Recommended Posts

I am 3 days post op, and boy does it hurt to breath in!! i don't have ne shoulder pain but i do however have horrible neck pain. i use the breathing thing they give you after surgery, but it hurts. I don't know if this is normal. I don't think it's gas pain.

I had soreness from a Hernia Repair, and they removed my lymph nodes from the groin, they thought they were cancerous but thank the Lord no way. Then he did my band . So a 3 hr. surgery, 30 minutes for the band. What hurt was the Groin, and Hernia repair. Never felt the band.

They also put me on a morphine pump. I used it once because I had to get out of bed, and they insisted. then 1x in the middle of the night, when everything wore off. That was it.

I too have had multiple surgeries. Including knees replaced. The band was a piece of cake compared to others.

So that little thing they give is suppose to help you get rid of the gas? I haven't used it since my surgery. I have been having this little pains in my side and in my breast bone area. I figured it was just gas. It can be kind of uncomfortable and painful at times. I have so many questions. I was just banded on 7/5/11. I don't have many people who understand me. I'm looking for some help.

I got banded yesterday and the only chest pain I've had was when I needed to take a real deep breath. You know how they give you the little breathing thing after surgery? Once I do that a few times the chest pain is mostly gone. My sister just had lap band and was having lower abdominal and shoulder pain after her surgery. She went to the ER and they told her she was dehydrated and the pain may have been coming from the way she was laying during surgery.

I had a c-section about 2 years ago and the pain from the lap band surgery is really nothing compared to that. Remember that everyone's experience is different. A lot of it depends on your physical condition and age before the surgery, etc. Don't let others' experience scare you off - just ask A TON of questions.

I had the surgery done Friday and my worst pain was from the gas. My nurse explained that when they put the gas into your stomach, it travels throughout your body and is absorbed by your tissues. For me it traveled to my shoulders and collar bone. I won't lie, it hurt like hell Friday night when I was home! And there's nothing I could do abour it. I finally took a double dose of my liquid hydrocodine and fell asleep. I do my breathing exercises several times a day and it is a little painful, especially at first. The more I do, the easier and less painful it is. It's important to do the breathing because namonia can set in very easily after surgery. So make sure you're doing it! I would rate my pain a 7. And it will be so worth it if I can reach my goal! Best luck to you!!

today is one week from my surgery, and I have had chest pain since last Thursday. It has been constant, and highly irritating like terrible terrible heart burn or somthing. Sometimes it subsides, but for the most part, it is there! I am going all the way back to the hospitol where I had the proceedure done tomorrow, because the pain just wont stop. It is making me cry and sweat, and I have had to already get another bottle of liquid vicadin. Not happy, but I hope all works out, because I want this to be a success! The whole reason I am adding in this discussion, or the only reason why I found it is because I googled "chest pain after lap band"!! :( sorry for mispells.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
