Any September Banders?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was banded on the 15th, so I'm just about a week out and my port site is ridiculously sore and tender. Has anyone else experienced this? It hurts to stand, walk, get out of bed or even sit. Any suggestions?

Also it feels sooooo weird being able to feel it so clearly under my skin. It gives me the "willies".

I am not banded yet, so I can't specifically answer your question. Make sure that you don't have anything oozing out of the wound. Also, make sure that it isn't hot to the touch. Not to scare you, this is just to make sure that you are not getting an infection. When in doubt, call or go see your surgeon. Everyone heals differently, so it could just be too soon for you. I hope that you feel better soon.

Well, I'm leaving home in about an hour to head to St. Pete beach for my final visit with my surgeon!!! Then tomorrow at 2 pm I check into the hospital ... and have my surgery!!!

I'll be back on as soon as possible with all the details!

I was disappointed that it's in the afternoon though! I've never had surgery that late in the date before ... I guess everyone is different, they said he doesn't start surgeries until 1 pm, so I don't even know where I am on the schedule ... it's OK ... it will all be worth it by tomorrow night regardless of what time i have surgery!

I love reading all the posts, it's been such an inspiration to me to know so many others are on the same journey and facing the same hurdles ... and we all are going to make to a healthier lifestyle with our new "tool"!

God Bless and you are all in my prayers!:rolleyes2:

Thanks for your concern Slim.

Oddly, all of my incisions are almost heeled, no oozing or pus and certainly not hot to the touch. I'm guessing in my situation it's a case of "healing" quickly on the outside and not the inside. I have my post op tomorrow, I will definitely voice my concerns to my doctor.

I'll be banded on the 30th and i am so anxious and kinda nervous and I hope that I recover very fast so I can get to my new job

April,

I will be banded on 9/30 as well. I'm three days into my liquid diet:eek: and doing okay with it. Passed all of the per-op tests including the psych eval  and did the pre-op with my surgeon today. Now all I have to do is make it through seven more days and then it is done. How about you....how you doing?

Kelly

Hey all I was banded September 5th and so far have lost 20 lbs, and it feels good. I started reading the twilight series the day after surgery and read all 4 books withing the 1st week, but now that I am done with the books I dont have my mind preoccupied and I have been depressed for about a week now. I seem just to not want to be around people (which is rare for me) and I just want to cry all the time. Have any of yall felt this way/. Need advice Please

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
