight long years. Got caught up in the motherhood thing during those years. And then I met a man 13 years my senior and it was like he woke up something in me. And let me tell you it was so amazing to experience somethings in my thirties that a good girl like me would had never thought of doing in my twenties.:wink2: Now I'm more adventurous and I absolutely love good sex. The only thing that keeps me from truly getting the full experience is this weight, because I can't get into certain positions. But once the weight comes off my hubby better get ready. My energy and sex drive is really high now, but when I get smaller...Well, let's just say I hope I don't hurt the man:wink_smile:

Oh Yeah! And as far as being self conscious about my body... at 27 I had a lumpectomy and at 37 I had a mastectomy. I'm waiting for reconstructive surgery after I lose some of this weight. So you definitly need to have self confidence about your body and love it no matter. It never slowed me down and the men (pass) and present don't seem to mind one bit.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
