Oh Boy! Or Girl! or Both! I just found out Wed. that we are having TWINS!!!! I'm so excited! Well, i am now, at first i was shocked and scared to death! The Dr. is pretty sure that are not identical which they say is better because they have a higher rate of survival. I was 8 1/2 weeks and measured 12 1/2 weeks. I thought it was just in my imagination that my pants were getting too tight. I said it's too early! But i guess not. Anyone out there have twins? I am a high risk pregnancy because I will be 35 at delivery and I had toxemia with my first pregnancy. So i will be going to a specialist. I have an appointment in 2 weeks for another ultrasound. I'll update on that! TTYL!

Hello All,

I am getting Banded on Thursday May 21, 2009! YEAH ME!!!

I really wanted to write to say Congrats to ALL the new Moms and those who are planning on becoming Moms...You are all in my PRAYERS!

I am so happy for all of you, I sat here reading, laughing, and crying at all the postings. You are all great!!!!

I too have PCOS and have been TTC for many years. Husband is 45 I'm 32 (turning 33 in Aug) ! We have been TTC for 6 years. I decided to have the Lapband to help me in my efforts. Never had a normal period either too few times or ongoing for 3 months at a time 90 days even :rolleyes2:

I knew I had to try something. They have checked my tubes(they were fine_) Blood test, x rays, Clomid 3 cycles, YET Nothing. Miscarried once. SAD:(

I know in my heart I will be a Mommy. I plan on waiting about a year or so before I start TTC! But I really don't want to take BCP because I took them when I was 13-17 to try to regulate my Period which it never did.

I stoped at 17 then started again when I turned 21-22 and started having sex. I stoped once again and when my husband and I decided to marry we TTC but to no avail.

I am concerned because of my Age and his age. I really want to be healthy for my child and I want my husband to enjoy our child as well.

Just my thoughts!

Any advice will be appreciated!

TWINS!?!? OMG that is awesome and crazy. I had the crazy superhuman sense of smell very early in my pregnancy and people swore I was having twins, but only 1 little bean in there, which was A-Ok with us, since this is our first baby. But congrats, oh how cool!

Hey everyone, i have been reading this thread for a while and i think it's about time that i said hello! My husband and i are going to start TTC this June. In fact, i just finished up my last pack of birth control after 10 years of being on the pill. We are so excited!

Just a little about me... i was banded in March 2008 and am about 10-15 lbs from a healthy BMI (depending which day you ask me). My husband and i have been married for 2 years and are already the happy parents of a 2 year old black lab. Besides the puppy, this will be our first child.

Right now i'm reading EVERY BABY-RELATED BOOK i can get my hands on and i'm filled with anticipation. So far one of my favorites has been "Our Babies, Ourselves" and right now i'm reading "Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy". Amazon.com is making a fortune off me these days!

Congrats to all of you expecting and good luck to all those trying!

Well, for those of you with PCOS wondering if you will ever get back to normal... I have a small win to report...not pregnancy but at least some semblance of normalcy. I just finished by second normal period in more than 5 years after losing 60 pounds. I am 6 months post-op. Prior to this I bled nonstop for two years (we're talking a whole box of tampons a day bleeding which I thought would never stop).

I can't wait to see what happens next...

Hello ladies,

This week has been the start of us officially "trying to get pregnant". Based on the ovulation calculators you can find online, i have officially entered the fertile period. But it's hard to put too much stock in their results since i basically have no idea how long my cycle will be after being on birth control pills for 10 years. But it's a start.

Regardless, I'm excited and hopeful, and at the very least the "trying to make a baby" part is fun!

Wish me luck. :(

dewl, that is awesome for you guys! we used ovulation test strips for about 2 months so we could pinpoint my fertile phase, then just gave up and had sex every day for a week during that time. it only took us about 5 months to conceive!

My advice, if you don't get too tight during pregnancy, try to keep your fill.

My advice, if you don't get too tight during pregnancy, try to keep your fill.

Fairy,

That is totally my plan! My band doctor is on board too for me keeping my fill. Obviously, if i get too tight i will go in for a slight unfill, but i am not planning to be totally unfilled unless that became necessary.

Here's hoping! I'm still deciding when i'm going to test. I'm due to miss my period on June 20th, so i'm thinking i'm going to try to hold out until then.

So how did you guys tell your DH's that you were pregnant? Was he in there with you when you tested or did you tell him later?

I'm thinking we'll look at the results together.

I am in my tww. If everything works out right I should miss my period on June 16th. I tested yesterday but it was too soon and it was negative. I'm going to test again on Saturday and see what happens. Keep me in your prayers and I will keep you in mine.

I have been really tight this past week. I had a run in with some cauliflower last week that apparently did not agree with me. PBed pretty good and then took it easy (liquids) for the next 24 hrs, but after that i still felt really tight and have continued to feel that way for the past week. I haven't PBed since the cauliflower, but that's b/c i've been careful and have been doing mostly liquids and some mushy food.< /p>

So, the question is, does this tightness mean anything?? I figure it could be 1 of 3 things:

  1. Still recovering from the cauliflower PB last week
  2. My period is coming and while i NEVER had any tightness around my period before, maybe being off the pill for the first time in 10 years has my hormones out of wack
  3. Maybe i'm pregnant and this is the tightness some of you ladies have described as a pregnancy symptom.

Obviously i am hoping it's #3! I am due to miss my period this Saturday (June 20th), but i have a First Response Early Response Digital at home that says i can test as early as 4 days before a missed period, so i think i'm going to give it a go tomorrow morning.

Either way i'm going to the doctor to get a slight unfill because this is just a bit to tight for me.

I'll let you know.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
